Giulia RestaurantOn my short list of favoritesWe had the tasting menu and each dish was as good, if not better than the last -- we cleaned off every plate! The waiter gave us explanations of each dish, and the wine that was paired with it. Every plate was perfectly balanced: rich meats and cheeses were paired with acid or vegetables to add a great contrast. While it was hard to specify a favorite, the veal ravioli with chard melted in your mouth. The food was true to its Italian roots, but you definitely got the chef's personal touch. I can't wait to go back again.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMA Touch of Italy on Mass AveThis was our second dinner at Giulia, after having raved about our first to our daughter and her husband. None of us were disappointed! First of all, the interior is warm, charming, and very romantic. The service is wonderful. Such a courteous, attentive, delightful wait staff! And the food is divine. Lest I forget, the desserts were delicious. We will definitely be back for more!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent restaurantStands out for truly professional service, innovative food, low attitude.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ExperienceI showed up late for my reservation and they had not given away my table. I really appreciated their attention to detail when it came to service. It was a special occasion and everyone who worked in the restaurant made it that much more special. The food was very good. I had a hard time choosing between the main plates and the pasta. The lobster gnocchi was very good.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWow a new neighborhood Favorite! My wife and I have been living int his neighborhood for over thirty years and have dined in the previous restaurants that located inthe site. To say that we were overwhelmed by Guila is an understatement. We found the staff to be absolutely orientated to making the guest comfortable. Our server recommended that we share our selections, which was a perfect way to sample the wide assortment available. Service was impeccable food portions were adequate and sharing was a great idea. On the way out we noticed several neighbors dinning, which means that Guiulia has succeeded in becoming not only our favorite but also a neighborhood favorite.
Thank yuo and welcome to our Cambridge neighborhood.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMPricey but excellentSurprising and delicious mixture of ingredients from the chef + excellent wine list. Dishes are a bit small and pricey, but are so tasty that it is definitely worth going here, even if just for a special occasion.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMwonderful innovative menu.wonderful innovative menu. Food was flavorful, nicely seasoned. The boar pasta dish was fabulous! . Wait staff very attentive. we were not rushed - nice lag between courses. We will go back5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was great exceptEverything was great except the rib eye steak. It was the most expensve item on the menu ($36). It was tough and a bit too thin. It was overwhelmed with salsa verde. The lemon, that was recommended, seemed odd for a steak, especially one that should be able to stand on it's own.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food experienceWhat a great surprise! Enjoyed all the carefully prepared home made food!!!
Delicious from the apps to the home made desserts!
Can't wait to go back!!!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and service are wonderful.Food and service are wonderful. I wish the wine list wasn't all obscure italian wines that I have never heard of! A french wine or two would not hurt.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth planning aheadLovely atmosphere and excellent, originally prepared Italian food. For most, it's a special occasion experience and the difficulty of getting a reservation means you have to plan well in advance. Friendly, professional service befitting a restaurant of this caliber and price.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMFiddle heads foreverI got my introduction to fiddle heads-- the baby ferns that look like green treble clefs -- at Giulia's, and they were divine. Also, the fresh pasta with asparagus was out of this world. Even the simple green salad with anchovies was clean and fresh and delightful. Our server was friendly but not pushy and the bar is lovely. All in all a beautiful place to celebrate one's birthday in Cambridge -- warm and friendly and special
.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Italian food in CambridgeHomemade pasta definitely lived up to the accolades. Kudos to our waiters for a wine recommendation that paired well with our eclectic dining choices. Beautifully paced service, too.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and service wereThe food and service were great. The atmostphere is relaxed and comfortable, yet classy, although the staff was a bit stiff and formal for Cambridge. We had a tremendous meal here and would go back.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great first experienceWe had a great first experience at Giulia. Our server was fantastic and extremely knowledgeable. The food was very good.
There was a longer than usual wait between first course and main dish, but not so long that it ruined the meal. If this small timing issue hadn't occurred, our meal would have been close to perfect!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMVery Positive Experienceterrific first experience. top food, wine, service and professional accomodating GM and servers. FWIW, it IS expensive for the portion sizes, but we really enjoyed ourselves and were well cared for.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is without a doubt atThis is without a doubt at the top of the list of new Boston/Cambridge area restaurants. Creative but with a real nod towards classic Italian tradition. Warm atmosphere, professional, knowledgeable, and friendly staff, deep dive all_Italian wine list. Go for it.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was a wonderful meal, beautifullIt was a wonderful meal, beautifully crafted and served. Everything was thought out and interesting. Chef came over and asked about our desserts which were heavenly. Definitely would return.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMSet the barWe were in Boston for business and found this place online. We had a wonderful time. Sat at the bar with 2 incredibly knowledgeable bar tenders. Would definitely go again!!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was delicious andThe food was delicious and beautifully presented and the service excellent but portions are very small and expensive....We left feeling like we needed to have a snack when we got home. If we had ordered from more than the main course portion we would have been ok...But for a $28 entrée and a small side we thought it would have been ok. The friend I was with always takes half the meal home for the next day....But not this time....If I go back I will order more courses and be prepared to spend too much for a neighborhood restaurant meal.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was sensational. WeFood was sensational. We had the tasting menu (party of 4), and they were quite flexible at choosing items to fit our preferences.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was fantastic, and AndresFood was fantastic, and Andres our server was amazing. We'll be back!4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is the first time I dinedThis is the first time I dined at Giulia. I loved the intimate and very comfortable feel of this neighborhood restaurant in Harvard Square area. The food was interesting delicious, the staff was very knowledgable and helpful about the menu, great blues music at the right volume contributed to wonderful ambiance. Really enjoyed it!4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was our first time at GiuliaIt was our first time at Giulia and everything was excellent, but especially the knowledgable and professional service from Andreas, our server. He made the evening special for us. The food was delicious, as well.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMNuanced, thoughtful food inNuanced, thoughtful food in an inviting atmosphere. Everything was well-prepared and delicious4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMI went to Giulia when it firstI went to Giulia when it first opened and had an amazing meal. We went back this week for my birthday and this gem of a restaurant has only improved. We had the extraordinary five course chef's tasting menu, and I am still dreaming about the incredible flavors and creativity of the meal. What a treat! I love the space, too, with the open bar and those lovely table runners. This place really is a treasure; the food is a wonderful blend of traditional and inventive, the service is warm, and the ambience is inviting and not stuffy. They have quickly become one of our favorite restaurants!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMPhenomenal new placeSuperb in every way. Food was unique and excellent. Service was pitch perfect. Interior design creates a great setting. Vibrant atmosphere, but warm and not too noisy. I hesitate to be honest because I know it's going to get tough to get a res here and I want to keep it quiet!4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMUnpretentious, authentic ItalianGiulia has a rustic ambience, and an authentic Italian multi-course menu. Staff were professional and welcoming. We shared the semolina cakes with lardo-delightful, light, lemony cylindrical puffs topped with a thin layer of unctuous lardo. Next we shared a generous salumi plate, followed by the veal breast ravioli, which were fabulous. Finally, my husband had the house made lamb sausage and I had the striped bass with manila clam risotto. We were both a little underwhelmed. There was nothing wrong with either dish -- the prior courses were just tough acts to follow. As is often the case in fine dining establishments, I find the small plates more interesting than main courses. I will definitely return.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWowThis restaurant knocked it out of the park. Delicious from the tiny starters (try the semolina cakes) through the antipasti (tiny clams), the papperdelle with wild boar and full on into the chocolate terrine. Everyone at the table was blown away. The only issue was the pace, slow to get that first cocktail, really slow, then a little quick but that will surely improve by the next time we eat there. I am ready to go back as soon as I add some money to the coffers. Every penny worth it. Go!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was our first time tryingIt was our first time trying this new restaurant and we thought it was amazing. The menu is slightly different from your usual Italian restaurant. I had the duck sausage and quail which was very good and my friend ordered the skate, also very good. Decent wine selection. But what we loved the most was the service! It was some of the best service I have had in awhile, our waiter was outstanding, very knowledgeable of the wine list and the menu itself, and he made great recommendations. We would definitely go back.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMI am a really tough graderI am a really tough grader of restaurants. This place is really wonderful and an A+. The food is creative and delicious! Really nice, comfortable environment but NOT stuffy. And the servers are really happy to see you. A tatal package.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGiulia is THE best restaurantGiulia is THE best restaurant in Cambridge. It's like walking into CHEERS - "...where everyone knows your name" - but with fabulous food and wine. The staff are warm, friendly, family-like, but never intrusive. The food is not typical Italian, but rather interesting, true to the region, and always done to perfection. I've been going there since the restaurant opened, and it only gets better, week to week. The "nostrale" are always intersting and offer opportunities to try new food choices. Cambridge is indeed fortunate to have such a gem in our neighborhood!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and service! The seafood linguine and wild boar pasta were both excellent! It was a very good night overall. Trevor, the host, and Mr. Eric the server were both very nice and full of helpful information. We are looking forward to to going back soon.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThoroughly enjoyed the diningThoroughly enjoyed the dining experience. Great service and delicious food.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMReally enjoyed itSuperb homemade pastas, interesting wine list, excellent service and a laid back vibe. Everything you could wish for in an excellent neighborhood joint that is also a destination in its own right.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMI would eat here every nightI would eat here every night if I lived in the neighborhood.3/8/2013 12:00:00 AMI'm so glad this has movedI'm so glad this has moved into the neighborhood. We went for Valentine's Day, even though I usually do not like not having a choice of the regular menu. The things that stood out were the burrata and the mushroom sauce on the spelt pasta. I was unable to substitute a vegetable for the starch with the steak, which disappointed me. It made the meal much more carb heavy than I like. In fact the menu had hardly any vegetables that were not root vegetables, making the whole meal quite starchy. Every was executed beautifully, however. We will definitely be back.2/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA mustThe food is authentic, unique and downright delicious. Not to be missed. Our new favorite and just down the street. Love the farmtable at the back of the restaraunt -- a great place to strike up a conversation. And it's a lovely walk back to the Square.1/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat find near Harvard Sq.What a wonderful find right near Harvard Sq. A really perfect restaurant serving sophisticated Northern Italian cuisine. Reasonable portion sizes and prices allow one to consume a full Italian meal (three courses) sans guilt.1/5/2013 12:00:00 AMService was friendly, professional,Service was friendly, professional, and attentive. The space is small, but they have done their best to make efficient use of it, with a small and unobtrusive host stand, an elevated dining space to break up the floor, and tables that are spaced such that you are close to your neighbors but can still hold discreet conversations with your party. The food was very good with a great amount of attention to detail; I would, however, prefer a heavier hand with salt. The Umbrian lentils are nicely cooked but the extra-virgin olive oil is a bit overpowering. Their pastas are beautifully done and perfectly al dente; they were the highlight of the meal. Their pistachio ice cream tastes more of almonds to me; I'd recommend the panna cotta over it.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
