  • "Excellent food. But one thing should be corrected.Food should be served from the left side and cleared from the right. This is mainly because most people are right handed and this position allows easy clearing. The person who cleared our table cleared from two sides between two persons ."

  • "Outstanding choice for a special occasion. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience but it was just too expensive. The pre-fixe options are nice (choice of 3, 4 or 5 courses) and seem well priced at $65 to $85 or so per person. We opted for 4 courses at $75 per person and were able to choose from anything on the menu including the specials. A few items had a supplemental charge, but not that many. After several drinks and a bottle of wine our total cost for 3 persons was $480. That is not excessive by fine dining standards, but it does make you think twice about returning. I would strongly recommend this restaurant if the cost does not put you off."

While the location in the first floor of an unassuming office building is completely uninspired, once you actually enter the restaurant the vibe is top notch. Expect to wine and dine like you would in only a few of the best spots in any city. Be aware, the tab is commensurate."

  • "Appetizer was prime steak tartar in roasted marrow bone with a house made mustard. One of the best preparations I've had of the dish. Next up was a special for the evening, a veal ravioli in a ragout. My first bite of this produced a similar sensation to that of Anton Ego, the jaded food critic in the Disney movie "Ratatouille" when he bit into the ratatouille at Gusteau's. Perfect. Sublime. Veal chop was massive and cooked through a perfect medium rare (sous vide?). Also great. Dessert was good, but I'm not much of a dessert guy. If this place were new and downtown, I think it would be the widely known as the best restaurant in Cleveland. Take advantage of the fact that you can get a table! It is outstanding."

  • "We were surprised to find that after so many meals at so many fine dining establishments in Cleveland, that somehow we had missed Giovannis for this long. What an excellent meal. A superb wine list, with some good value choices included, added to a creative take on classic Italian dishes. We enjoyed the Fois Gras, rarely available elsewhere anymore. The Prix Fixe menu surprised me at first, but clearly was the way to go. Many of the side dishes were finished tableside. Service was 5 star from beginning to end. Highly recommended for a serious eater looking for a serious meal."

  • "Our second visit to Giovannis, took mother in law out for her 80th birthday. Great table ,service and food is some of the best. I had a veal ravioli that was outstanding! Forced myself to save some to take home...otherwise would have eaten the entire plate. One of the best places in the area to go for a special night out...wine list is also excellent!"

  • "I'm sorry to say we're so busy trying new restaurants that we don't give enough attention to the established ones. The menu at Giovanni's is simultaneously creative and traditional. My husband and I shared the house made smoked salmon antipasti and the burrata salad, both plenty large enough for two. The salmon was incredible. I also ordered the ricotta agnolotti and my husband had veal ravioli special, both were wonderful. Service was great and the dining room where we were seated is beautiful. Our only disappointment is that we were too full for desserts. Next time we'll start with dessert first!"

  • "This is the first time my wife and I had dinner there!! We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and it couldn't have taken place at a better place!! From the moment we walked in, we were promptly greeted, our coats were checked and we were seated instantly! We were given a nice, 4 person table for just the two of us in a quite corner of the restaurant. Both the service as well as the food were outstanding!! I cannot thank them enough for making our special day even more spectacular!"

  • "The food, as always, was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. The pace of the meal was just right and our service was impeccable. The only negative was being seated next to a large table of very noisy people. It would be nice to have a little more distance between tables but I understand this isn't always possible. Perhaps other guests could have been a little more considerate, especially as it was a Valentine's celebration (the restaurant had a special Valentine's menu). Overall though, an excellent meal."

  • "The food was somewhat inconsistent - most great, some just okay. Overall very good, though. Very slow between courses. We were most disappointed in the wine service. This is a Best of Award of Excellence restaurant with Wine Spectator. The vintage listed on the wine list was not available for the wine I ordered - and the wine brought to the table was not only a much more recent vintage, but was also not the exact same wine as on the list, but was not mentioned. It was up to me to notice. When I did notice, the waiter was not helpful. Basically we were told that was all they had. The wine service was surprisingly unknowledgeable."

  • "After our previous visit we were not planning on returning. However, Giovannis sent us a gift certificate and we decided to try again. So glad we went. The service was great and the food wonderful. All menu items were available and very few were considered an up-charge with the tasting menu and if they were it was clearly written on the menu and explained by the server ahead of time. My appetizer special of rabbit foie gras set the tone that this was going to be an enjoyable meal. Another special of the evening was an entrée of mussels ,scallops, a generous lobster tail, a huge prawn, and a portion of bass in a tomato sauce. My husband was still talking about his dinner throughout the weekend."

A little known fact is that he graduated number one at the Culinary Institute of America, zach's wife also attended the prestigious cooking school and she is responsible for the perfect desserts. Giovanni's is always memorable ! The cooking is creative, fine quality , and absolutely delicious."

  • "Unfortunately we had a filet that had a ripple if fat through it. It was difficult to cut. I sent it back and they argued with me. They actually brought it back to the table in a to go box and lectured me about marbling. I'm sorry if I want marble I will order a strip steak. Never before have I sent something back to then have it delivered to me in a to go box. How insulting. They then picked apart the meal and charged for a salad mashed potatoes and desert. I said nothing and paid the bill. But in my mind very in classy. Especial when I did not have a meal."

I'm been to dinner at Giovannis with my husband for our anniversary, and now with a small group of coworkers who are in town. Although I don't drink, my boss was thrilled with the wine menu, and another coworker with the available beers. The food was wonderful and made a great lunch of leftovers today!"

  • "We had a dinner reservation for our anniversary on Saturday evening. The restaurant was full. Children sitting at the next table used their IPads and Iphones during much of the meal, Mom included. Not my idea of an expensive dining experience, although I don't blame the restaurant for this. Our service was excellent, our food good, but not exceptional, but our bill was. We were disappointed, and I would not return. So many of our friends asked about it when they had heard we had been there, and I was sad to tell them what I thought of this restaurant that has been around for such a long time, and has had an excellent reputation. Way too expensive for it not to be exceptional."
