Each course was great.My complaint is:after taking a great deal of time looking at the menu and making our choices we were told the 2 different appetizers we had selected were not available.It's understandable that items run out,but we should have been informed of this before we looked at the menu.We then had to reselect.After making those selections,the waitress returns and informed us that the items we had choosen had supplemental charges that were not listed.By then we just okayed the additional charges instead of having to change our choices for a third time.We should have ordered indiviual items off the menu instead of the 4 course meal with all the additional charges.Aggravating.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThis will be short.How was it? And, when we stumbled across some free time, we quickly set up our date night at Giovannis. And what a night we had. Everything from the ambiance, to the food, to the impressive wine list left us impressed and enjoying every second of our time there. They have retained only a few of their classic Italian dishes and have added many choices of a more New American cuisine. The dessert menu has been totally revamped and is handled by a pastry chef who is very creative. The remodeling gives it a much more updated feel. If you need a dose of the former decor, you can ask to be seated in the Picasso room, which did not change. This is a terrific change. The two bartenders were polite, friendly, and professional. New the perfect balance between good service and allowing for customer privacy. The food and presentation were perfect. Penne alla vodka was made without pancetta to accomodate my vegetarian date. My Ohio raised Berkshire pork chop was cooked perfectly. Tender and not dry. Braised fennel was a nice change. The food, especially the pasta dishes are off the charts! I ordered an extra dish just to take home! You need to try their deserts! We had this chocolate cake thing with icecream and then they bring this incredible chocolate sauce in copper dish. OMG!
