Diner Reviews
  • "Food, ambience, service, staff is top notch every time. We always feel welcome and taken care of."

  • "So much about this restaurant is commendable, the food, the service, the decor....we would certainly go back again. However, two negatives....lively conversation all around and there was no need for the background music that encouraged folks to talk louder to be heard. And, on a personal note, we two couples were celebrating milestone anniversaries, notified the restaurant in advance and were disappointed that no one came our table with acknowledgement of the event."

  • "great food and outstanding service! I was left with a very positive impression by the end of it. you can tell they're genuinely concerned with making sure you have a good time."

  • "Went to Giorgio's for Restaurant Week dinner. I was very pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent and the service was especially good. I got the wine pairing for $15 and again was pleasantly surprised."

  • "I went to lunch with a friend for restaurant week and the meal was terrific. We enjoyed our appetizers, the grilled shrimp and salad and shared the cd and the filet. The dessert was amazing, the smore's bread pudding. I would definetely recommend this restaurant ."

  • "Service was excellent and attentive. Celbrated dessert with a candle and song and bought the birthday girl a drink! Very impressed!"

  • "we used to go here all the time in 2002/2003 and I remember it being much better. the service was very attentive and nice but the food was pretty disappointing. the portions were enormous, olive garden sizes. we tried to order tiramisu but they were out. had a totally mediocre cheesecake for desert. at the prices definitely some better options around union square."

  • "Such a wonderful place to catch up with old friends. Restaurant week menu really showcased the kitchen's strengths; the grilled shrimp appetizer and the cod entree were refreshing and innovative, and the desserts- especially the bread pudding- were delicious. The service was attentive and the entire staff committed to ensuring a very pleasant experience."

  • "We had forgotten about this hidden gem that has been in Gramercy for years We decided to take advantage of restaurant week to try it again and we weren't disappointed! The dishes were all creative and delicious, the pan seared cod with corn salsa and fresh asparagus excellent. One of the better restaurant week menus. Will definitely return."

  • "Stumbled into Giorgio's on Saturday night looking for something off the beaten path in the neighborhood. Had not been there in 10 years abut always remembered it being solid and low key. The place was packed, which is always a good sign. The menu seemed to be very overdone - nothing simple or clean and everything had about three too many ingredients. All of our salads came drenched in very strong dressing. For entrees, a friend and I both ended up with the fish special but asked them to leave everything off, remove the fried sides and do this fish over veggies - the dishes were delicious. Fish cooked perfectly as were the vegetables. Service was attentive and they were very eager to accommodate our special requests."

  • "we went for a early 5:30pm dinner, the restaurant just opened and almost empty. Service was very attentive and friendly. we ordered the porterhouse for 2 it was a large portion could have fed 3 people. taste was good. it was the restaurant week but we did not order from that menu though, would try next year."

  • "Maybe it was because we were there for restaurant week, but the portions were extremely small. We ordered the kale salad and got probably 1.5 cups worth of food. I can't imagine the ingredients were that expensive, and we were really surprised. The service was also very slow, which we don't really mind, but for some people that is a real problem. The restaurant itself was cute but very crowded and extremely loud. Not the best acoustics for a restaurant. Overall it was pretty good, but I don't think I will go back."

  • "Waitress was great, food was very good. We ordered off the Restaurant Week Menu. Portions a bit small, but considering restaurant week price, it was fair. Smores Bread pudding was perfect."

  • "Too many tables crammed into a small space. I thought there was a large party where we were seated & realized it was individual tables with almost no space between them"

  • "The entrance was dark walking in off the street, but we were quickly greeted and brought to our table. The staff made us feel very comfortable and welcome. From there the night was very memorable. One course to the next a delight. All of us enjoyed right through our shared desserts. There are not a lot of restaurants in NYC that will get me out of New Jersey, but Giorgio's will see me again!"

  • "Tables are too close together, impeding the wait staff and forcing customers to listen to the conversation from the adjoining table. Food was very, very good."

  • "Their restaurant week lunch menu was awesome!! Worth every penny. Their smores breading pudding, however, tasted more like chocolate pudding."

  • "We were so pleasantly surprised with our Restaurant Week 3 course meal. The steak was absolutely delicious and tender coupled with the carmelized shallots...oh boy, I could eat it again right now. The desert was outrageously delicious and such a large portion. Our waitress was extremely well versed on the menu and helpful!"

  • "We found this place through restaurant week and it was great but only one complaint - the couple tables (seating for 2) are literally on top of each other. I went with my sister and no joke, the table next to us was 2 inches apart from ours which makes having a private conversation virtually impossible. Everything else was awesome."

  • "Foods were awesome! Especiall for Kale Salad which mixed with cranberries and almonds, little sweet and salty, it's perfect! Desserts were wonderful also. Trio of Gelato was nice! But the surroundings were too dark when I got there. Even we need use our flashlights on the phone to order."

  • "Have been dining in & using Giorgio's for catering for over 10 years w/ great satisfaction in both areas. This is a restaurant I heartily reccommend to everyone who likes good hearty food, a pleasant atmosphere & attentive friendly service, all at a reasonable price. Giorgio's offers something for almost everyone. While their speciality is excellent pasta, they also offer a acomplete variety of meat & fish dishes all handled with equal integrity. I had regularly used Giorgio's to cater corporate events to the delight of some very picky eaters. They continue to please so I expect to be dining there for years to come. Only negative: wish they offered more variety in desserts."

  • "We started coming 2 years ago and have been please with the overall experience. Service is great. Food is very good nothing too fancy but the quality is good. Not a "want to be seen" trendy restaurant which we prefers, we come here for nice meal and the great service."

  • "We picked this address by crossing different review and website and I can say this was one my best Italian I ever had. (I'm from europe) For the starter we picked antipasti plate recently introduce with every product perfectly selected (old parmigiano, 2 sorts of salami, prosciutto, olives, papricorn, fennel truffle...) That day, the chief also put on the menu a new recipe of his Risotto... Umm how to descriebe it? Amazing, GO and try by yourself :) I took a glass of a delicious Montelpuciano which was a perfect fit with these dishes. At the end we asked to meet with the chief to congratulate for our overall experience. I do hope for those of you who read this article that both plates will stay on the menu (this was mid July)"

  • "I brought my relatives from out of town here as a last minute plan to share dinner. We all have great taste so I was pleased when everyone was impressed with their food. We tasted each other's dish and was consistently impressed. The fried oysters with cream spinach, the mac & cheese w/Lobster, the ribeye and the caramelized scallops - ALL YUM! Service was great. The lighting was a bit dimmer than usual, so people used their cell phone lights to read the menus, but the food made up for that. The dessert that many rave about is S'more Bread Pudding. I do no like bread pudding but this tricked my taste buds with the rich chocolate. It actually tasted just like a really good s'more. I will definitely go back to enjoy more options on the menu."

  • "We went to Giorgio's with a group of out of town business guests and had a wonderful time. Eveyone chose a different entree--a couple fish, some pasta--and everyone raved about their choice. Service was attentive but not intrusive. The background music added to the atmosphere--we could hear it without the music interfering with our lively converstaion."

  • "While my motivation for choosing Giorgio's of Gramercy was proximity to a client and the consideration was more a business meeting than the cuisine, I am confident my first visit will lead to others. The space was informally elegant. The food (Caesar salad and a penne pasta) had a fine presentation and was simple yet delicious. Ambient noise was for the most part non-existent allowing uninterrupted communication for the solid 90 minutes. I'll be back soon."

  • "We've been to this restaurant before and decided to come back with our friends to celebrate a birthday and anniversary. Our food came out cold and the steak was fatty. I don't know if the kitchen was overwhelmed because there were 2 huge tables of patrons. The noise level was intolerable. Very disappointed."
