Diner Reviews
  • "Our service was great; the food was mostly good; but it was overcrowded & very tight; hard to have a conversation or move about"

  • "A little cosy restaurant with a nice ambience. Price and quality of food and service are very good! I would go again!"

  • "It was time for the annual bday dinner with an old and dear friend. Where to go? She suggested Giorgio's of Gramercy. I always had a good meal there, but hadn't been in ages. The menu was wonderful and so was the food and service. Every seat was taken, and the place is not big but it didn't feel cramped. I won't wait so long to return again!"

  • "The service was top notch. Great Italian food with and over-achieving staff of service professionals."

  • "I would say the food at Georgio's was in the very good category if not quite outstanding. It was very quiet compared to many places and I definitely consider that a plus. Also so dark that not only us but all the people around us had to use their cell phone flashlights to see the menu! They did remember that I had mentioned it was my son's birthday and brought out one of the desserts with a candle which I appreciated. Considering how difficult it can be to find a pleasant place to dine where you can actually hold a conversation I would award them a few extra points for that!"

  • "Giorgio's is my favorite Italian restaurant in the entire city!! We come here at least once a month - and have never, ever been disappointed. The service is outstanding. Anytime we have family visiting (including very picky, very difficult to please family), they have a wonderful time and a great meal. Every dish we've tried has exceeded expectations. On Friday nights, they have an AMAZING seafood paella. Also, the sommelier, James, is brilliant and so passionate about wine. He always recommends a new and delicious glass of wine. He knows his cocktails too. We order delivery from here on occasion as well. The fries and paninis are AMAZING."

  • "We ordered the prix-fixe with the wine pairing. We loved the appetizer (timbale of avocado and artichoke) and were happy with the steak and the branzino, both plated with interesting sauces and vegetables. The only disappointment was the "signature dessert", a chocolate bread pudding which was plenty for two (although the waiter advised getting one per person) but not delicious enough for more than two bites. The wines were well-matched to the food. The host was most gracious."

  • "Giorgio's has always been a good go-to neighborhood joint. The sparkle is off the rose a bit; food is a little heavy, but portion sizes are OK. Decor is a little tired. All-in-all, I prefer Via Emilia"

  • "The roasted oysters were a new sensation for all of us at the table. Party of 6, and no one wasn't extremely happy with the food, the evening, the service. If I had to complain about something, I guess it's that I didn't expect the gelato interior of the Baked Alaska to be as stiff as typical ice cream. I've never had gelato that wasn't creamy before. Would we go again: definitely. But we'll wait a few months to let the experience dissipate so we have a shot at it again."

  • "This was the best dining experience my wife and I have ever had. The restaurant has a cool vibe to it. Every member of the staff from top to bottom was a true professional. I had dinner picked put until the waiter told me the specials. I changed my mind and couldn't have been happier. I had the roasted oysters and paella, both of which were out of this world. My wife had rigatoni with pancetta, peas and cream. It was hands down the best pasta dish I've ever had. The drinks before dinner were perfect (aged Manhattan), the recommended wine fit with dinner perfectly. I always thought I wouldn't go to the same restaurant twice in New York, but I will definitely be back here."

  • "I have been here several times, and the service is outstanding (e.g. if you show only the slightest hesitation in picking a wine they will bring you a taste without having to ask for it - little things like that is what are remembered). Great apps and we had the porterhouse for two as a main - just finished the leftovers at home three days later. Meat was cooked to perfection (often when you ask medium rare the ends will be close to well done and the middle part just medium, but here they got it right!). Will return again for another special occasion date."

  • "I had an 830 reservation for 4, but had to wait until 9 to be seated, it was friday night so no big deal and they gave us a complimentary burrata for the wait. Unfortunately later on the waiter got my dinner entre order wrong (lamb instead of the salmon)... he gave me a small salad as while he put in the new order and it came out in under 10 minutes. Unfortunately when the order came out it was completely raw and not cooked so I had to send it back.. This time he gave us a few complimentary glasses of wine.. Everyone else enjoyed their dishes and the wine was good -- and I know these things happen from time to time. With all the other options in NY, would I go back? Maybe.."

  • "I have visited Giorgio's twice for dinner during Restaurant Week and again last week for lunch with friends. Every time I was impressed with the quality and presentation of the food, and the very pleasant and accommodating service. There is a fairly wide selection of options for lunch. The pastas were excellent, and the appetizers (especially the calamari), were delicious and large enough for sharing. The three girlfriends I brought along definitely enjoyed the experience."

  • "Terrific food--great animal protein standards like perfect little lamb chops, first-rate duck, mussels in a slightly spicy cream sauce. This restaurant is not a place for intimate conversation. Even though the management kindly seated us far from the bar, the din was almost unbearable."

  • "The food was oh-my-god good! Their todays special fish got lot of praize and I ate the Porterhouse with a friend. TIP! The porterhouse is big enough for three people. The trufflefries were amazing, as were the baked oysters. The desseet, my oh my, I have never had anything so wonderful: S'mores breadpudding. When I come back to NYC I will have to go back and relive the s'mores dream. The sommelier at Giorgios deserves a big thank you, he was so friendly and helpful, as a wine enthusiast we had a lot to talk about. He gave us tips on jazz clubs as we were leaving. The whole experience was great. Thank you"

  • "On my visit to NYC, found this restaurant on Yelp and Opentable. The food was incredible. Split an excellent salad of beets, apple and pears with sherry dressing. Then had their evening special of black bass. This was the best fish entree I ever had anywhere. Crispy pan fried black bass over roasted zucchinis and onions and topped with tempura haricot verts. The combination was out of this world. Everything was cooked to perfection. I would skip tiramisu dessert which had too much mascarpone cheese. Noise level was high, and difficult to carry on a conversation."

  • "Have been to this establishment before. There since 1993. An institution. Food is CONSISTENT. Waiters and waitresses on top of everything. Maitre' de pleasant. A wonderful experience not to be missed, seating can be unique for parties of two. Again... food is CONSISTENT. For a sure thing.. why would you go anywhere else when in the Flatiron area???"

  • "I am here frequently and once again the experience was top notch. This time they did an off-menu item (Seafood Risotto) for my date. I opted for the Prix Fixe dinner option consisting of the Escarole Salad, Espresso Rubbed Ribeye and S'More Bread pudding. This is what I usually get since it is sooo good. They also accommodated my table request once again. Wonderful restaurant that seems to be getting more and more popular as time goes by."

  • "Great place but the lighting wasn't, it was a little too dark, without the aid of bright lights from a cell phone you couldn't read the menu. Though the Maitre'd has a portable handheld bright mini-flashlight. :) Ernesto our waiter was fantastic, friendly and professional as was Josh the Maitre'd and other wait staff throughout the evening. I'd had to cancel my first reservation to Giogio's last summer but this truly made up for it and that we were with good friends was even better. Thanks for your patience and help with everything Josh, you're a great front house manager."

  • "The ambience, service and food is appropriate for a special celebration at a reasonable price. Our party of 4 had a bottle of red wine, Giorgio's Antipasto, Caesar Salad, Seared Pork Chop, Caramelized Sea Scallops, and Grilled Porterhouse Steak for 2. All the dishes were Delicious and beautifully presented except for the Caesar salad. One of the diners said the salad was a lazy man's salad. It was a small head of romaine with dressing drizzled on it and some croutons on the side. The dressing was also not that tasty. The pork chop was a very big portion that we took most of it home. It was still delicious, tender and moist even after being microwaved. PS It is a bit dark in there that they provide a sort of a flashlight to read the menu."

  • "The soup du jour and both main courses were great. Not as thrilled about the dessert. Service was good but wanted a little more anticipatory service on beverage refills (bottle of wine and water). Went with a friend from out of town who enjoyed it and would go back."

  • "I dine here frequently and love the non pretentious atmosphere and superb service and food. There is not one thing I've tried on the menu that wasn't excellent. There are 2 tables I generally sit at and they accommodate my request every time. Wish I remembered the host's name since he is very gracious and accommodating. Even checks in to make sure the meal is fine. If you like beer, try the Jai Alai IPA. Very unique and hard to find."

  • "As a Foodie from San Francisco, I am picky with high expectations. I grew up in Manhattan, in this neighborhood, and wish I had discovered Giorgio's sooner! Love the atmosphere and great value for food, service , ambience....and we ate there on a Sunday night , to find out that all wines are discounted by $15 bucks, Way cool. Our server, James, IS the wine guy for Giorgio's. He made our evening with his recommendations and fabulous service. Wish this place was in our neighborhood in SF.."

  • "One of the best meals I've had. I wanted to go to out for restaurant week and this had the best prix fixe menu I could find. The food surpassed my expectations. On top, the service was very welcoming and attentive, and i enjoyed the atmosphere. I have told everyone about it, can't wait to go back."

  • "I first tried this restaurant because a friend of mine said "you can't get a bad meal at Giorgio's"...and she was right. The food is consistently delicious and the service is excellent. The prices are reasonable and alwyas a good value. This has now become one of my "go to" restaurants. Eat at Giorgio's and you won't be disappointed."

  • "The maitre d' was so accommodating both when I called to confirm and when I arrived. He remembered that we joked on the phone about the mix up with my name. He is - dare I say - a warm person. The service was perfect. Food was wonderful; prices were surprisingly moderate and they served the best Manhattan I've ever had and I've been drinking Manhattans for 30 years. I would return any time I am in NY and I would recommend it to others."
