  • Parking Details: Downtown parking is tricky, but we are close to 2 parking garages and several hourly parking lots. Also on the weekends and after 6 pm street parking is free.

  • "The restaurant was full and its a good thing we had reservations. A family of six was being seated in the bar w/o reservations but I overheard kids were ok there as long as not sitting at the bar. The staff was very polite and accomodating. Our waiter talked to the chef to ensure certain allergens were not being used. The Vegan curry dish was delicious though the portion seemed very small and left us wanting more. The ginger peach sorbet for dessert was fabulous. I wont hesitate to dine here again."

  • "My husband took me out for my birthday and we had a lovely time. He had the Scallop Mac and Cheese (his favorite thing to order when shark isn't available) and I indulged in the Mee Krob, which did not disappoint. Our server was polite and expeditious, particularly when I mentioned we were trying to make it to a movie later that evening. We found Ginger one random night in November and since then has become "our place" for special occasions or surprise date nights. The staff is always wonderful, informative and friendly, and the food is always amazing and worth the extra hour on the treadmill. Overall, it's a gem in Anchorage's already full downtown restaurant scene, and it's perfect for a night on the town."

At first those potatoes were a little overwhelming, but when eaten with the scallops in a smaller amount it let the scallops stand on their own to start with and then followed up with a very complementary and interesting taste.   • "Fun menu. Smart to ask our party if we were going to the show in order to make sure we were out in time (I did put that in my reservations but its nice to know they read it). Apps came out quickly but drinks and dinner were pretty slow. Dinners who ordered desert had to get them to go after the main course lagged for delivery time. Good food but it was a bit slow for knowing when we had to leave. All in all a good time was had."

  • "I was a bit hesitant in dining here as I had never had eaten at this restaurant. My cousin and I had reservations to dine before heading to the PAC to enjoy a show. Our table was ready for us when we arrived, everyone from the host/hostess to a friendly gentleman who delivered our cocktails were wonderful, friendly and helpful. I had never eaten here before and was given great recommendations on everything from my cocktail to the main course. The service was reasonable in time considering there was a big crowd for middle of the week, our server told us that the bar service was starting to take a bit longer and asked us for refills just in time. Our whole meal and experience was fabulous and I will be returning for more great food!"

Other tables who came after us got food, but some tables only got half of their food, and half of their table had to leave with nothing. Our drinks were graciously comped, but we were very disappointed because the smells from around us implied the food would have been quite tasty."

We got there on time, and our server said that we had "plenty of time" before the David Sedaris show. However, the place was packed, the servers looked slightly panicked, and when 7:10 came and went and the food had not come yet, we left. Others at another table were quitting the place, putting on their coats when their food finally came, and they'd been there longer than us. Sorry, folks, but I just can't recommend a restaurant if I didn't get a chance to eat at it. ( I wanted to rank this restaurant with zero stars because i didn't eat, but there has to be a star on this form.)"

  • "The staff of Ginger for turning my mistake into a wonderful evening. I made online reservations for what I thought was Valentines evening at 5:30pm. We arrived at the appointed time only to find out that I had mistakenly made the reservation for the next night. The place was PACKED. I knew from experience that there was no chance of getting into any other high quality restaurant on such short notice on Valentines day. Fortunately the Maitre d' us to wait a minute. He talked with his wait staff and they found us a table for 2 in the bar area. Everything was wonderful and our Valentines evening away from home was saved by a very caring staff and wonderful food. We will return and highly recommend Ginger to friends and family."

The bar is designed for great outings with friends with the opportunity to interact with others. Like with the food items, a sense of artistry and dedication is given to the cocktail menu. Whether it's their perfections on the classics (hands down th best Sazerac) or one of their fantastic creations, Ginger's drinks illustrate what enjoying alcohol should be all about.   • "I love the decor here but, beyond that, this place isn't anything special. The panang curry was too salty, not sweet, spicy, or sour enough (try adding pineapple!). The service was fine but the food just leaves something to be desired for the price (and inconvenience of trying to park downtown). The menu is lacking. I prefer shrimp or chicken in my panang rather than beef but there is no choice for this."

Our date was fabulous, we had so much fun, dinner was the highlight of the evening. The service was exceptional, server lead us in the right direction for having the best results. The flavor from ever dish and cocktail still lingers in my mouth wanting to go back as soon as possible, you know when my husband and I go out we go all out because why not we hardly ever do it.   • "we attend plays at Cyrano's Theatre Company. It has become a custom of ours on theatre nights to go down town Anchorage and have dinner prior to the performance. The theatres there are located in the heart of an area where many restaurants offer fine cuisine. We often choose "Gingers". We often get there early, 5:30 PM when they just start to fill up yet. One time they just received some fresh troll caught King Salmon from Sitka, it is rare this time of year to find fresh King Salmon on the menu. I eat a lot of salmon and this was prepared and cooked to absolute perfection. Yummy. Also we usually have their "Oyster Shooters" using fresh Alaska grown oysters. Another yummy."

  • "We went to Ginger for my birthday dinner. I had heard nothing but good things about the restaurant. I must admit, all of us in the dinner party were beyond disappointed in the dinner. Though the fish and meat were cooked perfectly, the portions were extremely small and very bizaar. We were supposed to have steamed veggies with our dinner. Their idea of a steamed veggie for one of us was rice wrapped in a grape leaf and drowning in chicken broth and mine was a small dollop of mixed lettuce. I can guarantee we won't every patronize this restaurant again."

It really does not matter what your food preferences are...this dish is fantastic! The size was way more than I should have had, but I could not stop eating it. It was a delicious gluttonous experience. The curry's and fish dishes we tried were all fantastic. And the drinks...wonderful. I started with a ginger-infused delicious spectacular drink, and enjoyed various tastes from other drinks in our party--all spectacular. Whether business lunch, romantic evening, or evening with friends...this is our new "Go-To" spot. LOVE IT!"

  • "For those of you on the fence about trying Ginger please give them a shot. My wife and I have been three times now and have had three wonderful meals. The beer and wine selection is top notch in my opinion. The food as always is an eclectic mix of choices that always try to tempt me away from my favorite the Mee Krob (for now). If you are worried about the price point then this isn't the kind if restaurant you will be going to anyways. If you want a delicious special meal that you will not soon forget make reservations and be prepared to go on a wildly scrumptious ride."
