A word from Gilt Bar
A bunch of fine dining chefs and wine directors got together to create a casual restaurant that is inclusive and void of excess. The idea was to bring people together who are set on having a great night out surrounded by quality food (presented in a simple fashion), craft cocktails, beers and wine list focused on best value for the $'s.

Reservations made through Open Table will be for Gilt Bar's main dining room. If you would like to dine in our Library please call the restaurant after 2pm.

  • "Our waitress was amazing - her name is Megan. The food is excellent and I would definitely go back for the Gnocchi. The bread with garlic was amazing as well. The next time we go back, we are definitely going to try the Steak appetizer. When the food was brought out, we always got an explanation about what it was and everything was done to perfection. You must go to this place. The drinks were on par too - tasty and classy."

  • "Love sitting in the library, but this is now the second time we've had the same waitress (I'm not going to mention her name), and she is just an impatient, easily annoyed, person. It's not the tip. We gave her 20% last time and even this time...against my wife's recommendation. All else is great, so for now, for the best experience, it is best to sit upstairs instead of down."

  • "This is one of those places that likes to carry itself as if it's one of the Elite. My experience was ok, but the service was slow and predictable. If you're doing to pay Gilt process you want a full experience, I don't feel as if we got that. We had reservations and they held us at the door as if we were walk ins. It's a great place nonetheless, it just takes itself for granted sometimes."

We had dinner and drinks in the Library, where the quiet, private ambiance and the family-style sharing of food was exactly what we wanted. Highly recommend the brussel sprout salad, the mussels, and the roasted chicken. The food was understated and delicious. The service was discreet and timely. I would definitely recommend."

  • "We got the chicken entree which was juicy and flavorful, but definitely enough to feed three people so I'm glad we split it. The broccoli side dish was probably the best I've had, and we ended with their brown butter apple cake with salted caramel ice cream which was a great end to the meal. I highly recommend this place!"

  • "I arrived about 30 minutes early with two guests for a 10pm reservation. I checked in with the host and asked if they would be able to seat us a little early as they had three to four open tables. He replied that would try to seat us as soon as possible. My guests and I ordered drinks and then stood next to the hosts podium and patiently waited to be seated - which never happened! We actually waited until 11pm before leaving and going someplace else. The host and a couple of members of the staff spent allot of time socializing with each other instead of taking care of the guests. There was no excuse for my party being ignored for an hour and a half while standing right next the the host. We will not be returning based on the poor service."

The chicken was very moist and the brussel sprouts were tasty! The only negative was that when you walked into the bar in smelled like stale beer."

  • "The hostess at the front is rude. The effort to make the bar experience trendy has gone overboard into rude. Reserving tables for work colleagues to gather @ 5:00 provides a definitive location which is great. However when a few more people show up than were included in the reservation the staff should make every effort to accommodate. When I asked one of the adjoining tables if I could use one of their chairs....they said certainly. The adjacent booth was empty with plenty of room for the extra chair between the two booths. As soon as I began moving the chair the hostess grabbed my hand removed it from the chair and scolded me like a child. Our group planned to remain for a few hours and eat. However we departed."

  • "Wonderful lighting and ambiance at this foodie paradise. The selection is tremendous and dishes are meant to be shared. We started with creamy Burata and Tapenade on Grilled Bread. We ordered the 20 oz coal grilled Rib Eye as our entree escorted by Mashed Potatoes, Beet and Arugula salad and Broccoli. The steak was smokey grilled to med rare perfection and sliced for sharing. Good wines and specialty cocktails are great accompaniments. After dining on Tues night with my work colleagues, I went back on Thursday with my sisters. We had the Rib Eye and Burata again but had the shaved Brussel Sprout salad and the grilled Cauli. I live in N. CA and eat at Michael Chiarello's Botega in Napa and Guilt really does rival his place. Book it now."

We've tried literally everything on the menu from salad to app to pasta, seafood and meat. All fantastic. And while mashed potatoes might sound boring, theirs with the chicken gravy is something I dream about. Finish it all even if it hurts, or you will regret it the next day"

The food was delicious (especially the pork belly and cauliflower), drinks were great and our server was attentive. While I would certainly go back and it's a place I would recommend to others, the one drawback was the menu selection. In my opinion, it was a little light on choices. But that is not a deal breaker."

  • "Gilt Bar used to be in our regular Tuesday night rotation. No more. This visit was a drag, and (as we told the host on the way out), there a lot of restaurants to choose from in Chicago. The good: the steak tartar was very good; and the Manhattan (as always) was excellent. The bad: the house white wine smelled like grape juice and tasted like syrup; the "classic" Caesar salad had no garlic or brine, it was just drenched in a whole lotta lemony mayo and some fish. The mains - these were fine, but we were so annoyed by the poor service (we had had to flag down our waiter to order mains; to order wine; and then to return wine) and by the absence of cauliflower (which the same waiter had forgotten to order) that I don't remember them in detail."

We started with a couple drinks, which were quite yummy and well-made, and the roasted garlic toast - delicious. Dinner was also great, but we were most impressed with our waiter - I wish I could remember his name! He gave us great recommendations on both food and drinks, and even threw in the most delicious hot fudge sauce for my icecream at the end. He also told us about a few jazz clubs to visit afterwards - Andy's was awesome! Thanks!"

  • "Spoiler Alert: gushy review. It IS a bit loud up front. For quiet seek out the back. I requested a romantic spot when I made the reservation as it was a late Valentine's dinner: back corner booth. Perfect. Not a cocktail person. HAVE the cocktails. Start with the roasted garlic. Frankly you could finish with that too! Don't like brussel sprouts. HAVE the brussel sprout salad. Not an encyclopaedic wine list, just exactly what you need. Gilt is not a steak house, but I had the best steak I can remember. The ambience might have been the highlight, however: soft lights, gentle murmur of conversation (because we had a booth at the back), attentive, unrushed, efficient service... My top recommendation in Chicago."
