Gilmore’s Restaurant, located at 133 East Gay Street in historic down-town West Chester, is a dream come true for chef owner Peter Gilmore and his wife, Susan. After 22 noteworthy years at Le Bec-Fin, Peter opened this intimate BYOB serving exceptional French cuisine in 2001 and has received ”best… of” awards ever since. Gilmore’s was most recently included in Zagats World’s Top Restaurants 2008/09 with a rating of “Extraordinary to Perfection” in both food and service. In addition, Open Table diners rated Gilmore’s “Best Food” and “Best Overall” in the Philadelphia, New Jersey region. Guests on weeknights have the option of choosing from the award winning bistro menu or chef’s tasting menu in addition to the regular fare.Continued

"This was a perfect place for a birthday celebration. I liked the changes to the menu, allowing several courses for tasting and the main dish was a fair size. Service was professional and well timed. We will eat here again for a special occasion."

"We LOVE Gilmore's! My husband and I go there every year for our anniversary! We tell everyone to go there! My only disappointment this year is that there was no lobster main dish special, which is what I always get."

"The sauces for Escargots and Duck Leg were a little bit salty. Seared Ahi Tuna and Seared Hanger Steak were excellent. Chocolate "Chaud Froid" was a pleasant surprise. Cherry Claufoutis was ordinary."

"After spending 6 months at our Winter home, we anxiously await our return to Gilmore's in West Chester. Peter and his staff never fail to provide us with superb cuisine, excellent service, and wonderful choices! Would that we could "clone" them!!"

"Second time at Gilmore's. Entrees are always outstanding. This time we had a rather disappointing special for the second course. Probably should have stuck With the main menu. BYoB is a big plus, but a lack of a bar means there is no place to wait, so plan to arrive close to your reservation. Service is outstanding as well. I had the short ribs. She had the striped bass. Both were excellent. Quiet atmosphere.I give it 4.5 stars."

"Any fan of fine dining, including great food and service would love Gilmore's. As a BYOB, it's also a great value. Although the food and service stands up with any place in Philly, for the suburbs, it truly stands out."
