Diner Reviews
  • "We loved having lunch with the statue of liberty outside in Gigino's open air tent. The food was excellent, the service was good and the view was stunning. Not the cheapest place to eat and they only have one bathroom but this is a great place to have lunch or dinner if the weather is good."

  • "One of my new favorites. Breathtaking view with not only professional but very friendly wait staff. Great cocktails and food."

  • "…given the great view of the Statue of Liberty. The service was very attentive, but they were crowded on a bright, summer weekday lunch (1-2.30) and got a bit overwhelmed. But no matter: if you have the time, lingering is mandatory. The food was quite good, and the dessert (warm lemon-y bread pudding) was a standout. Reservations a must. They were turning away hopeful tourists in droves. It's impossible to park. Take public transport. However, from the 4-5 subway do NOT walk through the park—halfway there, it's closed for construction."

  • "Such a great place, time after time, especially in the summer when you can sit outside comfortably and feel part of the beautiful surroundings in Wagner Park, facing the Statue of Liberty. There was a blues concert the night I dined, so it was noisy, and there wer a lot of big groups, but the food, service and location more than make up for it."

  • "The views of the water and statue of liberty were fantastic! The food matched the view which was great. I had the blue cheese/ apple salad, fried calamari both to start and the shrimp and mussel risotti was one of the best risotti's I've had in a long time. Looking forward to returning to get thi exact same dish again. Service didn't let us down. 5 stars for all categories. Great location for a business lunch as wel."

  • "This restaurant is right on the Hudson with a direct line view of the Statue of Liberty. The Hudson River Parkway runs in front of it so the ambiance is lively. I have to say the food was fine but not super memorable and the portions were a bit small. The pricing was not bad for Manhattan so maybe that cancels out the portion size comment. Everything ala carte. They charge for every fill on sodas. $10 each for a beer on tap. Did not offer extra bread. Had to really push to get a table out of direct sun etc. We enjoyed it but not dying to go back."

  • "Best kept secret in lower Manhattan! Out of the hustle and bustle and great view of the harbor, Lady Liberty and Ellis Island. Out of towner's should put in on their list for lunch or dinner after the hectic touring of times square and the mid-town madness. Very relaxing, no one pushes you to finish and turn the table over."

  • "Very nice covered outdoor seating area in back overlooking the water, sailboats, etc. Good food and attentive service. We enjoyed our late lunch on a Saturday afternoon there."

  • "This restaurant was ok but it is not as nice as I had hoped. The location is cool as it does have a view of the water but it is a very basic building and kind rundown. There was a baby shower next to us so they were the focus of the servers and we had a table off to the side with a huge fan blowing down on us. I think there are better places to have lunch, but maybe our issue was just bad timing. The food was good, we had salads and some bruschetta, hard to mess that up, it was good."

  • "We order and we waited like 45 min,, my kids were hungry!!! So we waited politely. The drinks were also very slow ... No one came to our table to se if we needed something. When finally we finished , i had a so so salomon...the waitress took hours to pick up the table! I like the view, the food not so good,, it was very expensive for what we ate.. The only thing was that my kids like the place... Not me!!!! I dont know why they dont watch their table service!!! It would be nicer if they did."

  • "Upon arrival we sat at the bar for a drink- It was dirty and sloppy- Tables are too close in dining room- noisy and felt like a picnic. Food was mediocre at best and not one server checked back.better service on the turnpike rest area"

  • "There is no better place in NYC for outdoor dining on the water and great views. That's why I gave this restaurant 5 stars. However, the pasta dishes we had (pasta padrino/beets and spaghetti with clams) while good were much too salty. There was so much salt in the pasta dishes that I think we maxed out our salt intake for the week. Need to change the recipes!"

  • "We walked past this restaurant on a visit to NYC four years ago and didn't go in since we were not so hungry at the time. Then on a recent return visit, did a bit of research online for a birthday dinner spot on (as it happens) 4 July. Unbeknownst to us, the one we picked to go to was the same one we'd walked past last time. And so glad we had a second chance! Great location, food superb, prices reasonable and staff helpful and efficient. And a view of fireworks on the harbour as a super bonus. A perfect night for us and somewhere to come back to again!"

  • "My only complaint is that, without exception, every single time I eat here, there are parents who let their kids run around on the lawn in front of the tables. The kids scream and cry and do what kids do, which is fine of course. I just wish they didn't have to do it while I'm eating my $50 dinner. Other than that, this is one of my favorite places in the city when the weather is nice."

  • "I am a longtime fan and neighborhood customer of Gigino on Greenwich Street...and Gigino at Wagner Park is nothing like it. While the outdoor dining space and views were lovely, the food was below average and the service was harried and just plain bad - like most tourist traps in NYC. I think they need to change the name of this restaurant so it isn't confused or associated with the lovely, cozy and always delicious Gigino's on Greenwich Street. I won't be back unless it is for a simple glass of prosecco to watch the sunset."

  • "Gigino at wagner park is the sibling of Gigino tribeca...both neighborhood gems where kids are welcome and accommodated but the food and wine selection are sophisticated enough for adults too. This one has a lovely view of the statue of liberty and ellis island with a river breeze and a slow visible sunset. Serving about twelve different pastas, including the notable spaghetti padrino with beets , white anchovies and parsley, pizzas , and other Italian meat and fish specials, the price is right for a nice dinner al fresco."

  • "Great spin on traditional Italian pasta dishes with extra care and variation on the creative ingredients. Lots of shrimp dishes and best broccoli rave I've ever eaten. All this with a priceless view of the Statue of Liberty and a glorious sunset lighting the sky over Jersey City."

  • "I should've known better. I dont get down to Financial much, the view looked incredible, so thought I'd give it a shot as my date was from out of town. I walked in & saw fanny packs and cameras and knew I had entered a tourist trap. The hostess was very nice - we were early for our reservation & very hungry so she sat us early-otherwise, service was eh. Burrata with yellow tomato app was great. My ceasar salad had slices of raw red bell peppers on it - enough said. Looked for something they couldnt mess up too bad, and settled on Orchiette with Broc Rabe and sausage. It was pretty tasty & pasta was al dente. Date had simple grilled salmon. Also decent. Overall, I wouldnt recommend it. Get the view from the walkway and bring your own food."

  • "It's such a shame that a restaurant with one of the most beautiful settings in NYC has such wildly mediocre food. Nearly every item is either slightly off or of poorer quality than you'd expect from a middle of the road Italian restaurant (truly my expectations are never that high.) I live in the neighborhood, and am sort of desperate to love Gigino's, but it seems to be impossible."

  • "My daughter and I had a great time at Gigino's. We were there on a rainy day and were still able to sit outside under an umbrella so that we could enjoy the water views and Statue of Liberty. Lunch was fine, shrimp cocktail was delicious, although 4 shrimp for $24 was a little steep. Our waiter was very cordial, and did not rush us even though they were preparing for a large party. The only negative was the extremely rude busboy who decided to remove our umbrella while we were eating, without asking our permission. As he tilted the umbrella I was almost drenched with rain which had accumulated on top of it. He had no apologies, only a surprisingly nasty attitude and comment about having to set up for the party. Otherwise a lovely day"

  • "A little piece if Eden on the Hudson. We went there for lunch after touring the 911 Museum. Gorgeous outdoor setting, complete with sailboats and the Statue of Liberty. The food was outstanding. I had tuna tartare and their special pasta puttanesca. I can't wait to go back!"

  • "We were able to have lunch here when the weather was perfect......so they opened all of the walls! And, it was breathtaking to see the Statue of Liberty while at lunch. The food was awesome, the service was great, and the view was worth a million bucks!!"

  • "Took my work team here for dinner, great outside seating with beautiful view of the harbor and the Statue of Liberty. A nice tent structure covers the patio that protects from inclement weather but does not obstruct the view. Most importantly, the food is fabulous. The linguine with clams is outstanding. Everyone loved the food. Great wine list. Efficient and friendly service. Great spot overall."

  • "Had a wonderful time. Loved the view of the Statue of Liberty. Awesome evening with friends. I had been two years ago so I knew how great it was. My wife, child and friends ( who had never been ) thought I was a hero for suggesting Gigino's!!!"

  • "Should have known when we entered as the entrance was dirty and they could not seat us on time. No place to wait except stand near the "hostess". Food was inedible and 2 of us hardly touched our meal. Many tables of large parties. I believe the only reason this place exists is because it is near tourist attractions. I was embarrassed as I had out of town guests with me. Also no where was it mentioned that all seating is outdoors and we weren't properly dressed. Worst restaurant I have eaten at in many many years. Don't even think of going."

  • "The food was good but the restaurant is best for the view of lady liberty. However, if you can figure out who is actually your waiter, make sure it's not the man who was incredibly creepy and rude. He accosted me for having my phone on the table, refused to give me a plate for our appetizers, then as we were leaving he stood at our table and watched us gather our things and made another rude comment to me. We were made to feel so uncomfortable that we won't be returning. "

  • "Service was good; even with reservations we waited 20 minutes to be seated; the food was not up to expectations: unseasoned and fairly mediocre. No restaurant should ever charge over $20 for a dish that claims to contain shrimp only to be served with those 100 to a lb nibs of not yet a crustacean-- in fact no real restaurant should even list them as anything other than shrimp stuffing. Desserts and wine were excellent. Great view. 1 unisex bathroom creates long uncomfortable lines."

  • "Great view of the Hudson River & Lady Liberty, but average food & average service. Hostess not very friendly, feeling the energy of "just doing her job". Only 1 small restroom for the whole restaurant. Tables are very close to one another. You could literally hear every words of the people dining beside you. Also, the other table behind us, a couple who were smokers & they just stepped away (not together though, one at a time) maybe 2 to 3 ft. from their table & started smoking, since the restaurant is on the park, maybe they can smoke, but it's just sad that children were beside them when they did. Overall, dining experience is just okay. Battery Gardens beside them is much better, from awesome food to an excellent service. "

  • "The only thing that tops the amazing southern Italian food served here, is the amazing views of the Hudson and The Statue of Liberty. If you cant get to the Amalfi coast get over to Gigino's Wagner Park! Suggestions of dishes to try Linguine alle Vongole, Tagliatelle alla Bolognese, Pollo alla Milanese. ANY PIZZA and the meatballs."

  • "First of all, the interior seemed neglected, since the most tables are outside. When the indoor area was packed, we wished that the bartender avoided using his blender, it felt like dining inside of a Jumba Juice store. Food was tasty, but lacked presentation. We had a birthday party, therefore tried a lot of dishes. Mussels Gorgonzola, marinated fish salad, roasted zucchini were our favorites. Branzino, braised beef shoulder and lamb ossobuco were wonderful. Service: our waiter was pulling bad tricks that made our experience suffer: pouring half a bottle of wine into one wine glass and telling everyone to order sides as if the main dishes only came with "garnish" - that's just not nice to your guests. We pbbly won't return. "
