They held our table (nice) while we watched the Belmont Stakes on TV in their very pleasantly appointed bar / lounge. Martinis are excellent, if pricey, but after all this is Chicagoland and to be expected in a fine dining establishment. When it came time for dinner in the restaurant, we were most pleased with the ambience, presentations of menu and the wait staff is both sufficient in number and proficient. We each had a petite filet mignon and it was perfectly cooked to our satisfaction and it was served hot. The mashed potatoes with wine gravy were delicious. When leaving we commented that this definitely is a repeat next time were in the Chicago area. HIs ribeye and my prime rib were done to perfection and so tasty. We had the baked sweet potato - divine -, a regular baked potato, scrumptious creamed spinach, and delicious mushrooms. Everything was seasoned perfectly - and as an added treat the waiter heard me say it was my husband's birthday so he brought a HUGE chocolate sundae which topped off the perfect meal!! This was a real treat for us, our second time here, and we were not disappointed! Our waiter was knowledgeable, courteous, and friendly without being pushy. We requested a certain seating area and got exactly what we wanted. Good job on that. The waitress we had that evening was not at her best. She was rather slow and didn.t check up on us after the dinner came. When she did come it was too late, and decided to go into the bar. The piano player they had there was very good. The meal was wonderful, and the service was fantastic - quick, friendly and professional. He enjoyed a smaller filet mignon with mashed potatoes, and I had fish (tilapia with crab). We both loved our entrees. We split a HUGE piece of carrot cake for dessert - took a lot of it home.
My only issue with the restaurant was that it was quite loud. It was hard to hear. We also seemed to be seated on a very busy "corner," with lots of people trying to squeeze past our table. The worst was the busboy who dragged a garbage can right past our table. Just trying to do his job, but still...

We are never disappointed at Gibsons Oak Brook. Love the staff, they go out of their way to deliver excellence every time. We go there as often as possible. From the hostess guest greeters, to the wait staff (Jackie one of our favorites) to the management team John, and Terry....love this crew.
The outdoor seating is divine, great ambiance, energy level is perfect, not stuffy like other places! A must visit if you love great food, and wine, and want to enjoy evening from start to finish! Jackie is the best. Portions are huge so come hungry. Some of our favorites are: the Chicago cut, steak salad, crab cakes, avocado crab appetizer. Truly, we have never had a bad choice so there are lots of options. I should mention even though Gibsons is a steak house all their fish options are phenomenal. The outdoor seating area is very pleasant. We've requested and did eventually got our previous server to wait onus. She is no doubt one of the best as far as knowledge,suggestions,and friendliness. The food was of excellent quality, and quite good. We had a debate whether it was better than Morton's, and decided Morton's is just a tad better. We went early, ~6PM, and it was reasonably quiet, but grew louder as it got later and the tables filled up. Our table was very close to the neighboring tables, which was our biggest issue. My chair kept getting bumped as wait staff and other patrons walked by. Overall, the service was top notch, the food was very good, and we had to be rolled out. The staff was so accomodating and friendly and sat us at a table to our liking immediately and constantly returned to make sure we were happy. The only thing wrong with the New England Clam Chowder soup is they don't offer free refills - I could not get enough. All sides, made to share, were delicious. We had the twice baked potatoe, sauteed spinach and mushrooms. Everyone's steaks were cooked to perfection and my lamb chops, cooked med rare, were outstanding. Pricey, but for a special occasion you can't go wrong at Gibsons. I went for mother's day and we ordered some pricey items including the tomahawk cut steak.(Overrated, I do not recommend unless you like medium-well to well-done finish)

The lunch menu was affordable, the portions were the right size and it was delicious. As a birthday surprise they treated the birthday person to a full size dessert (their choice). The dessert picked for us was the Macadamia Turtle Pie which was big enough for all 6 of us to share and it was wonderful! We felt the only drawback to our meal was not being able to substitute a small salad for the fries, and even when it was requested not to have the fries at all they came anyway.
