  • "very impressive-it was Wed. nite, absolutely packed, and even so our party of 4 had excellent service from a professional waiter and enjoyable meal. The filet was a treat-good texture, not mushy but somewhat firm but yet tender. And they use no butter, it's not necessary-the waiter said "this isn't Ruth Chris or Mortons". I enjoy a good shrimp cocktail and their's was good texture and flavor with a nice spicy cocktail sauce."

However, this was lunch. And it was delicious. I had the spicy lobster cobb, not too spicy. Lobster was fresh and our service was amazing. This place is first-class all around.   • "From the steaks brought to the table for review before our order, to the perfectly cooked steaks, to the delicious and plentiful sides, everything was perfect. We went there on a whim, hardly dressed for a top Chicago dinner experience, yet we were treated like royalty. Our server and the rest of the staff were amazing. This is not a cheap restaurant - but if you want and exceptional meal, prepared to your taste, then, you will appreciate it as we did and the experience will be worth every penny. This is the place for special occasions, or the place where 'just because it's Monday' becomes a special occasion."

Seriously, the deserts are the size of a baby (not to mention the tomahawk steaks). I think this is one of the last restaurants where you get what you pay for."

  • "My expectations were high given reviews and friends' suggestions, that Gibson's was the "place for steak and a great dining experience." Well, I'd never dined here previously and in looking around at others' first experience, ours was certainly lacking and void of anything special, other than our friendly waiter. I felt we did not receive the full dining experience. Our food was, "okay" cooked to order, but our sides were cold and not the quality I expected, given the rating of the restaurant. I will go back and give Gibson's another chance."

I love Gibson's - a fantastic atmosphere. 1st class food and service. A perfect venue for just about every occasion or no occasion at all! I have booked a table from my mothers 65 birthday which speaks volumes as to how much I love this venue."

I manage a butcher shop in my home town so I'm pretty familiar with cuts and quality of beef and I don't feel the beef at Gibson's was anything outstanding. It also was not cooked the way I asked for it and when you're paying a high price you should get what you requested."

Our kids come with, so it is important to us that they are comfortable in such a fine dining environment.   • "We went to Gibsons on the recommendation of our hotel concierge. From start to finish, food and service were exceptional. Friendly staff greeted us upon arrival and seated us at a great table location by the window. Three of us ordered the 10 oz filet and they were perfectly cooked and very tender. The other person in our party ordered a larger filet and it was also cooked as ordered. We had the house salads with blue cheese dressing...dressing was very tasty. We also had fresh vegetables which were steamed perfectly, not crunchy and not mushy. Had the pear based martini which was sweet but very flavorful. Service was very attentive, well timed and friendly. We will definitely go back next time we are in town."

  • "I'm from Oklahoma, so I appreciate and recognize a good steak. When the waiter said they "char" their Steaks they weren't kidding. The thick layer of char completely ruined any flavor. The steaks were cooked to a proper temp we asked for, however, it didn't really matter because the crispy layer of char was blended in each bite. The sides were good and so was the dessert. We saw an advertisement showing a picture of their steak and interestingly enough it didn't show an ounce of char."

  • "I have been going to Gibsons 30 years plus and have always thought it was one of the best. Times have changed. We went for lunch. Service was outstanding. Food was terrible. I had the pepper corn steak salad. It had no description on the menu, so I guess I sort of blame myself. It came with blue cheese which the menu did not mention. I do not like blue cheese. Service was wonderful. The salad was taken back, the cheese was removed and I was left with tenderloin medallions atop shredded lettuce for $18.00. A salad means more to me than cheese and a bed a lettuce. Gibson's food was always over the top. Big portions, quality ingredients and wonderful presentation. NOT ANYMORE! I never plan on returning."

  • "Gibson's is still my favorite Chicago steakhouse. Their Prime steaks are dry aged for 21 days and are always expertly prepared. A bit disappointed this time with the heavy-hadned sauteed spinach with garlic and olive oil. Other sides were good. Still the best shrimp cocktail in town. One of the things I love about Gibson's is the no-nonesense presentation by seasoned steak house servers. Our waiter was no exception, except he did seem to disappeaer towards the end of the meal."

  • "I eat at Gibsons ALOT and love it. Saturday night was not the best experience. Server worked very hard but made some dumb mistakes. Pouring RED wine into a glass white wine was tough and he didn't mean it. No double baked or single baked potatoes --- no Raisin bread. Running out of food at Gibsons on a Saturday night is wrong. They forced our table into a very small spot and we were on top of the table next to us. Again it was Saturday night and it was packed, Very loud, and were packed into a table I should have declined. Steaks for the first time ever didn't meet Gibson size or appeal. I will not be back for a while."
