  • "Absolutely delicious!!! We came early after a Sunday matinee at the Lesher Theater in Walnut Creek. There were three of us and we started with buratta with prosciutto to share - creamy and perfectly drizzled with a little olive oil. Then on to a Caesar and a spinach salad to share. After that we ordered three entres - monk fish, which was one of the chef's specials for the evening; risotto with squid ink; and shrimpanesca. Of course, bites of all were shared and one was more delicious than the other. The shrimpanesca has a lovely bite to it without being too spicy. We brought our own wine and, no muss no fuss, it was open and decanted in a flash. Our server was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Overall fantastic."

  • "We always keep Gianni's at the top of our "go to" list for date night. The food is excellent, the service is great. I needed a wine suggestion and our server nailed it. My wine was perfect! So I took another chance and let him select my dessert...again...perfection! The owners are wonderful and welcoming people. This is one of my favorite restaurants in the entire bay area. I tell everyone I know about this delicious surprise!"

  • "We have driven by Gianni's so many times and never thought to stop, well I'm happy to say that we have a new favorite. Melanie and Gianni are so accomodating, friendly, and great community supporters. My husband and friends attended a charity fundraiser held at Gianni's and the food was phenomenal. Vibrant, bold and subtle flavors throughout the different dishes. An exquisite wine selection and excellent service made this a wonderful night. We will be back and recommend Gianni's Italian Bistro to everyone!"

  • "I have dined at Gianni's three times over the past two weeks and it has been excellent every time. Gianni's is a small family owned restaurant that is owned by a original Italian and his lovely wife. It is very friendly and I highly recommend Gianni's for dinner or lunch."

  • "Our first visit to this local Italian gem was a great experience. We tried the squid ink risotto with shrimp, which was flavorful and delicious, but meager on shrimp. The ravioli was tasty, nestled in a light tomato sauce and dusted with a generous serving of Parmesan cheese. I left with a satisfied palette and a full stomach!"

  • "This is a wonderful fundraising idea. Leadership San Ramon Valley participants were the servers and donated their tips to Discovery Counseling Center. It was a lot of fun! There were plenty of servers, very attentive, food was good, wine was good. They have a very extensive Italian wine list. The only problem was that we selected the last seating slot and some food and beer selections ran out. To me it was a sign of a successful event! We will be back during regular hours."

  • "we loved the wine selections. the night we were there was a fund-raiser. the noise level was so very loud. I had to yell across the table in a party of two. Hopefully next time will be quiet!"

  • "Everything our party of six ordered was excellent. Food and wine were suberb and the service stellar. Gianni and his wife Melanie give everything the personal touch. You feel you are in the home of good friends. Not only do they serve outstanding food, Melanie and Gianni are extremely generous in giving back to the community, hosting incredible fund-raising dinners for local non-profits. I highly recommend this very special place. We will be going back often!"

  • "First time here f;or lunch and was excellent. Gianni's has done a great job of serving great pasta and dessert was terrific. I had gnocchi and my daughter had ravioli, both were excellent and I am picky about gnocchi because I do a pretty good job of making them myself. Try Gianni's for lunch you will not be disappointed."

  • "I found this restaurant quaint and cozy. I especially liked the additional room and window seating. The small table for two was perfect. There is also a separate room, while open, still has a private feel. Perfect for a large family or special occasion. I will definitely return."

  • "After a long drive in from Phoenix, Gianni's was the perfect place for dinner. We started with the Burrata appetizer which was excellent, really liked the creamy mozzarella and the freshness of the arugula together. I had the Shrimpanesca which was the perfect amount of spice with perfectly cooked shrimp and homemade pasta. Ralph had the House made Pappardelle with Pork Ragout. We enjoyed the experience so much we've made our reservation to eat at Gianni's on our way back to Phoenix next week."

  • "Starting at Incontro in San Ramon and then Danville and back to San Ramon at Gianni's we experienced them all and Gianni is truly a hit! We stopped going to Incontro in Danvile as the quality of food and service slipped but our experience at Gianni's over the weekend was outstanding. Pasta excellent, bread fresh and homemade, perfectly cooked vegetables and yummy dessert. You will not be disappointed."

  • "Food was terrific as usual but we are always amazed at how delicious the gnocchi are.....like pillows of heaven!!"

  • "We have been to Gianni's many times and it is always wonderful. It is family-owned and run and the attention to detail by the owner and his wife is incredible. They make their own bread, the olive oil for dipping is imported and excellent, the pasta is made in house and if you close your eyes, you would swear you were dining in Italy. We order the burratta, procchuitto and argula appetizer every time - you can't find this quality anywhere else. There is a daily sea food items and a special risotto or pasta each day. The gnocchi is outstanding! Everything is very fresh and very well prepared. Try the recommended italian wines. Go!"

  • "My wife's birthday so we thought we would try Gianni's. Years before we had eaten at the original restaurant owned by the same owner. We were promptly seated but it was next to a group of 3 diners one of whom was speaking in a very loud voice. My wife and I could not even have a simple conversation without having to raise our own voices. We were moved upon request. We started with the antipasta plate, it was excellent. I had the broccoli soup again excellent, my wife a beet salad. She preferred my soup. For entrees I had the gnocchi (wonderful little puffs of magic) my wife ravioli which she very much enjoyed. My wife was presented with a dessert which was fantastic. Service was outstanding! What can I say but, "We'll be back!""

  • "We used to love going to Incontro and were so disappointed when the moved to Danville. We are glad that 1/2 of the original Incontro group has returned to San Ramon. The good was outstanding! Two risotto, one short ribs, and one seafood pasta. Plates were clean! Perfect portion size. Wonderful service and good wine selection (all from Italy). Only negative was the noise...it was very noisy and lively. That's ok though...it was worth it."

  • "Food was good, excellent service was sincere. The owner was super. Only drawback was the high noise level, which caused a mixup on one order."

  • "4 of us went on a Tuesday night. Perfect because the noise level was at a minimum and also free corkage. Our dinners were fantastic! We shared the gnocchi which is always a favorite. One had the delicious beet salad. Also the veal and sole dishes were excellent. We will definitely return."

  • "So glad this restaurant came back to San Ramon. I used to go there years ago and was disappointed When they moved to Danville but I'm happy they came back here. Everything was as good as I remembered. Loved the spivey shrimp dish and the antipasto that I shared with my friends. I will definitely go back again soon."

  • "This is one of my goto restaurants for quality dining. Prices are moderate and the service is good. My 9 year old can eat off of the adult menu at this restaurant. There is a good selection and the specials are good. Tip: go early for the specials cause they run out early!"

  • "The service was good & the environment is nice. The appetizer & salad were both good. The price for the food items were reasonable. We wished that the Pre-fixed menu for dinner would contain another option to choose from. Overall, dinner is good for all occassions."

  • "One of the biggest challenges with this restaurant that I experienced first was the parking. It is fairly difficult to find a parking place. The next experience was with the very friendly staff. They all went out of their way to make the experience very enjoyable. The decor and atmosphere was perfect for my business meeting. I was a little concerned that they were out of ice tea, the most popular lunch drink as admitted by our waiter. It was also strange that the waiter announced the specials, my guest ordered a special, and then the waiter came back and said he was out of the special. We ordered at noon. Overall though I was pleased with the restaurant and I would go back."

  • "I was looking so forward to dining at Gianni's after I had participated in a fundraiser there as a server. Our reservation was for 5:30 and we were immediately seated. The waiter (he was Italian from Milan) was very personable and extremely knowledgable about the wine list. Our shared beet salad was served on 2 separate plates and was wonderful. I odered the Sea Bass, which unfortunately they were out. I ordered the duck instead and it was very good. Everyone enjoyed their dinner, but the best was the limoncello gelato! Yum! We will go back again and again!"

  • "met here for lunch on Friday. Old friends, so made it a looongg lunch. Server was very patient with us and came back several times before we were ready to order. Two had a salad with seafood, one had the gnocchi and the other the veal. All were pleased with their meals. Valet parking at lunch was a plus. Happy to be there and happy to have good food."

  • "Finding a restaurant that actively gets involved in supporting organizations that serve the community by partnering with them for fund raising in this way is creative and wonderful on multiple levels. Plus, the food and ambience are great too. A winning combination that should not be forgotten! The noise level was a little higher than typical because we were all there for a joyful reason - to support Reins In Motion Foundation - good food, good cause!"

  • "We eat early (5:30 - 7pm usually). We had Pappardellea (House Made Wide Fettuccine with Slow Cooked Pork Ragout). Delicious. Tuesday is no corkage fee. Our wine, their food and service were all outstanding. This is the second time for my wife and I. We will be back, likely many times."

  • "I was with 3 other people and I was really happy with the food and wine. The service was great and we saw the owners on the floor greeting and helping continuously."

  • "The food was good and the service started out good, but when it was time for coffee & dessert, our waitress was no where to be found. A gentleman saw me looking around and asked if I needed something. I told him we wanted to order dessert, so he took our order, but since he didn't write it down, a couple of the desserts were incorrect and we had to wait a little longer for the correct ones. We had a party of 6 and we were seated right next to the door, which was chilly, with customers coming in & out of the restaurant. Since the food was good, I will give this place another chance."

  • "Went for Valentine's Day, and it didn't look like much on the outside (probably why we never noticed it before) and was a bit pricey (though not outrageous, ~$100 for a couple)...but I do appreciate getting first-rate service, atmosphere and dinner for the money and the occasion. Very quaint, family-run, outstanding food quality - crab caesar, salmon pasta and lamb were fabulous. Can't afford to come frequently, but it's the best dining experience we've had in the area...will definitely make it back. Have already recommended."
