  • "Attentive staff. Great wine list. Parking is a minor problem."

  • "Excellent as always, our entire group had a great night"

  • "good Caeser Salad (needed more anchovies) Shrimp dish was excellent. Spicy with pasta, but lacking in enough shrimps?"

  • "Food is absolutely delicious; service friendly and professional; wine list vast and lots of Italian--YUM!!!"

  • "Drive by this place every day and decided to give a try. Great Italian menu selection. Service was outstanding. Between four of us had the Agnolotti, Risotto, Vitello, Gnocchi and Polenta. The first three were delicious. The creamy polenta was a little to grainy for me. The gnocchi's were too mushy and mushroom sauce lacked taste. Will definitely go back to try some of the other dishes."

  • "Wow. Thus place is in sort of industrial area. A little apprehensive. This guy knows his sauces! Very important for Italian dining. The halibut was cooked to perfection....and everything else. Whole family pleasantly surprised. Table was a little tight. Will request next time. Beautifully done!"

  • "My fiance and I actually came here on a night they were doing a fundraiser for the rescue we got our dog through. Volunteers were the waiters and waitresses and they had a menu for the event. I love that they partnered with the rescue first of all; it provides a great sense of community! Second, I ordered the gnocchi and it was sooo delicious. One of the best I have had (and I am very picky about my gnocchi!) I would definitely go back. Only complaint I have is that it gets a little loud in the side room since it's not a very big area but that will not deter me :)"

  • "We came with friends, not knowing that Gianni's is owned by the guys who started Incontro, before Stefano messed everything up. We are glad that Gianni's (which is really Incontro's original menu) is back. Great service my our server, Juan."

  • "Lived in the area for 5 years and didn't know this place existed until I saw it on Open Table. 5 stars across the board! Charming yet upscale, at reasonable prices but no compromise in quality of food and the service experience. We can't wait to go back!"

  • "Local Gem that is packed to the walls for dinner, but hidden spot for lunch. Great place to entertain clients."

  • "I've read the stellar reviews about Gianni's and this was my first time dining here. I had the duck breast and it was excellent. The food server gave great service also. I had a wonderful dining experience and I will be back to Gianni's again in the near future."

  • "Authentic and top quality Italian food. Wonderful ambience and make sure you talk to the owner Gianni and his wife who are excellent hosts. Love this find."
    Dined on 7/24/2014
  • "Food appeared and tasted prepared from scratch. Healthy and not over seasoned. Very tasty. Tables partitioned into small groups for intimacy and privacy. Formal dining but not stuffy. Perfect."

  • "We have never been disappointed dinning at Gianni's. The food is always outstanding. The service is friendly and professional. Gianni and Melanie are the perfect hosts. A gem in the East Bay!"

  • "Excellent food, great service, very friendly professional staff. The duck and the short rib is outstanding!"

  • "Me - 40 years of dining out regularly. Starters: Beet salad, unremarkable. Zuchini soup - a bad idea to begin with - no flavor. Three dinners. My pasta w/Sausage in tomato sauce - only discernable flavor was hot spicing; pasta undercooked. Son's Raviolis long on pasta short on filling. Also undercooked. Wife's mixed seafood dish (mussels, shrimp, etc.) very good. Wife's spinach side dish and my green beans side dish were unremarkable and both overcooked. Deserts were good but nothing great. Wine was very nice but at $52 a bottle should have been. Service good, not great. $195 total, $140 without wine. Many better Italian restaurants in East Bay so I just don't get the high ratings this place receives."

  • "I've never had a bad meal here. The duck was amazing and my friends's pasta was fantastic. I also enjoyed the beet salad although the dressing, made with honey, was a little sweet for me. I sprinkled some balsamic on it and it was perfect!"
    Dined on 7/18/2014
  • "The braised short ribs on polenta is delicious! The restaurant is just a bit noisy. Lovely decor, though, and very popular. Great service!"

  • "When we arrived we were seated in a back corner where the noise level was unbearable. I had requested a window seat and when I mentioned that to the person seating us, he was able to find a party leaving and we were reseated shortly afterwards. Once we were in the quieter area, we had a lovely dinner. The veal was as well prepared and tender as always, the arugula salad with roasted corn very tasty."

  • "We've been going to Gianni's since they opened and the food is always excellent and consistent. We are so happy that Gianni came back and opened - and we personally think it is much better than Incontro (ether the old one or the new one). The food is well prepared and the wine list has a lot of nice Italian wines by the glass - while the list is small, it pretty much gives you an excellent choice of the variety of Italian wines."

  • "We checked out this place based on their stellar Yelp reviews and we had a very nice time. The highlight of the evening was the quality and speed of the service. We shared the Burrata which had a great, creamy mozzarella and I had the fennel salad which was very unique and tasty. My main was the boneless short ribs with polenta which had a fantastic sauce. I must admit the short ribs were a bit dry but the flavor was excellent. For desert I had the Affogato which I must was honestly the best thing I had all night. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her fettuccine."

  • "This is the 10th time I have been here. I come here for business dinners, and it is also a favorite with my wife. Never had a bad meal. Good wine list. Excellent service, particularly from Lena."

  • "I dined once again at Gianni's Italian Bistro last week. I had the special fish which was outstanding. Petrale sole with a grapefruit reduction sauce and served with sautéed fresh green beans. It was absolutely delicious and the fish cooked to perfection. If they are serving sole, order it. Last time I missed out because so many ordered it that it sold out."

  • "This was my first time dining at Gianni's and I was very impressed. I have grown up here all my life and driven past as multiple restaurants have gone in and out of this location and never given much thought to them. I was mistaken to not have tried Gianni's earlier. The food is spectacular, it is reasonably priced, and the owner was so nice when we get to meet her and chat for a while. I will definitely be dining here again in the future."

  • "Our recorded message requesting a window table for our special occasion (Birthday) was confirmed with a phone call back from the owner, which we really appreciated. The server was very friendly, conversational and helpful, especially regarding menu recommendations. I'll add that her Italian accent added the perfect touch of authenticity. The food arrived promptly and wonderfully prepared. All four of us thoroughly enjoyed our night at Gianni's."

  • "Needed to find a decent restaurant in San Ramon. There is not much of a choice, but I was intrigued by the food reviews for Gianni's. As I was taking a very discerning European visitor, food quality was very important. We were not disappointed. We were there on a Sunday evening and the place was quiet, (which was good) and the food and the service was excellent. I have recommended my wife to try this place for lunch. Hopefully she will be as impressed as I was."

  • "From the outside you wouldn't think much of it. But, as soon as you get in, it's a totally different story. From the decor, to the Italian music being played and the pictures on the wall you honestly feel you are in Italy. It was wonderful. Really places you in the element."

  • "I have been to Giannis for dinner twice and it was excellent. The service, food, wine was amazing. This last time went for lunch. Again, was very good my only complaint is the noise level in the solarium room and also my chicken was dry, otherwise everything was wonderful. My friend had never been there and she loved her meal and wants to go back and try dinner next time. I recommend the Braised beef shortribs, they are to die for and their polenta and vegetables are fabulous. I am overall very pleased with Giannis and the owners are so nice they make you feel welcomed and try to accomodate your every whim. Try their salads also, they are very fresh and delicious. Same goes for dessert wonderful."

  • "I was introduced to Gianni's at a Danville Chamber of Commerce event. My wife and son took me for a belated Fathers Day. Every aspect of the experience was excellent from being greeted, to the food, had and excellent bottle of red wine, and the server was outstanding. Definitely have a return visit planned and if you are looking for an authentic Italian experience and food be sure to check this place out."

  • "We were so pleased with our dinner and service. The restaurant has a very comfortable feel.. Nice soft colors and decorations. The menu choices were very interesting. Had all four courses. Each was outstanding. We will definitely return soon. Try it and you will be very pleased."

  • "This has become one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants that always serves the best traditional Italian fare around. The wine list includes numerous Italian wines as well as other European ones by the glass or bottle, all of which pair as well or better with the food as any California wines. In the future however, we will avoid the hallway like sun room area in the front of the restaurant. We couldn't hold a normal conversation. On our previous visit, we passed on dessert because of exceptionally loud people. This last time one of the servers joined in with the group of four next to us playing some sort of smart phone game. Gianni's is way to good a restaurant for this, thus we will come back, but ask to sit in the main restaurant."

  • "The food at Gianni's is superb. Prepare yourself for wonderful food, created by real Italians. This is a neighborhood gem. You should not miss it."
