Diner Reviews
  • "Food was great, as always, but service was slow and indifferent. Had to ask for another glass of wine! After placing our order, we never saw our waiter again until he brought the check. Traditionally, we have dinner at Geronimo on our last night in Santa Fe, but now we may make different arrangements."

  • "Cucumber melon soup toooo spicy and I do like spicy. The key lime pie tasted like a normal cheese cake. Both were disappointing. Prices were over the top. We had dined at 3 different restaurants in Santa Fe and all had better food and much lower prices."

  • "This was our second visit to Geronimo and again the experience was outstanding. The service was attentive, but not cloying and the food was magnificent. The elk tenderloin and white prawn dishes were superb."

  • "We had an excellent meal in all respects. Both salads, one pear and one wasabi Caesar, were great. The elk tenderloin was great as always. My wife's steak was a bit overdone for the medium she requested, probably should have asked for medium rare. Service was a little slow starting but picked up and was overall very good. We shared the lemon curd crepe desert, served with limoncello, and it is not to be missed. Still thinking about it. Geronimo remains one of Santa Fe's best restaurants. The ambience is restful and quiet with nice background music. All in all a great dining experience. Nice setting on upper Canyon Road. The valet parking is helpful as parking can be in short supply at times."

  • "Our experience was excellent from the valet who was helpful as we drove up, to the attentive staff, the service and our dinner. The food was delicious and beautifully presented without gong over board in some quirky trendy way. We had just enough attention, while allowing us our time for conversation. We'll be back!"

  • "My wife and I had a terrific meal on a recent vacation with our 3 children and her sister and daughter. EVERYONE agreed it was one of the best meals we have had. Service was excellent from anyone we interacted with - from the valet, the hostess, and our waiter. We will definitely go back on our next trip!"

  • "Overall an excellent experience but in Santa Fe I expect more. The Rose should be a "safe" choice for food with a little heat. It was a lack luster with none of the sparkle, sweetness or the vanilla that I expected. Their Reisling serves that purpose since it is a sweet Reisling. The menu is similar to Coyote Cafe, which leads me to believe that there has been some travel between kitchens. A little more sensitivity to local ingredients and less to rival restaurants would be smart. I realize it is the fashion to layer flavors on the plate so that each is distinct from the other. However, if your kitchen zeitgeist is French you should work on blending those separate flavors into something new and unexpected."

  • "We came to celebrate our anniversary, and started with a complimentary glass of champagne. What a great start. The wine list offers great selections, and the tuna tartar competed with the best of all tuna tartars I have ever tasted. When I consider that I love tuna tartar, this was a great feat. The only downside was the service which could use much improvement."

  • "Geronimo has been one of Santa Fe's top restaurants for many years and deservedly so. My wife and I had appetizers, main courses, and dessert and every single dish was truly memorable. It is not an inexpensive restaurant, but worth every penny!"

  • "This was our first time to the restaurant. What a great place. Our food was superb along with a wonderful wait staff. Would we go back---YES."

  • "after eating at the sister restaurant, Coyote Cafe, my friends and I were psyched to go to Geronimo. As we walked in we noticed that the restaurant was as lovely as CC, and, while the gnocchi appetizer and shrimp and rice cakes were excellent, the kale and caesar salads were only ok. The Halibut was overcooked, and the salmon and ravioli a bit bland. The desserts were mixed-the banana cream pie was excellent and the key lime tort tasteless. Overall, we were not impressed, especially when the bill was $100 higher than Coyote Cafe."

  • "Food was especially good, the elk dish was outstanding, the vegetarian pairings were good, with the mushroom bisque being the most memorable. The thing I will remember most is that the service was unhurried and superb. It allowed us to slowly savor our meal and wine while we enjoyed visiting with our friends. We asked for and were seated at a quiet table in the atrium room. It was a good choice. Will recommend to friends and return on our next visit to Sante Fe. Our server who was from Northern Europe was excellent. We really got to know her assistant well though and he had an excellent sense of humor. We enjoyed him a lot."

  • "Although the food is great and it is in a great location we were surprised at how close you sit to others in the restaurant. We were so close we could hardly carry on our own conversation due to tables next to us engaging in loud personal conversations of which we could hear every word. It was quite distracting especially when the table next to us proceeded to make out in public. (kissing and fondling) As I said the food was excellent but the service was a little slow."

  • "Wonderful evening. We ate on the front patio and enjoyed every moment and morsel. Outstanding wait staff."

  • "Everything about our evening was perfect. We dined on the patio, the evening air was comfortable and watching the colors change as it grew darker was a treat. But the real treat was our meal. Presentation gets a 10 and the flavors get 10+++ We will return. Loved the crab cake starter and lamb dinner prepared perfectly with exciting flavors in every bite. Orange cycle cake made a perfect finish. Service was equal to the food."

  • "Great food, great service, excellent evening. Staff were incredibly attentive. One thing we noticed is that despite moving crowds in and out all evening, we barely heard the clatter of plates and cutlery."

  • "Our choice to dine at Geronimo was rewarded with excellent food -I loved my 4-course prix fixe vegetarian meal- and superb service. We very much enjoyed our talk and service of our Dutch hostess. Everyone was gracious and attentive and my husband and son agreed with me that we should return in the next visit to Santa Fe."

  • "The food is really good. The outside patio is very nice to sit in during the warm months. Everytime I dine at Geronimo's I like to try something new."

  • "One of our favorite restaurants in Santa Fe. The elk tenderloin is consistently outstanding, and the service is over the top. I had the soft softshell crab appetizer as an entre and while good, it was not great. Wine list is superb with nice selections for every budget. Desserts are incredible."

  • "IN addition to the food being absolutely amazing, I have never experienced such outstanding service. We have both experienced many luxury restaurants, hotels, and resorts and the service here is even better than what we have experienced at the Ritz. It is clear that all the staff are extremely well trained and there is extremely high standards of performance in this area. When my boyfriend asked about the men's room, a staff not only escorted him, but announced, 'GUEST COMING THROUGH" and all the staff parted to allow him to pass through, since you had to pass the kitchen entrance. Total top class experience."

  • "I couldn't say how much I enjoyed my evening at Geronimo. The wonderful service started at the valet and ended as we drove away. The food and the service could not have been more wonderful. The staff were very kind, social, and informed as to the entirety of their menu. Would highly recommend to everyone!"

  • "Geronimo never disappoints. Always at the top of our list when visiting Santa Fe. Dinner on the porch is always a great experience."
    Dined on 7/6/2014
  • "We enjoyed dinner outside on the intimate covered "porch" at Geronimo on a beautiful July evening. The porch has two rows of tables-for-two lined up along the face of the building and against the railing around the front of the porch, flanking both sides of the entry to this historic old structure in the gallery district on Canyon Road. Clear plastic "roll-ups" can be deployed in case of rare windy weather or other inclement conditions, but were not needed on our visit. You are seated very close to the narrow street as people come and go, but it adds to the ambiance. The food was outstanding. Crab cakes were small but savory. Elk tenderloin was expertly prepared. Banana cream pie was a real treat. Wait service is expert. Special!"

  • "My wife and I were trying to find a nice place to have dinner over our first trip to Santa Fe, and I believe we found the best place in town. Casual atmosphere with great food and excellent service. I would definitely recommend to anyone spending some time in the area."

  • "My husband and I recently ate at Geronimo's and were disappointed in the quality of service we received along with the food. Our waiter only checked on us when we had to ask another server to get his attention. The food was average at best and seemed extremely overpriced for what we received. My husband was greatly disappointed, as this was his second time there, and he was looking forward to the elk tenderloin very much. Due to the poor service and average food we will not be going back to Geronimo's. We would rather spend that much money at a place that is friendly to all its guests and provides quality food on a consistent basis."

  • "First a Cautionary note to OpenTable members: Geronimo puts all OpenTable reservations OUTSIDE (regardless of weather). You must call to get an inside table. Geronimo has always been a favorite for my wife and I. However this time they managed to change great food into "why did they do that" food. Sometimes adding "special" touches and ingredients merely for the sake of not having "normal" food goes to far and the result is strange tasting great food."

  • "This is an outstanding restaurant. The food is incredible, the presentation is always an additional treat and the service is unsurpassed. Music plays softly in the background, but it is very unobtrusive. The tables are far enough apart that you don't feel like you've been shoved into the middle of someone else's dinner/date. It's not cheap, but I always leave feeling that I got what I paid for. The wine list is pricey, but they do offer options in the $40/bottle range. From there you can basically spend as much as you are willing to pay for a bottle of wine. Its not in my budget to eat here frequently, but it is my first choice for special occasions and visitors."

  • "We went to Geronimo for our fourth wedding anniversary after carefully selecting it based upon reviews in Open Table and other's. Our table was ready for our six o'clock reservation. We were greeted by our server with complimentary flutes of a New Mexico sparkling wine in honor of our anniversary. My wife ordered lamb with a soft shell crab appetizer from the dining room menu and I ordered Kobe beef sliders with a side of pomme frites off the lounge menu. All the food was cooked to perfection. We had a decadent chocolate duet for desert which we just couldn't finish. Geronimo is a member of a vibrant Santa Fe food scene and reminds one that Santa Fe is just not green chili and enchiladas. We will return."

  • "Two items that I loved were the Wasabi Caesar Salad and the Lamb Chops. I absolutely hate salads that have too much dressing. This one was perfect - just the right amount of horseradish and wasabi in the dressing and just the right amount of dressing on the salad. There were also real anchovies, and abundant fresh, crisp romaine spears. The warm rice "dice" were a wonderful addition instead of the stale croutons one usually sees. (Ask your wait-person to tell you about them.) The three perfectly-cooked (medium rare) lamb chops were crispy on the outside and lusciously pink on the inside. The service was friendly and attentive without being pretentious or intrusive. While pricey, the food was wonderful, so the cost was worth it!"

  • "My wife and I had the Elk Tenderloin and Prawns. The Prawns were prepared with a red chile sauce that was excellent. The Elk Tenderloin was exceptional, as always. I noticed the food was prepared and stayed warmer. Desserts were off the charts. The lemon crepe was the best dessert we've had, anywhere, any time."
