Diner Reviews
  • "Nice view of the city skyline, good wine list, the fried green tomatoes and trout entree were excellent. Our server was very helpful."

  • "My husband and I are new to Nashville, and we had heard good things about the Germantown Cafe. Everyone was very kind and helpful, even when my husband and I arrived way early for our reservation. The food was seasoned very well, and everything we tried was really great - from the goat cheese tart to the carrot and apple soup to the duck breast with plum sauce to the winter vegetables. There were a few groups, and they always seem to bogart the servers' time, but it was very nice just the same. It was funny - a lot of the groups had children, who all seemed to choose the pasta of the day, which was huge. This really is a restaurant for adult palates at dinner time, which is fine by me. :) Can't wait to try brunch some Sunday."

  • "Germantown Cafe is a wonderful place to bring a date or even to have dinner with friends. Knowledgeable waiters, delicious food, excellency drink from the bar! We really enjoyed it."

  • "We loved our dinner date night here. My wife got the salmon and it was outstanding. I got the penne pasta with shrimp. It was good but not quite as good as the salmon"

  • "We've been here many times, and with each subsequent visit, we walk away bigger fans. Germantown Cafe is the perfect mix of warmth and sophistication with urban presence. The service and food are consistently outstanding. The servers are friendly, attentive yet non-intrusive. Creative food; different and delicious. The ambiance: enchanting and sexy. Fresh creative twists on old favorite cocktails at the bar, along with many new originals. Wine list covers a wide range of tastes. This is a "must visit" in Nashville."

  • "Food and service are excellent. Drinks are strong. It can get a little loud in there, but that's the nature of a vibrant hotspot. Try the fried green tomatoes, pork belly tots, hanger steak and salmon. And a huge plus: they give you essentially donuts as bread. I went through two baskets myself."

  • "Birthday dinner with just my wife and my self was a very positive experience. We enjoyed everything about night!"

  • "We decided to give Germantown Cafe a try after reading the wonderful reviews online. Convenient valet parking. Our reservations ensured that our table was ready for us. It has a nice view of downtown and is a quaint little area. The food was good and the service was good. It was upscale dining without being pretentious. I really enjoyed our dinner. It is pricey, so come prepared. Dinner for 3 was $120 with tip (2 glasses of wine and 3 dinner entrees)."

  • "This was the first time I had eaten there, and it was impressive. Very friendly wait staff, knowledgeable about the menu items. Everything was extremely tasty, and not just covered in butter. Expect to spend about $40 per person for drinks, apps, dinner. So, it's a little pricey, but an excellent place to be!"

  • "We enjoyed a wonderful dinner here. Squash fritters for appetizer were outstanding. All loved our main courses- filet, pork medallions and duck. Large portions were delicious but left no room for dessert."

  • "If you are visiting Nashville add this place to your list if you want a fine dining experience at reasonable prices. The location is superb, quiet neighborhood away from downtown yet can be reached in minutes. Ample free parking on local streets but there is valet as well. From the moment you step through the door you feel welcomed. The staff is friendly and courteous. Seating provides a beautiful view of downtown. The wine list is outstanding. Now, if all that isn't enough, there is the food. We had 4 different entrees and all were perfection. This was by far our best dining experience in Nashville and we will definitely be stopping here on our next visit."

  • "This is the second time that I have taken out of town visitors to Germantown Cafe. It is a perfect representation of Nashville. It looks across at the State Capital. The noise level is low making it a good place to have conversations. The food is always great and the prices are reasonable."

  • "Love this place. The great rolls they serve before dinner, the apps (esp the squash fritters) and fish and steak entrees are always so good. Never had a bad meal here."

  • "We were in Nashville for a conference and found this restaurant on a search of Open Table. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The food was the best part, novel dishes but still had a caring feel on presentation. Good portions and reasonable price for the quality served."

  • "The buttery walnut applie cobbler is one of the best desserts in Nashville!"

  • "We have been going there occasionally over the years and are always pleased with the food and service. They have a limited menu which is a good thing and never fail to execute well. My only negative is with their wine list which is could stand a little improvement as far as their selections and is a bit pricy considering their offerings. They do offer bulk wine by the carafe though."

  • "Exceptional food. In fact, one of the best meals I've had in Nashville. The service was only ok (both bartender and wait staff), but we couldn't get over how good the food was and the view of the capital at night was amazing. Definitely recommend and will be back."

  • "Great escargot appetizer. Pan seared trout was decent--could have had better flavor. Really good service. Zero ambiance."

  • "I have been a regular since this restaurant opened. Never disappointed!"

  • "I've visited for brunch and dinner, both outstanding. Love the valet parking in parking-strapped area of Nashville. If you snag a table by the windows, you'll have a view of downtown. Of course, the salmon with curry sauce is always a favorite, the featured but check out the catch of the day, it's always delicious and creative. I always balk at ordering good wine by the glass, as I don't know when it was opened, so when I spied a bottle of Conundrum with a very reasonable markup it made the dinner with a friend even more enjoyable. As for dessert, the homemade apple pie with ice cream is ridiculously outrageously delicious. I'll be back soon, with a friend."

  • "Germantown Cafe was the perfect place for a wonderfyl meal before going to TPAC. We told our server we were on a time crunch and we were served quickly and the check came quickly. We actually had time to spare. Great place we can always count on."

  • "Definite must for early evening introduction to Nashville for out of town friends. Staff is superb. Ambience absolutely special. NEGATIVES from most recent visit: food was a disappointment...clumsily prepared...I left 3/4 of the meal on my plate as did one of my guests; horrendously noisy...large party (physically and noise wise ) dominated the dining area...making the evening much less pleasant for other tables. PLEASE NOTE: hopefully the evening in question was an outlier...I have had excellent food at the Germantown Cafe in the past...also, the "din" requiring my guests and I to practically shout to be heard over also was singular for the Cafe."

  • "Vibrant spot with consistently good food. Attentive, welcoming staff who genuinely know about the food and are helpful when trying to make a choice. Can be a bit noisy - lots of hard surfaces - but a fun place to go with friends."

  • "Germantown cafe really is a neighborhood gem. Their food is consistently good and the staff is great. The Plum Pork has been on their menu for years and it is always great!"

  • "When I booked I wasn't exactly sure what I was getting and even thought of cancelling the day before going. i was very pleased with the service, ambience and the server, Tiffany. The staff was attentive and very accommodating. My wife and I shared a salad and entree, both of which were divided in the kitchen and placed on separate plates in the same plating as you would expect from aa single serving. Great job."

  • "After a eventful day of preparation and finaly propsing to my now fiancé, I decided that the remainder of our night should involve a intimate romantic restaurant. Although I had heard if Germantown Café prior to the big day I must admit I decided to google the area for more options...but finally decided to give them a try regardless of the plethora of options the internet provided. Could not have made a better decision! Not only was the atmosphere perfect, but the food was incredible and the service provided by our server Harold was outstanding. Could not have imagined a better way to end the night!"

  • "Classy but unassuming. The food was excellent and creative, but not pretentiously ambitious. The servers were personable and attentive, and the atmosphere was intimate but fairly lively."

  • "My wife and I dined there for Valentine's day and the food was phenomenal. We ordered the crab cakes and escargot appetizers for our starters- these were heavenly. Our entrees were a comforting, mouthwatering experience as well. I would definitely recommend this place for a romantic dinner, rewarding lunch or an elegant group dining experience. If you have not yet dined at the Germantown Café- you need to."
