Diner Reviews
  • "We've been going to Germantown Cafe for years, and it never disappoints. I tried a new dish this time, the roasted half-chicken. I thought there probably wasn't much you could do with a half-chicken, but I was wrong. It was so flavorful, juicy, and smelled amazing. The mashed potatoes with it were great too. And, our server was perfect at stopping by when needed but not hovering. We also sat at a booth that faces downtown, and the view became better as the sun went down. Like I said, Germantown is always great, and you get all this for prices that are not as crazy outrageous as a lot of other newer places. Our group of 6 ate for just over $200. My wife and I usually spend $100-125 for just the two of us at places that are just as good."

  • "We had a very pleasant evening. Request a window table for a nice view. The food selections were enjoyed by all and ample servings."

  • "I loved our dinner here. Food is very solid - nothing haute, but well cooked and put together. I especially liked the yeast rolls. Wine selection is smaller but good. Our server was lovely and knowledgeable. The restaurant has a nice view of downtown Nashville."

  • "Went to Nashville for a night out with the wife. Cafe is away from the noise of downtown, but close enough to walk back to the night life. Great food, good atmosphere, reasonable prices for a special night out."

  • "We went to Germantown Cafe for our 10th anniversary on the advice of several friends, and were very pleased. The food was delicious and slightly different, but "normal" enough for my meat and potatoes husband. :) We tried the Pork Belly Tater Tots after reading such amazing reviews on them, but I'm not sure if the oil was too hot or they were fried too long- they just didn't taste good. However my husband's Pork with Plum sauce and my steak (special of the day) were quite good as were the pies we had for dessert- Apple and Key Lime. The price was much more than we would pay for a casual dinner, but since it was a big occasion I didn't mind the cost. With the menu online you know what to expect!"

  • "This is a one of my favorite places dine. It's what I would consider an "upscale casual" restaurant w/ excellent food. It also has a nice view of Nashville."

  • "The Germantown Cafe continues to be a neighborhood gem. With a clean and classy look, diverse menu and nightly specials, warm wait staff and parking, it is a great find. Anchored in the up and coming Germantown section of Nashville, diners to this locale will not find beer and pretzels, but so much more!"

  • "Hd a nice time at the cafe. Arrived and happy to see the complementary valet service. Our group of six arrived early so we sat at the bar to get a premeal drink. Napkins placed on table but no one came back to take order. Server greeted us at table. Was polite, but seemed unengaged the entire meal. Had to ask for water refills and never poured anyone a second glass of wine from the bottles we ordered, we took care of ourselves. Everyone enjoyed the food. Onion soup fantastic flavors with very ample portion of melted cheese on crock. Crab cakes were enjoyed. Hit of meal was the curry salmon. It was delicious, perfected cooked. Rib eye steak ordered medium rare came very rare. All in all a good but not great dining experience."

  • "Ive had brunch here, lunch here and now dinner. All were wonderful. Friends tried the steak special - yum reviews on that - I had the chicken. Enough food for 2 meals. Succulent, well seasoned. Great service as always."

  • "Upon arriving the valet allowed for no fuss parking. As soon as we entered the manager greeted us by name and directed our party of 4 to our table. I had requested a table in a quite area when making the reservation through Open Table. The waiter was pleasant, but we quickly realized he was a novice. Two in our party ordered the fresh seafood catch of the day and were very pleased. The plum pork and steak were also very good. Deserts were offered but there were no takers. Toward the end of our meal, the manager stopped by and asked if we were pleased with the location of our seating. I was pleased to know my request had been noted. Other than the “novice” waiter, the Germantown Café was a good experience. We will defiantly return."

  • "We had a reservation for 8:30. We arrived at 8:25 and were seated by almost 9:00. The food is great. The service was ok. The lighting was really dark. The place was packed, people crowding the bar and waiting outside. On the upper floor you are seated right next to each other so it's very loud. I've been here two other time and sat on the lower floor and it wasn't quite as bad. Over all I enjoyed the restaurant. The food was good and not too pricey, that to me is important. Although it would have been nice to hear my date and not wait almost 30 mins past a reservation."

  • "We took our 9 year old granddaughter and her 11 year old friend to Germantown Café, based on their request to return there. Both of them loved the escargot and the chicken entrée. The special fish for the evening was corvine, which was excellently prepared, as was the duck breast entree. As usual the food was delicious and the service was excellent. This is a great neighborhood restaurant for all ages."

  • "Germantown Cafe lived up to our expectations and was close to our downtown hotel, yet far enough away to look down at the beautiful skyline. Great vibe and small urban neighborhood feel. Food and wine choices were not extensive, but intelligent and comprehensive. The coconut curry salmon had to be one of the best dishes I've had in a long time."

  • "The food and service was outstanding. Our server Becky was excellent. The owner/manager stopped by our table to thank us for celebrating a special occasion at the restaurant and surprised us with a sparkling wine (complementary). We are from out of town and this was our four visit to the Cafe in an 18 month period."

  • "On our visit to Nashville with friends we selected the Germantown Cafe for our first dining experience. The result was a five star culinary experience! Our waiter, Giffin set a welcoming tone and guided us through the menu thoughtfully responding to inquiries. With six of us dining we had the opportunity to experience a wide variety of featured items and every choice yielded a five star reward. We returned to the restaurant for the weekend brunch and once again we hit a home run! Our waitress guided us through the brunch selections with ease, and our choices were outstanding. This welcoming restaurant with it's view of the skyline is one not to be missed!"

  • "The squash fritters and the coconut salmon with risotto were amazing....just not sure why they served cold peas and cauliflower with it! We also ordered a pork roulade---which had great flavor, but was overcooked for everyone at the table."

  • "The food is always top shelf. Cooked, spiced, and salted properly. My only suggestion is to cook the green beans a little longer. I always have to remind myself to ask the waiter to substitute their asparagus for the green beans. I'm a southerner at heart, and do not appreciate raw green beans. Otherwise treat yourself to a phenomenal experience."

  • "Visited Germantown Cafe on Saturday night. The team did an amazing job taking great care of us. Our host gave us the perfect table, and our server gave perfect service -- always there when we needed something but never imposing on our conversations. She gave thoughtful and delicious recommendations, though based on everything we tried I don't think you can go wrong! Great experience. Will definitely return and recommend. "

It proved to be a great experience. The service was Great and all timed very well. Our waiter was very knowledgable and helpful. As you can tell.....we were very pleased!! Jim Sawyers"

  • "In town for a quick trip. Had 2 teenagers with us unexpectedly so the original dinner plan didn't work. Hostess at original restaurant rec'd Germantown Cafe. At first I was hesitant because the menu is a bit more upscale than my kids are used to but they both LOVED it. All 4 of us agreed that it was the best meal we remember having in a restaurant anywhere. That's saying a lot as I travel weekly! The appetizers were fantastic as well as the entrees. I could have made my meal from the apps! Fantastic service as well. Our server was helpful and wonderful. My 13 year old actually said that he wants to go back to Germantown Cafe next time we go to Nashville. "

  • "The high reviews of Germantown Cafe are well-deserved. We had a lovely meal for 4, everyone declared their dishes to be delicious. Crab cakes were magnificent -- very crabby, light, not dense and bready. The eggplant stack wasn't really a stack, but tasty. The only negative, and this was only about taste, was the apple pie was not really pie -- almost all butter and sugar, a few apples. Great if you like that, but cloying if you are expecting mom's pie (and my mom's pie is outstanding). Call it something else: Apple butter-melt? Apple crumble with butter? Death by apple sweetness? Otherwise, wonderful."
