Great food and service. We went on Mothers Day so it was a little hectic and service was just a tad too fast. We had not finished our salad when our main course was brought out. Hash browns were deep fried cubes, which were out of place with the rest of the items. Food was delicious and service was over the top. I never saw the bottom of my coffee cup or water glass.

Our most recent visit was a poor experience. The restaurant must be trying to become a fast food restaurant. The service staff never gave us the time to breath. We were in out in 38 minutes. Never really gave us a chance to order wine. We took our next to last bite of salad and they brought main courses. One girl stood there while one of finished our salad and grabbed the plate. Main course was very good. But the staff was extremely annoying. We finished the last bite of dinner. Someone came over and said. I guess you don't want any dessert. We then decided to go elsewhere for coffee and dessert. Prior visit was terrific.

Service was great! I wasn't blown away by the food, but it was a good meal. It was a bit pricey for the quality of the food. A friend of mine did not like her food at all because it just didn't agree with her taste buds and was not about to try to force it down, so they took it back with no questions asked and replaced it with her old staple, the Plum Pork. The were extremely nice about it and her Pork entree was out within minutes. I would probably visit again for a special occasion or just a girls night out, but not a place I would frequent.

This was our first visit to the Germantown Cafe East. This was on a weekday and the restrauant was not busy. We liked the layout and the location. The weather was cool so we did not use their outdoor seating. This is one of the nice features and one we want to use next time. The food was good, as was the service. I want to try the restaurant again before giving final opinion in the food and service.

Only our second visit to East Germantown Cafe. We eat at Germantown Cafe all the time and have come to expect a certain level of quality and service. This visit fell a bit below normal. Special was a fish and needed a starch (potato or rice). Meal was light but served with a lot of spinach. Our server was not very knowledgeable about the bar and wasn't very attentive until we stressed that we had another engagement after dinner.

The food and service at Germantown Cafe East were both excellent. We were there for brunch on Easter Sunday...I had French toast made with homemade blueberry bread, and my husband had the quiche of the day, which I believe had crabmeat, spinach and mozzarella in it. It was very tasty! The room is open and airy, but it can also feel very intimate, I think. We will try dinner there, and will definitely be going back for brunch!

Great food, terrific service and best view of city lights from the outdoor patio. They have some wonderful southern desserts... try the chess pie. We ate outside and it was wonderful. The traffic that evening was a bit noisy, but did not interfere with our meal or our enjoyment. Ours was a dinner meal, but we also love those amazimg grits they serve during Sunday brunch at Germantowm East!

I visited GCE with my husband for dinner last Friday. Parking was easy - free underground garage parking. The dining room is elegant and the tables have a skyline view. The server was professional while sharing the specials and reviewing the menu with us. Food was excellent. For appetizers we had Lamb Satay and Baked Brie. The lamb was perfectly cooked and the pastry for brie was very light and tasty. For main course I had Garlic Poached Sea Scallops and my husband had Oven Roasted Ashley Farms Chicken. Both dishes were delicious and cooked to perfection. The wine selection was very good too. Definitely we will recommend the GCE for dinner

I arrived fashionably late (15 minutes) for my own dinner party of 6-8 people of which the guests had arrived,...we were seated immediately at a lovely table which for the size of the establishment, any seating is prime,...the server was friendly and kind throughout but at meals end, we were never asked about dessert nor was I given congratulatory offerings as is customary! Prefer service at 5th ave G'town!

Ate here for the first time 03/24/2012, and I'm happy to say it's now my 2nd-fav restaurant in Nashville. Fabulous food, great service, and, though the decor is somewhat spartan, the view of downtown is really special. Pluses are the fact that you get bread and salad with your meal (are these dying customs, or is it just me?), and there was salt and pepper on the table (definitely a dying custom). The lamb satay and potato chip apps were outstanding, as was my plum pork entree, and portions are indeed large, as others have said. One minor quibble. The strawberry cake was very good, but served chilled. Cake needs to be room temperature to be truly outstanding, restaurant-owners. That aside, I'll definitely be back.

Everything was great! Great menu, I wanted everything on it. I chose the salmon and my date had the steak, both tasted delicious and came very timely. Appetizer was a perfectly cooked Brie and dinner rolls are like desserts, doughnut like. Service was excellent, very attentive, polite and timely. Location was kind of weird. It's easily seen but difficult to access. I had a hard time to find parking below which grants you the best access to the entrance. We ended parking on the street level. The entrance there is tucked into the breezeway; takes a bit to find it. Overall, great experience. If you like the original Germantown Cafe, you'll enjoy this.

We have always loved Germantown Cafe and were looking forward to trying out Germantown East. We met friends there and all in all had a pleasant time. We were however, disappointed with the food. Three of us got the special of Grouper and I got the Green Plate. Neither lived up to our expectations. The roasted red pepper bisque however, was exceptional. Good service, friendly staff, subdued, sophisticated atmosphere made it a nice evening and we will certainly try it again.

We got our reservations last minute, but expected it to be more crowded for a Friday Night. It has a decent location but parking could be tough if you dont know where to park (underground covered parking garage). We were seated at once and the server was nice and patient with us as we were taking our time. The menu was good, and we shared the brie whcih everyone enjoyed. I had Roasted Red Pepper soup du jour and it was great. For meals, I had the trout, my wife had the pork, and our friends each had the duck. Everyone devoured their meal and were there for 2.5 hours. By the time we left at around 9:45 the place was empty. I hope they make it because it was a great night. Our bill was easy on the wallet as well.

Excellent food and very attentive service. Patricia, our server, paced our meal perfectly. We enjoyed several courses (baked brie was a hit!) and had just enough time in between each to relax and anticipate the next. The chargrilled sirloin perfectly medium rare-yet still charred on the outside, and the daily catch was a zesty blackened grouper with etoufee sauce & pepper jack risotto-wonderful flavors all blending together with just the right amount of heat. We enjoyed the chocolate bread pudding much more than the peach tart, and both desserts were served with a rich vanilla ice cream. Great meal-great restaurant

The food was really good and the restaurant had large proportions. Ordered an appetizer and an entree and I couldn't finish my food even though I wanted to. The service wasn't all that great. Our server, Andrew, was pretty disorganized, didn't know the specials off the top of his head, didn't have good manners when it came to delivering our food. The restaurant isn't very expensive either so it's a pretty good location for a first date or just a laid back dinner.

Choosen for a valentine date night with my wife we were initially impressed with the overall setting. We were greeted politely and seated promptly even though we arrived about 15 minutes early for our reservation. Our waitress, Katelyn, was vibrant and friendly. The house Riesling was to our liking as were the appetizers of crab cakes & baked Brie. We both had Caesar salads which were less than memorable with limp lettuce and a dressing that was "blah". My wife had blackened grouper that she did not really care for. I tried the 6oz tenderloin steak and found it to be be good, not great. We shared a piece of red velvet cheesecake that was excellent and should be on the menu.
