There are some nice places in Lahaina but for french food, this is it. The service is always exceptional and the food is wonderful. My husband ordered the mahi mahi with lump crab special which was superb. Everything about it is exquisite - the building, the ambiance, the food, the service. It has a superb wine list as well as a full bar. He took such great care of us and we genuinely enjoyed talking with him. Some of the highlights for us were the foie gras with poha berries, the ahi tartare, a beautiful and delicious scallop and spinach salad, a perfectly done rack of lamb, and several selections from the charcutarie section - amazing pate! They were so kind to make another order of the foie gras after closing the kitchen. (It was so good we begged for another order!). Everything we ordered ( and the four of us ordered a lot) was fabulous. The duck confit amuse bouche was perfect. Thanks Elise! Our courses were well paced. The food was well executed, very flavorable but not overpowering. The signature Hawaiian snapper was delicious and my husband really enjoyed the rhubarb cobbler with incredible ginger ice cream. Gerard himself came out to greet every guest which was a pleasant surprise and not normally seen in a restaurant like this. We had never had the Black Pudding, so it was a must. More a pork pate than a pudding, the seasonings created a wonderful taste. It was accompanied by conichons, black olives and toast. We split the Gerard salad that was fresh and flavorful. We had a difficult time deciding upon an entrée, fish or meat. I selected the lamb shank in a curry sauce accompanied by brown rice with raisins and banana poi. The flavors popped in your mouth. My wife opted for the duck confit that was accompanied with petals of fingerling garlic potatoes on a frisee lettuce dressed with a creamed shallot and tarragon dressing.
