Diner Reviews
  • "Go for the half price Oyster happy hour between 6pm and 7pm. Their selection of fresh oysters is top notch. Everything we had was unique, fresh and satisfying."

  • "Delicious food, cocktails and service. What more could you ask for on a night out!"

  • "Terrific seafood on the menu: fried smelts , shrimp with Harissa and chickpeas excellent, as are oysters and a fried haddock main. The action at the bar is sheer pageantry -- terrific fun drinks, though the martini was heavy on the vermouth. The veggie sides were underwhelming, though. Roasted beets and carrots with dill needed more dill, not just a sprig. Deep fried cauliflower was delish but the advertised romesco sauce that was to accompany it was tiny and buried under the cauliflower. Their wines by the glass list could be expanded.worth a revisit."

  • "We had a first rate dinner at Geraldine. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, and the staff all teams together for great service. Menu isn't huge but every dish we ordered was excellent. We'll definitely go back!"

  • "Lovely atmosphere, enjoyed the mustachios for a bit of theatre, and the noise level was very comfortable, for a change. We found the food to be very good - the shrimp appetizer needed a hit of lemon and some heat to accent the bland sauce. Cocktails were gorgeous! The evening would have been close to perfect if the bad oyster we found in our oyster plate had been replaced...the waiter just apologized and disappeared; a small thing, but the response was not elegant, and left an impression of indifference."

  • "Absolutely beautiful, brings you right into the 20s, or of the sorts. The ambience, the food, the staff, all perfection. Quiet, unique and fresh. Definitely go, you'll have a beautiful dinning experience!"

  • "A neighborhood gem. We say to ourselves... Why go anywhere else locally? Special atmosphere."

  • "Bit pretentious, mostly stiff waiters / bar tenders, slight lack of friendliness, quite typical TO 'going with the trend' food - good, but partially lacking execution / finesse. Beautiful bar, nice old fashioned selection of cocktails, good tab beers, worth a visit every now and then."

  • "I was looking for a placed that could compete with the incredible Prohibition era cocktails and atmosphere I encountered on a recent trip to Chicago. Geraldine came pretty close. The mixologist crafted some beautiful drinks presented in lovely vintage glassware. This is the only place I've found absinthe in the city. Half-price oysters during happy hour (6-7pm daily) is also a great value; however, I found the menu itself somewhat lacking. It was expensive, but unexceptional. I'd go again for oysters and cocktails, but not for a full meal. Lots of gluten-free choices, however, which is a plus."

  • "What's not to like? Attentive, articulate and friendly staff, delicious and interesting food in an elegant room. I definitely am coming back."

  • "Overall a very pleasant experience. Although, if I were to go back, it would simply be for oysters and beer! The food was good but too pricey for what you get (ie. warm lentil salad priced at $15...). Found it a bit pretentious to be asking those prices."

  • "great neighborhood spot with good food, great cocktails and a reasonable wine list albeit on the expensive side."

  • "Going to Geralidine is like being transported back in time. Cute funky restaurant with a retro vibe. Excellent martinis, items that are easy to share, and delicious! Sardine platter is to die for...!"

  • "My first time dining here but not my last. Service was great, cocktails were delicious and oh so boozy! I think I'm still feeling the effect from Friday night. Good food although my haddock wasn't as tasty as I'd hoped and a bit on the lukewarm side. Otherwise, all was great! Loved the atmosphere."

  • "Made reservations, got a quick phone confirmation and we were off to the races! My date was running a little late, and I called Geraldine to keep them update, they were gracious for the update. We got there and were seated opposite the bar. It was perfect for V-day, as we were seated side-to-side (instead of opposite of each other). The service was impeccable. The special menu was great (especially the oysters). We loved the wine pairings and cocktails. And, topped off with a perfect cappuccino (no sugar needed) Highly recommended."

  • "Made reservations at the Geraldine for VD. The prix fixe menu was really good and the wine pairing for each dish was spot on. Can't wait to go back again to try their regular menu."

  • "The minute you walk through the velvet curtains you will feel like you've stepped back in time and that Hemingway will be seated next to you sipping on absinthe. If you love Paris, you will not be disappointed. Everything is bang on, from the elaborate cocktails to the late-night LIVE piano sessions. Great for a romantic night out!"

  • "Cocktails and wine were fantastic and reasonably price. The food was delicious but the portion sizes were very small and expensive. The room is super cute, nicely lit and great staff. Won't be returning however because I didn't think there was much value for money."

  • "We were welcomed by a lovely hostess and enchanted as soon as we opened our cocktail menu. My friend mentioned that if there was a restaurant in Narnia, this would be it. The cocktails were incredibly well thought out, with intense layers of flavors and the food was amazing. Every detail was thought of, down to the glassware and decor. I highly recommend going to this beautiful little gem if you'd like to have all of your senses dazzled."

  • "The quality and standard of food did not come close to what they charge for it. They encourage diners to share their meals but the plating and presentation make it difficult to do. For example, two open faced sandwiches had to be tackled by myself and my guests in order that we could share. They were also overpriced."

  • "I really loved everything about this place. The ambience is great - the cocktails were fantastic - the service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. I loved the mood - deep yellow lighting, hipster bartenders, 50s blues, a really great vibe overall. I will definately be coming back here. I must say - there were some minor hiccups in food. I had the scallops - once was lovely - the other was disproportionally small and almost charred to death. They should really have never served it. Other than that, i enjoyed the food very much - was actually quite surprised by it to be honest. The dessert menu was decent but could be more ambitious."

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed our new years evening at Geraldine. The atmosphere of the room is enchanting, a cozy getaway from the dreary cold outside. The Libations menu was a treat to explore, we each had 2 different cocktails each was unique and very boozy in a classy way. The small plate dishes were just the perfect size to try everything without feeling as though you over ate. The bone marrow paired with a medallion of venison was a particular stand out. Would highly recommend for a special night out, the amazing cocktail list pairs perfectly with the hip atmosphere, we are defiantly not hipsters, but we never felt out of place."

  • "Ernest might never have quit the Toronto Star if this bistro'd been opened a century ago. From oysters to absinthe to beef tartare... Geraldine offers small plates of deliciousness, sophisticated cocktails from the bar, loads of wine and a Roaring Twenties atmosphere."

  • "Is it possible that the Geraldine is a secret pop-up shop for Hellman's? Almost every dish came with a mayonaise or aioli and while delish it became redundant and all the tastes started to blend together. Super cute venue though, lovely cocktail list, A+ on the wines on tap and very good for group dinners (though order a lot and check the number of items that come per, as it's not consistent between dishes.)"

  • "We had a wonderful dinner on Saturday evening beginning with the Absinthe which was lovely and tried several of the seafood dishes including the oysters and scallops which tasted very fresh. Grilled vegetables were overdone but the seafood dishes were divine. Unfortunately we were seated by the door and it was a freezing cold night with customers frequently going in and out. About mid-way through the evening I told the waitress we were freezing and she said there was nothing she could do. One of the waiters later apologized for the draft, but nothing was offered to compensate us for experiencing a frigid cold draft literally every 10 minutes all night long. No free cup of tea or dessert, nothing. By the time we left we were shivering."

  • "Loved the ambiance, with the retro speakeasy look! Cocktail list was extensive. Food was delicious. Liked the small plates format so we could try a wide variety of dishes. Will definitely recommend!"

  • "The feeling in Geraldine is great, and not too noisy. The cocktails are fantastic, my favourite part of the dinner (and I don't usually have these). The dishes were good, but not really special. Also, I'm getting a bit tired of the small plates, 'family style' servings. I like having my own meal, and I don't really want to have a negotiation prior to ordering, not all the time."
