Diner Reviews
  • "I got the fried chicken with greens and mashed potatoes. They were the best I have ever had! Even the gravy was delish! I wish they had one in Sacramento!!!"

  • "Our waiter carded me when I ordered a cocktail (in my early 20s) and then proceeded to bring me a complimentary peach cobbler at the end of our meal for my birthday -- even though it was several days ago! Excellent service overall (my mom just had back surgery and they brought her a towel to roll up for extra back support) and exceptional food -- always a treat to go there!"

  • "Everything from the waiter to the country fried chicken proved to be authentic. All items ordered were delicious down to the last bite. Would recommend endless mimosas for Saturday brunch."

  • "Our party of 10, please a 18month old celebrated a birthday at the restaurant. We were all from out of town, Philadelphia aNd Chicago. .... ges 72 - toddler. Both food and service were great!"

  • "Loved the atmosphere and excellent table service for dinner. Appetizer sampler was fantastic as was the Atlantic salmon and buttermilk fried chicken with greens. Got a little loud at times but the food and prompt service made up for it. Would recommend!"

  • "Only go here if you have a huge lung capacity. It was too noisy to communicate except by screaming. Too bad because otherwise quite nice."
    Dined on 4/10/2014
  • "Absolutely great food. Service was great, too, if a little too personal from the server. But the table was closely located to the music and it was impossible to hear the folks on the other side of the table. It was bad enough to keep my group from returning for our monthly get togethers."

  • "Granted it had been years since I went to Georgia Brown's and the prior experience had generally been good. This time, I checked in for my reservation at 7:15pm on time and was told we had to wait even though I could see tables open. 15 minutes later we were seated by the waiter's station. Added to this it was so dark here you could not see the menu. Further a jazz trio was playing that made conversation impossible. The food was fair though the peach cobbler was bland and simply sweet. I'd not recommend GB's again given the rude service and the poor seating."

  • "I had a great time celebrating my birthday recently at Georgia Brown. Word to the wise is BE ON TIME FOR YOUR RESERVATION. This is an extremely popular restaurant and seating is hard to come by. Great experience overall!"

  • "had a great experience at Georgia Brown's on Monday. Food was excellent, service very attentive, great variety on the menu. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area."

  • "I was really looking forward to dining here. The food met my high expectations, however the services didn't. I feel like I was profiled soon as I was seated. my guess and I ordered the chicken our server immediately placed hot sauce on our table without us requesting ii I thought it was thoughtful until The guests at the table next to use ordered the samething and they receive hot sauce. IFeel like my server sterotyped use based on my race and age. Lookingaround I could see my server was giving much more attention to all his other guests. My side order never came. They replaced it with something I didnt order. I had to request water refills. My server never checked to see was everything ok. Overall he wasnt very attentive."

  • "The food and service were outstanding. There were great food choices for a variety of tastes. We enjoyed the Devil Shrimp and the catfish...both well prepared and fresh. Our hotel concierge recommended the restaurant and it did not disappoint. The flavors were vibrant and even better than expected. I have had many Low Country meals in Charleston and the surrounding area and none have been any better than this. I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "We had a dinner reservation somewhere else for 9:15PM, when told nothing earlier was available cancelled and decided to look for other options. Georgia Brown's menu look good, they had a 7:30PM spot and we took it. Our server was amazing and all his drink and food recs were spot on."

  • "My only complaint is that the food from the buffet wasn't very hot. It was actually pretty chilled, unfortunately. Turn those burners up!"

  • "Great food ---well paced, which made for a perfect dinning experience. There were 5 of us and we all left talking about the excellent food and atmosphere."

  • "This was the third time I've gone to Georgia Brown's - and while overall it was a positive experience and I would recommend it, I do think the restaurant has stopped paying attention to important details. My biggest complaint would be that the staff handling the buffet do nothing to keep the buffet clean. This means that if you come at the end of brunch there is a mess of spilled sides, sauces, grits, syrup, etc etc etc all over the buffet."

  • "I've never once not been satisfied with my overall experience at Georgia Brown. It's always busy. Yet, I've been able to be seated within 2-5 minutes of my reservation."
    Dined on 4/4/2014
  • "the ladies restroom needs a complete renovation--no purse hooks in the stalls, see-through drill holes on all the stall panels including between the stalls, and no lotion dispenser in the handicap stall even though there was a sink. the food was good but could be viewed as traditional or out of date/not modern. the music was way too loud for workwork lunch!!"

  • "I've been going to Georgia Brown's for decades and have always found the service and food to be outstanding. Not so on my recent visit. My business guest had food allergies and the waiter was unable to adequately answer her many questions about ingredients. She specifically asked that one food ingredient not be included in her order. Surprised that it showed up on the platter. She ate around it. Waiter never asked if I wanted a refill on my drink order. Unapologetic about the misfire on the guest's food order and didn't offer to remedy the situation."

  • "The service was good, but the restaurant was crowded and noisy on a Wed night. Not a place to go for a special occasion"
    Dined on 4/2/2014
  • "My sister had the Amish chicken (which the waiter pushed) and it was meh. Brother-in-law had buttermilk chicken and loved it. I had shrimp and grits which were only so-so. The dining room is lovely but noisy, and there was a strange smell of old seafood or shrimp that was disconcerting."

  • "Server was good, food was adequate, noise level was horrific and decor is dated and tables are too close together. Considering all the new restaurants in this town, Georgia Brown's needs to update if they want to compete."

  • "This is my second time dining at Georgia Browns and the food was really good. I had the catfish and spinach and macaroni and cheese."
    Dined on 3/26/2014
  • "Although we had a reservation our group was still getting into town and came in waves. They were able to shift around a bit as our group grew. Had a great sever named Edwin that new the menu and kept things up. Chimee Sterak was the hit but fried chicken right behind. I thought the mashed potatoes could have used a bit more flavor but the gravy covered that up."

  • "I took my parents to Georgia Brown's jazz brunch when they were in town. Food and musicians were fantastic. Will be coming back again very soon."

  • "We were visiting D.C. and I was looking for a special restaurant for our final dinner and also to celebrate my husband's bday - we were not disappointed! The restaurant is beautiful with a fun ambiance. The food was amazing (and this is in comparison to other good restaurants in Boston!). We loved the she crab soup - best soup I've ever tasted. We also loved the crab cakes, beet salad, fried chicken, shrimp and grits. But the highlight of the evening was our waiter Vernon. He was very patient and kind to us 1st timers, he was very knowledgeable and helpful with the menu, he was attentive and he was funny! To top it off, he surprised my husband with a complimentary peach cobbler a la mode - which was big enough for all 5 of us to share!"

  • "GB is my "special treat" spot! The food is a bit pricey, but worth every penny!"
    Dined on 3/27/2014
  • "The brunch was ok. I think the jambalaya was horrid! Take it off the brunch table! The French toast was hard, but the waffles rocked!!! The live music was cool! I also really appreciate the to-go meal...nice bonus."
    Dined on 3/30/2014
  • "Food was fantastic, everyone in our group of 8 ordered something different, and everyone raved about their selection. Drinks were good as well. Service was a tad slow, but not terrible. The restaurant was fairly loud, which made it difficult for conversation across the table, but We enjoyed that we were seated at a round table rather than one long table. Overall fun, delicious experience. Would eat here again."

  • "Food was served to us within 3 mins of ordering . Indicates to us all prepared well in advance and seemed that was as it was Luke warm well over spiced."
    Dined on 3/30/2014
  • "Great good and I love the take home entree ideas! But what is up with the jazz music being so loud at brunch? We couldn't hear ourselves talk!"
    Dined on 3/30/2014
  • "Medium size restaurant with high level of noise, due to live band for Sunday brunch. Good food and great for a sunny day, as you can sit outside with shaded umbrellas. Nice for small or large parties. Attentive staff and servers. Recommend highly!"

  • "Food was plentiful and good, great atmosphere, music was terrific"

  • "Food was good but expensive, large portions though. Cornbread was very good. Very loud, hard to hear across the table."
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "After our first meal there was so good, we couldn't wait to go back. However, our waiter was very slow and not very attentive. Food was still good, but was almost tempted not to tip even 15%."
    Dined on 3/25/2014
  • "Food was excellent, server Vernon was outstanding. Usually don't give 30% tip, but he was worth it. Great meal, will be back soon."

  • "If you are in DC, you have to put this restaurant on your list of things to do. The food was excellent as well as the service. Try the stuffed shrimp or the pork chop. Goodness. And definitely start with the fried green tomatoes."
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "Food is wayyyyy over-rated. I had the fried chicken; Popeyes is better!"
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "We were very disappointed with the taste of the food. We had a variety from the menu and none us liked what we had. I would not recommend this restaurant"
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "Love this place! It is gorgeous inside, the service is about as good as it can get and the food is definitely made with love and pride! I can't wait until my next trip back to DC...I will be back! I highly recommend this restaurant!"
