  • "Went there for restaurant week. The special menu only had three selection from which to choose from, none of which was worthy of Restaurant Week."

  • "The Sunday Brunch was a nice pleasant experience. Service could've been but better, but it was fine never-the-less. The food was delicious, and we will return for repeated dining or brunching. LOL We will recommend Georgia Brown's Sunday Brunch to others."

  • "Not so good. Food came out and parts of it was hot and parts of it were cold. Took too long for waiter to return to table so not worth the complaint. Super packed but seemed like food was pre-made and heated up. Not a good experience for someone new to the area and wanted the best "soul" food. Not sure if it is worth returning to."

  • "I was excited to go to Georgia Browns, but sadly was disappointed in my meal and service. It felt like our waiter was annoyed to be serving us the entire time. The food is ok, but definitely not true southern food. More like southern for Yankees."

  • "Has been one of my favorite restaurants and shall happily remain in that position!"

  • "The evening was a failure from both the service and the food side. On the service side: Staff were audibly complaining about having to work that night. Our server never returned to our table after taking our order. We never received all our food. A glass was dropped directly beside our table and was not cleaned nor were we invited to move. On the food side there isn't much to say except the food was marginal at best. I can forgive poor service for exceptional food but that wasn't the case. The biscuits were inedible, the salad was wilted, and the entree was extremely acidic. The quality was TGIF caliber on a night they're training new line chefs. On the plus side, the weather was beautiful and the bartender that served us was pleasant."

  • "You can't even hear yourself think in this noisy joint, but the food is good and the service is too."

  • "A group from work went to Georgia Brown's for lunch and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience! I was very pleased with the gluten free menu - they have a lot of choices for those of us with celiac disease or gluten intolerance!"

  • "The smoked lamb shank was heavenly and the combination of flavors with the sautéed onions and sweet potatoes truly was splendid. I would return to feast here on any next visit to the DC area."

  • "Hit this place for Restaurant Week and it didn't disappoint. Food was great. Service was great. Portions were insane."

  • "Food not bad but nothing special. Very very noisy place, imposible to matain a conversation, very anoying."

  • "We finally were able to secure a reservation and Georgia Brown's lived up to its reputation and our expectations. The food was of course fabulous. Our appetizers included yellow tomato gazpacho, fried green tomato, and beet deviled eggs (the best). Entrees were fried chicken, blackened salmon, deconstructed jambalaya, and GB's signature gumbo (better than anything I've had in New Orleans). Desserts were peach cobbler, chocolate bourbon pecan tart, and lemon chess pie. We had to roll ourselves out at the end, we were so stuffed. The portions are quite generous, even for Restaurant Week. As good as the food was, the service was outstanding. Our server was made us feel like part of his family and he really knew the menu well."

  • "Although the food and service were great, the noise level was such it would not make for a romantic evening unless you didn't want to talk with your date. Luckily I was able to turn down my hearing aids."

  • "The food was good, and the service was great. Cocktails are VERY good, especially the Georgia Peach Martini. I had the Devil Shrimp which was tasty with nice sides, and the bread pudding was fantastic."

  • "The buffet was outstanding. My party really appreciated that we had the option to take home the "Act II" entree. I will definitely be back for dinner as soon as I'm in the area again."

  • "There is no reason to list how perfect this place was. I was simply excellent."

  • "While the biscuits and cornbread were true southern delicacies I didn't feel the Devilish Shrimp were all that great. Not enough different textures on the plate to satisfy a curious palette. The people I was dining with enjoyed their fried meatloaf but we're not impressed with the Red Velvet cake. Our waitress was fantastic though. An older woman who was a true spit fire."

  • "We ordered the crab cake appetizer, which was a little mushy. The friend chicken, gravy, smashed red potatoes and collards totally made up for it. The fried chicken was tasty, crunchy on the outside, moist on the inside."

  • "We enjoy Georgia Brown's for lunch, dinner, and even Christmas Dinner. We've never had a bad experience. The food is always piping hot and tasty."

  • "Good to see that one of the historical African American restaurants of the day is still thriving. The live entertainment was a nice treat and the "take home entrée" along with the buffet brunch was a nice bonus making it worth the $40 price tag."

  • "Brunch at Georgia Brown's on Sunday was amazing. I went with my mom to celebrate her birthday and she enjoyed the selection of buffet items. She particularly loved that we got to take a meal home with us and I particularly loved the mimosas. :)"

  • "A rare find in USA, a restaurant where food is actually cooked by proper chefs. kitchen is visible which is always a good sign of a confident restaurant. Good décor and only a short stroll from the White House."

  • "With the exception of one particular waiter who was rude, GB is my spot. I hope they get rid of the problem, because all the other servers are Great. Never experienced this before and hope the plague is wiped out. I like GB, but the next I go if he us there, that will b my last visit. Manager is outstanding and I hope she gets rid of him. He's ghetto and that is not the place for that."

  • "After all these years this restaurant seems to only get better with food "to die for." My favorite is the chicken liver appetizer. For the last week I have been dining out with my family from out of town. This was the last restaurant stop prior to their departure. They raved about the food and stated that when they come back to DC that they will visit Georgia Brown's again."

  • "My husband and I were celebrating our 6th wedding anniversary and chose Georgia Brown's. I lived in the DMV back in the late 90s and visited Georgia Brown's a few times. My husband had never been to the DC area and wanted to celebrate there. I felt this would be a great opportunity for us to go together and I'm glad we did. He loved it! The food was great, the service amazing, and the band was awesome!! The only bad experience, which is no reflection on the restaurant, was the rude valet attendant. We traveled from Memphis and would definitely go again."

  • "A collegue from Atlanta was on business in DC. I suggested Georgia Brown for dinner since he was staying at the St.Regis Hotel. It was easy t get a reservation via Open Table. Our meals and I suggest the pork chops were excellent. Ok -- I will return again Excellent spot"

  • "This was our second time visiting Georgia Brown's and, similar to the first visit, the food was fantastic and the waitress was great -- very humorous and attentive. We had dinner reservations for 7:30 but they were able to seat us early. It was a VERY busy night and the place was packed; however, the food and service did not suffer one bit. It was nothing less than phenomenal. If I had to complain about something, it would be that the tables for two are extremely close to one another. The noise level is high and you pretty much have to yell to talk to your dinner mate which is more than likely disruptive to the neighboring table."

  • "Recommend the fried green tomatoes, devil shrimp, rainbow trout & meatloaf."

  • "The food was great -- my group had the salmon, fried meatloaf, devil shrimp, the skirt steak, and the chocolate bourbon pecan pie. Service was a bit inattentive and the food took forever. The most noticeable thing, however, was that it was deafeningly loud the entire time we were there. Granted, Friday night around 8pm. But I did not enjoy shouting my entire birthday dinner. I'd come back, but would request outdoors, as that seemed much quieter."

  • "I have not been to a restaurant in a while that left me with nothing good to say. I noted a change in GB's a couple of years ago, but today made me know that the change was real. There was no soul in the soul food. Everyone including the server we had just seemed to be going through the motions. It was almost sad. What happened to the love."

  • "This was my 2nd visit in 5+ years, but the food was not as good as I remembered. I ordered the fried chicken and the menu nor the server mentioned it would be slathered with gravy that I would not have requested. The mac and cheese was good but the yams mushy. Server was professional, yet inattentive, not paying attention to restaurant social ques and had to ask someone else to find him twice."

  • "My friend and I came from NYC for the weekend and it was a great choice. We started with the catfish appetizers and the mussel pot. They were served in no time and came out hot and fresh! It was perfectly seasoned and tasted amazing. There was a great coleslaw that came with the catfish appitizers that had a nice twist with grapes and feta cheese--it was devoured! For entrees we had the fried catfish with honey glazed yams and collard greens! I loved every bit. It came out fresh and hot as well. I loved the fact that it was not overly salty like some southern restaurants were. My friend had the shrimp and grits--the grits were creamy and thick. Not runny and tastes wonderful. I will definitely make another visit!"
