Was really looking forward to my dining experience here. I heard the fried chicken was amazing. Although our server was excellent and the fried green tomatoes as well as the deviled eggs were amazing the chicken was not. Family Meal in Frederick has better fried chicken. Your chef should go there!

Food was really delicious-- and that is clearly important when dining. Service is not so good. Our poor waiter didn't understand my question of pan fried vs deep fried. He didn't seem to be a top notch waiter in general. Clearly the staff gets to select the music. This was the WORST. Part. It was terrible R&B. Loud, horrible R&B. Just really ruined a good experience. Had the music been bearable- it would have been a pretty good visit. Goes to show how far a little good music and service goes.

The staff and experience are outstanding as always. Stick with the southern cooking related brunch items, which are also outstanding. The typical brunch items are good but not nearly as memorable or yummy as their specialties (e.g., grits and jambalaya).

We really like this restaurant. Washington in general is not the greatest place for really good food. High prices and average food is the norm. Georgia Brown's is none of that. Good food , good service, reasonable prices for the area. This place is a really good choice for eating out in the downtown DC area.

Georgia Brown is an upscale restaurant serving Southern cuisine, outstanding personalized service, and a unique variety of selections in all categories of the menu. All ethnicities can be found enjoying the atmosphere while you listen to the best of old school but relaxing R & B music. Service is fast despite the crowd. I went on a Friday for my birthday. They are correct in suggesting you make a reservation. We were seated quickly and ahead of a large group that entered just in front of us. The staff made quite an impression! Will definitely visit again and suggest to others.

Overall the restaurant has a great ambiance but the food. Unfortunately I was not impressed. Super bland and thankfully they had Crystal's hot sauce to add some flavor to the catfish. I'm from the south (Texas) and this is not southern food at all.

Me and my boyfriend dined here on our last night in Washington DC. We had experienced horrible food and mediocre service at all the other resteraunts we had been to during our stay until we came here. We are from Boston and were looking for a menu that was not something we could get at home, and this place was it! Everything was great from the drinks to dessert.

Was at Georgia Brown years ago, and remember loving it. This time around - still loved the style, atmosphere and food choices, but the buffet was not well-stocked and the food was cold. I hadn't been to here for 9 years, and while planning a girl's day out decided to choose it for brunch. BIG mistake! The restaurant is nothing as I recall it. The music was way too loud - in fact, it was deafening; the seating arrangements were so cramped; the breakfast food stations were nothing like before; and the carry-out lunch was the pits - I received one-third of what was given at my last visit and having ordered the fried chicken to go I had to inquire which part of the chicken it was as it was shriveled and unidentifiable. To top it all off, the price has almost doubled! Don't worry about me anymore, Georgia, I'll leave your restaurant to unsuspecting visitors who've never been or haven't been for a very long time!

We went to the Sunday brunch with the understanding that it would be among the best in town. We arrived right on time for our 10 a.m. reservation and had to wait 15 minutes for the restaurant to open for seating. (I guess it opens at 10). The spread was great, but they haven't mastered the different between cold foods and hot foods -- so cold foods were warm and hot foods seemed like they had been sitting out for a very long time. On the other hand, the jazz trio was great.

I love Georgia Brown's!!! However, this time the food wasn't quite as good as normal. I'm not sure if it was because I had a 10:30pm reservation and they closed at 11pm, or what it was. I always have the fried chicken but, this time it wasn't cooked all the way done. The macaroni & cheese was delicious, just as the collard greens were. We also had the pecan pie, which was quite disappointing as well. Too many pecans and not enough filling. Our waitress was great!!! The staff is always friendly!

We dinned early (for us) at 5:45pm, and were the first ones to be seated for dinner. Despite that we got the worst table in the restaurant. I was seated in the walk way and asked by the hostess to move my chair closer to the table so others could walk through. I was a good sport about it, but annoyed at the table choice. Our waiter saved the night. He realized right away that this was not ideal location for a party of four and promptly offered us one of the other tables in his section. We happily moved and were very thankful. Our waiter was fantastic. Very knowledgable, friendly, and took great care of our party. The food was great, and I very much enjoyed the southern staples of sweet tea and fried green tomatoes. We will return.

Picked this place from the Open Table reviews, and the Low Country menu excited me. I was looking for something different than steaks or Italian. Sat at a bar table to watch baseball, so the bartender was the server. He was actually great - pretty attentive, considering he was handling the bar and the bar area tables. Started with a signature drink (peach martini - don't judge me). Kind of lame. Deviled eggs were mixed (bacon ones - good, crab ones - bland). I asked if the shrimp and grits were awesome, and he told me yes. Not so much. They came in a broth - never had them like that in Charleston. Beer selection limited. Overall, it was just OK. I left hungry and disappointed. I should have gone for Italian.

I had high expectations for this restaurant which may be why I was left feeling like the experience was just ok. Not great. The biscuits served on arrival were excellent, cornbread OK. Waiter was over-patronizing and poured our wine way too often, which is annoying (I know should have told him to stop!). Then was no where to be seen whencheck was required. Chided me for taking home leftovers. Food was good, but not memorable or outstanding. Fried catfish was good, accompanying rice was dry and overcooked. Devil shrimp also slightly overcooked and crab stuffing had too much breading for my taste (from MD!). The spinach was excellent. Wine list is very pricey, no reasonable choices under $50 which I hate, come on!! Won't go back.

I was looking forward to the Jazz Brunch @ Georgia Brown's for our last day in DC and was not disappointed. However, you have to be prepared for a LOT of food. The three "acts" of buffet, entree and dessert can be overwhelming, so if you have a way to take the entree with you and have it for dinner, that would be recommended. We sat near the Jazz Trio and thoroughly enjoyed the music. As this was not an inexpensive venture, saving it for a special occasion might be the way to fit it into your budget. But the great and delicious food, the terrific service and the wonderful ambiance so close to the White House was just what I was looking for

We arrived at 7:58 PM dinner reservations for 8 PM. One of the people in our party was sitting at the bar so we proceeded to say hello and get one drink at the bar. At 8:06 PM I checked in at the hostess table in which she replied "what timere is your reservation?" When I said 8 PM she said "I didn't see you at 8 PM (6 mins ago) and I don't have a table for you and I don't know what to tell you and maybe sometime tonight I'll have a table. I thought maybe she heard me incorrectly so I said "it's only 8:06pm and she replied "I don't know what to tell you." This lady really needs to be trained on how to speak to customers!!! I spoke to a very nice gentleman at the front desk in about 30 seconds later we had a table.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon -- Deeply appreciated that GB's will accept weekend reservations & not make you wait to call in the early evening ON Saturday to place one (many new places in DC do this, which is tough when people are coming in from out of town). Staff was nice, waiter was extremely helpful & patiently explained items on the menu for an adventurous person in our group who wanted more info. We got the deviled-egg sampler for our appetizer & felt that the texture of crab and egg do not really go together well. Shrimp and grits I had were tasty, as were any of the dishes we tried that included a broth, but be sure to ask, since the chefs re-imagine many traditional dishes, i.e. Jambalaya is actually served w/o broth.
