Diner Reviews
  • "The service was excellent the food interesting and will prepared, nice combinations of flavors. the mouse desert was especially good with 4 flavors combined in pairs, clever and tasty"

  • "I hadn't been to Georges for a while and was happy to see that the food remains as outstanding as ever! My party had the fish sandwich, fish tacos and an entree with seared tuna on top of a garbanzo pancake. All three dishes were excellent."

  • "Perfect spot to take a client to lunch. A little noisy, but great food, great service, and you are in and out in an hour or less."

  • "Great sea food, nice wine list and interesting cocktals. Very good service. A bit cramped and loud, but not a problem."

  • "Had never heard of this place but my friend wanted to meet somewhere near Bart where he could have seafood. Highly reccomend the specials they have. Owner and staff friendly and helpful."

  • "Nice place, but nothing to rave about. I had the infamous fish tacos. I guess I'm spoiled by a dive on the Peninsula that had fish tacos that are amazing. The service was prompt, wine was pricey per most restaurants, and my guest liked her seared ahi tuna. Would I go back? Maybe, but nothing memorable on this trip."

  • "Service was not good today - not sure what the problem was - but she was not on her A game today. Service was slow. Food coming out of the kitchen was slow. Didn't feel like there was much attention to making sure we were all happy. Acoustics seemed worse than usual - very noisy. Overall, not what I normally expect at Georges - I love the food, usually love the service, but every restaurant has a bad day, and unfortunately we got to experience it with them today....(:"

  • "A great spot downtown that I would definitely recommend, the food is great and the service was really good! I would not go with more than 4 people in a group."

  • "One of the best places to have a authentic "Ceasar Salad""
    Dined on 3/25/2014
  • "Extraordinary service, personal attention. The cioppino was the best I've ever had; Great vibe but too loud for serious conversation."

  • "We were looking for a restaurant close to our hotel, Le Meridian, and did not want a chain restaurant (Mortons, etc.). George's was great. Creative food and friendly team. I wish I could have the salad every night. Might be a bit energetic for a business setting, but great for a casual, fun meal."

  • "I love Georges - I know I can get my fish tacos with double guac - always exactly the same and just as fresh as if I were in Cabo. We shares a nice green salad, ice tea, and I had my tacos and my lunch friend had her seared tuna - exactly what we both wanted and what we always eat. Boring - no, yummy- yes, great service, attentive without being overbearing, anticipating what we needed and just doing it!"

  • "Cioppino oversalted . Rest of food also highly salted. Menu interesting, eclectic and (perhaps0 overly ambitious for the cook that night? Altogether a good place for fish and oysters in the Financial District"

  • "Superb staff, fabulous food, excellent environment!"

  • "At Georges, the food is always absolutely terrific, inventive, interesting and delicious. The service is everything you want it to be and a textbook for others to follow- the hosts are warm and welcoming, the service professional, observant and responsive, and you never feel either that you need a red flag to get attention or that the waitstaff is obtrusively hovering or interrupting. When you leave Georges, you feel well taken care of in every way-"

  • "Chose it for location & it satisfied dining partner's seafood diet. We were there on a Friday evening. Restaurant was not full. They sat us at a 2 person table. There was a very small space between our table and the next. Yet some guy that works at restaurant (he had an apron on but was not the server) insisted on squeezing into this small space to talk to the female diner.....yes, we had his behind / and his back way too close for comfort ...3 star service only for our server. Will not return or recommend."

  • "I recently visited London where I was looking forward to good fish and chips. I never found it. All the places I tried could take a lesson from Georges. Some of the best fish and chips ever and the service was perfect even at a busy lunch hour."

  • "I recently had dinner here with five friends on a Saturday night. Waitstaff was very welcoming and attentive, and the food was exceptional. Our table was ready for us on arrival and the house tonic with local Bummer and Lazarus gin was way too easy to drink! Outstanding appetizers include the albacore tuna crudo and a salt cod gravlax, which was a special that night. For an entree, I ordered the scallops with grilled cauliflower puree, broccoli rabe, and a nasturtium(!) salsa verde. It was outstanding. Restaurant was full but I don't recall it being too noisy or having to strain to hear others in our party. All in all, in was a great night out with friends!"

  • "Hiked all day ith our teenagers at Stinson beach. Starving and we'ee all foodies from ann arbor. Found this on yelp , made online reservations. Absolutely best food (and affordable) . The ricatta gnocchi, (should have had the full size) the fish dish, the soup of the day were all incredible, (seafood soup of the day- was huge! )and the The doughnut dessert? We all tasted all the dishes . Mom and dad had a house priced red and white. Chef and owner were there and it was a great, exciting energetic vibe. Loudish, but good contrast to the quiet day hiking. Quick walk from hotel."

  • "I went here for lunch and had the Dungenous crab salad and my dining companion had fish & chips. We both had a cup of coffee as well and the bill was $54? The salad was decent sized and it didn't knock my socks off. I thought it was expensive for what we got. I could get a better lunch at the same price or just as good a lunch for cheaper at plenty of places in the financial district."

  • "Good selection of oysters. Scallops with cauliflower was excellent and the pana cotta was light and clean and flavorful . I plan to come again."

  • "Our server was wonderful. I like George's food a lot. My only complaint is the noise level. If you want a nice quiet sit down dinner for talking, this is not the place."

  • "Totally worth working through and around the Chinese New Year Parade to have dinner at George's. As a group of 10, coming from different directions, Evin (one of the owners), was beyond accepting of our varying degrees of tardiness for our 8p.m. res, due to the difficulties of getting downtown with the parade. The service was impeccable, nobody was slighted their special requests even in a group so big and with the restaurant itself so busy. Never saw a prettier or eaten a better Caesar Salad. The grilled artichoke was delicious. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed their entrees...Cioppino, gnocchi and scallops were stand-outs. . GO TO GEORGE'S."

  • "the $85 per person pre fix was way over price for the quality of food and the choice/selections were just too limiting .."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "We sat in the front, so noise was not a problem, however, if one was seated in the middle of the long narrow space, I could see where that could be a problem. We had a wonderful meal of grilled fish, mashed pots and creamed spinach. And a good glass of sauvignon blanc."

  • "George's is a wonderful, warm place for dinner, drinks or lunch. Our dinner was for six people, and fabulous evening chef Kyle Fong started us out with a little homemade tomato soup and grilled cheese on a rainy night to warm us up. We had two dozen oysters and I had the trout, which is a favorite (and a huge plate of food). Valharona chocolate gelato? OMG delicious. Go there. You won't be disappointed."

  • "The food, service and atmosphere were very impressive."

  • "The food was great but the service was very poor. We waited and waited. Then, we realized that the extremely busy bartender behind the bar was our server. He was just slammed with drink orders and didn't have the time to serve our table. Our oyster order arrived and was incorrect. This was remedied and we were comped a glass or wine for the mistake which was generous. However, the service did not improve. As we waited we watched the bartender pouring several stiff cocktails and consuming them himself. Unacceptable. Despite the delicious food we doubt that we will go back for another meal. Too bad this restaurant has staffing issues."

  • "The ambiance, food, drinks, and service were above and beyond what I expected! I enjoyed a couple Moscow Mules, fried calamari, trout with greens and mashed potatoes, and the adorable donuts with chocolate ganache. I have no complaints or even suggestions as to how to improve any of the dishes. That's saying a lot for me!"
