A word from George Restaurant
Executive Chef Loseto’s innovative "Toronto Cuisine" is devoted to seasonal, natural, local, and sustainable food from the city’s markets. “This means that the food is inspired not only by the seasons, but also the variety of products available from many different cultures around the world,” says Loseto. This principle of fresh and eclectic variety is brought to the tables of our patrons at George.

Guests are encouraged to order from a five, seven, or ten course tasting menu in order to fully explore the bold flavours and textures of Chef Loseto’s cooking. Wine pairings carefully selected by the sommelier team are a wonderful addition to the tasting experience. The wine program is focused on quality, sustainability and terroir. Wines are sourced from small suppliers with a focus on unique appellations and varietals. At the table, one of our five sommeliers will ensure selections are perfectly paired with the unique cuisine.

Diner Reviews
  • "I hosted my team for a dinner at George this past Wednesday evening, and I could not say enough about the great service & food. Everything was perfect, along with a great dining environment. Everyone raived about the food, and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Not my first time at this restaurant and definitely not my last."

  • "My second time dining here and first time for the other guests. . Excellent food and quality. Staff was very attentive. Great ambiance. Not terribly noisy. The space has a lot of character and felt intimate. The 7 course menu was perfect."

  • "9 excellent courses with wine pairings. Perfectly executed and perfectly delivered to our table with great pacing. Trout Ceviche, the award-winning Yellow Fin Tuna, Cashew Crusted Cod are some of the lighter early dishes presented .. then moving into Pork Belly, Cornish Hen and Rack of Lamb ... finished with a nice light Meringue dessert. Congratulations again to Chef for his Gold Medal win this year. Can't wait to return."

  • "Nestled in a part of town where you might not expect to find such a gem is George. Food is very creative with layers of flavors. Portions are sized well enough that multiple dishes can be sampled, and each can be completely enjoyed. Servers are unusually knowledgeable and attentive. George is definitely a place that demands a return visit."

  • "Fantastic! Had the 7-course tasting menu and the only regret I have was not selecting the wine pairing to accompany it! Excellent service! Delicious fresh dishes! I've already recommended it to everyone I've talk to!"

  • "Dined at George pre- theatre and loved it. Great Service- the waiter split an appetizer and a salad for us so we wouldn't be too full for mains and dessert. Lovely selection of wine... The waiter even called a taxi for us so we would be on time for our show"

  • "Chose this restaurant to celebrate our 33rd anniversary. The restaurant is beautiful, service was outstanding and food was very good. Real keeper for special occasions."

  • "Seven course tasting menu with paired wines. One of the finest food presentations that I've ever enjoyed. Well done. Not inexpensive, and service was slow, but it was great. Well worth the wait and money."

  • "We have been to the George a few times, but have never tried the tasting course. This time we were up for it and had the 5 course tasting menu with the wine pairings. It was such a treat! Amazingly great pairings, fantastic explanations of the wines, and when you choose the 5 course tasting menu with someone else you each get 10 different dishes so it is a foodies delight. Impressed by the George on a whole other level."

  • "Food to mention duck breast, tuna, sea bass, banana coconut cream dessert all favorites of the night. Service was great. Only criticism is to be careful of the soap and hand cream in the washroom as the scent was overpowering and lingered through the end of dinner. Maybe a more neutral scent would be more accommodating to the food."

  • "My Wife & I had the 4-Course Tasting Menu based on the Chef's Gold Medal Plates National Championship awarding winning dishes. We were pleasantly surprised when we each had Different Dishes, apparently based on Tasting Menu A & B (NOT on Menu), so that we shared 8 Different Dishes! I'm giving this Experience 5-Stars because we received Superb Food at Great Value! At $75/person, we received Glass of Champagne, Amuse + 3 Courses + Dessert. If we had dined in similar Finer Dining spots in Financial or Entertainment Districts, it would cost at least 50% more for this Level of experience. Simple fresh ingredients done extremely well. Environment relaxed & unpretentious. My Wife loved the Apple Sponge dessert, and we'll be back!"

  • "One of the best restaurants in Toronto (and Canada) hands down. I agree with some of the previous comments saying the experience is amazing. Service is impeccable. I do not consume red meat/chicken but eat fish/seafood and had the 5 courses meal. The food presentation was incredible and the flavors, even better. I was with friends from NYC that eat in great Soho/Tribeca restaurants on a regular base and they were all very astonished by the quality of food/wine at George."

  • "..........the restaurant was half empty but our table was the one right in the door........why?......not very enjoyable; we asked to be moved and the answer was "in your reservation you asked for a quite area and here is quiet"....hmmmmm....right in the door....overall this waiter was not very friendly Our reservation was on a Sunday night when the restaurant was opened specifically for the PDMC event; I guess the waiter was not very happy working on Sunday Anyway it was too cold outside to go and find another place. No regret,s the food balanced the experience. Food is exceptional, exotic, fancy, tasty......the 5 course dinner with wine pairing was fantastic. Pricy? Very."

  • "Two of us went in for dinner for a 7:15pm reservation. It was a Saturday night. We ordered a five course tasting menu for each of us. I don't blame the server but we didn't leave until well after 10:45pm. The kitchen was backed up, happens I understand, but 30-45 minutes between courses seems long to me. The couple beside us decided rightly so to make a fuss. This was their third time there and claimed that this was the worst it had ever been. I also brought a birthday cake from a bakery and for some reason they cut the cake before it was presented to the birthday girl."

  • "Visited the restaurant for a birthday dinner with my girlfriend, from the moment we walked in till we left the service and food was simply amazing. My girlfriend described the food as the best she's ever had - and although it was a bit pricey, it was worth every penny. From booking I requested a little birthday note on the dessert with a candle - in which I forget myself until we had finished our mains. By then I had started to panic as I couldn't ask if they had received the request in a subtle manner without the birthday girl knowing. Luckily the waiter asked in a subtle manner - and completed the request perfectly as a surprise - without a doubt one of the best restaurants I have been to yet."

  • "This is the best restaurant I have been to, hands down. In terms of quality of food and service. Although the menu is not as extensive as other restaurants, there is enough to choose from and we were so pleased with the complexity of each and every food that was served. Just excellent! We were warned beforehand that the portions are smaller than those normally served in other restaurants. As such, it may be a little pricey. However, as someone who is watching her food intake, it was just the righ amount. And because each bite is a treat to the tastebuds, you end up being fully satisfied."

  • "3 couples dined here to celebrate my 60th birthday. We were seated in a private area of the dining room which was great for noise and to enjoy the celebration. Many diners had trouble choosing which of so many great options were available on the menu. All of the food met or exceeded expectations from both a taste and presentation standpoint (except the gnocchi which probably failed on both counts). Definitely a great choice for a celebration."

  • "Thoroughly wonderful dining experience at George. Very quiet and comfortable even though completely full. Two of our party are vegetarians and there were fabulous choices for each course - not all tofu even!! We'll be back for sure."

  • "We went for the 7-course vegetarian tasting - more than we expected. Starters were mouthfuls of flavour and texture punches and built up to the main entrees with heartier ingredients like potatoes, tofu, and artichokes. My favourite appetizers paired a seed wafer with a yummy cheesy pasta (the kind they use in italian wedding soup) and these amazing lentils, lots of texture but very pleasant and infused with flavour. George restaurant paid attention to everything, like the bread (we asked for a second serving) - always combined a soft, crunchy, and medium crumb type - the ciabatta was my favourite - it was baked-that-morning/or-a-few-hours-ago soft and we used that to sop up all the sauces. Extremely enjoyable evening, thanks George!"

  • "The food is top shelf! She had the Fixed price 5 selections and I had the fixed price 7 selection (there is a 10 selection as well!) It was our Valentine's Date Night and she had never been to Georges before. 5th time for me The wine parings where spectacular through the whole spectrum of the meal with the wines refracting the flavors of the 7 courses. Our personal Sommelier was the icing on the cake for my date as she had never experienced such attention or service! To me it is George Rex! That's why I left a 20% Tip for the Staff. It was a super successful night I might add and George's had a lot to do with it as I am usually perceived as getting my culture from Yogurt, However; George's made me look like a connaisseur!!!!!"

  • "My wife and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary at George and we couldn't be happier with the experience. The service was impeccable, with just the right level of attentiveness and the food was complex and wonderful. If I can offer any advice to others, it would be to masticate. The food is so lovely that some of the more voracious eaters out there might be tempted to Hoover their meals down, but if you take your time and savour every bite with even a small fraction of the care that was put into your meal, you'll be rewarded with some lovely flavours."

  • "Our waiter was extremely busy, but still found the time to cater to our whims. The food was incredible. The fois gras melted in our mouths. Don't be in a rush as you want to enjoy the full experience. A 7 course tasting menu can take up to 3 hours and since it is ordered as a table (and two of us got different items prepared) we got to enjoy 14 varieties of meal. What a pleasant surprise. Great for special occasions and celebration. Ask for a table by the kitchen if you want to see your chefs in action."

  • "After a sharing plate to start (a light crab dish) each of us was presented a different second and fourth course dish along the way ... Second course was Chef's award-winning Gold Medal Plate tuna dish which I had tasted previously (yum) and a tasty cod dish. Third, each of us received a nice pea soup with some chicken dumplings in the middle to put in the soup - nice touch. 4th course - I was presented with the Bison and my wife, the Rib-Eye. Both were perfectly cooked, seasoned and presented. I can't choose a winner! My mouth is watering now as I write this review. And then dessert ... lemon on one side of the table and chocolate on the other. Great combination for sharing. Can't wait to return!"

  • "We recently dined at George on Valentine's Day. The restaurant was full and there was only one set menu available that night. We were given a small basket of bread at the start of our meal with nothing to put on it. No butter, olive oil, etc. We understand that the restaurant probably assumed we would enjoy the bread without any extra garnishes, but when we kindly requested something for the bread (at least some olive oil and vinegar), we had to ask three different servers and wait nearly 20 minutes before we finally received something for our bread. It just seems a bit much, considering how good this place is supposed to be and how simple our request was. Otherwise our meal and experience were fine."

  • "George continues to be one of my favourite places to eat in Toronto. The food is probably the best there is in the city, and the service is excellent. I love the five course tasting menu, where everyone gets what the chef decides to deliver - reminds me of L'Astrance in Paris where we ate before Chrismas - both on my list of where to eat again restaurants. Take your favourite flame to George and have a great evening!"

  • "This place is exceptional dining at it's best. We are located very close to this restaurant and we bring clients there on a regular basis. We have never been disappointed. Professional staff and wonderful chef. Go here if you want a unique exceptional dining experience. Bring clients or your wife, this restaurant is perfect for business or a romantic dinner. Go to their patio in the back if you are going in the summer; very beautiful."

  • "We went to the George for my daughters 21st birthday. She is a vegetarian and she had a wonderful choice of vegetarian options. The food is amazing. We went for the ala carte menu where they have a first course which includes about 4 choices, a 2nd course which included 4 options and a third course which included 4 options as well. Everything was beautifully presented and prepared, Amazing! They also do a tasting menu- 5 courses for $90. It was an expensive meal for 6 people but worth it for a special occasion - with wine it was around $80 per person. Really lovely meal."

  • "Service was excellent very pleasant but it took them a long time to deliver our drinks. They ran out of fruit juices. Food was good but I did not like the tuna. For dessert, the pumpkin tart was excellent but the lemon square was much to tart for my taste."
