The best part is each person gets a different dish for each course so we were able to try 10 different dishes. Our server was Phil and he was very friendly, polite and helpful from the moment we sat down until the time we left. Understanding that it was our first time dining at George, he took the time to walk us through the drinks menu as well as the food menu. We decided on the 5 course tasting and each dish was outstanding. The plating was beautiful and the portions were very generous. By the end of the night, we were full and satisfied (but not stuffed!).
This is definitely a place I would recommend for a romantic, special occassion! We had the 7 course tasting menu which we found to be more than enough food by the end of dinner. We didn't do the full wine pairing but instead opted to have the dinner paired with two recommended glasses of wine.
The place was quite busy for a Friday night. We were seated right away and the service overall was attentive and great. I would say the food was great but not outstanding. Don't get me wrong, I thought the overall experience was great and we really enjoyed the food. The dishes were wonderful in their complexities and the sommelier gave a brief overview of each wine and why each was selected to be paired with each dish. We had expected to be experiencing the same dishes and wines to compare and discuss, but no two dishes or two wines were the same the entire evening - each of us had a completely unique experience! A big part of the thrill was not knowing what was coming next, as there was little/no intersection between the tasting dishes and the regular menu. Either we go to a regular omni restaurant, and I end up with
a veggie burger or salad, or we go to a veg restaurant, and my husband ends up eating something he is less than thrilled with. George has a great vegetarian menu, and they were very accommodating and able to make whatever I wanted vegan. It was so nice to have a selection to choose from, rather than just be stuck with one option. And my husband enjoyed what he said was one of the best omni meals he's had. The wine pairings were exquisite. My only remark would be that I wished my glass got a little bit more wine with each course. I would recommend not saying no to the foie grass when offered, it was divine! Both of us ordered the 7-course tasting menu with wine pairings. Each course had different dishes so that we could appreciate both dishes. The wine pairing were perfect and the staff took the time to explain the history for each one. They were perfectly paired in my opinion. I loved the sherry! We couldn't have picked a more perfect place and setting. The kitchen is open so one can view everything. Kudos to the chefs and staff for their delicious dishes and quick service. The restaurant is very well organized and efficient. Having just returned from the Niagra Wine region, I wanted a place that did wine and food pairings. We were seated in a nice quieter part of the restaurant at a great round table. Our waiter was very attentive without being intrusive and even brought us a complimentary plate of cookies at the end of the meal. We usually select and enjoy the chef's tasting menu since it takes away the need to limit yourself to a known item as shown on most dining menus.
