A word from George Restaurant
Executive Chef Loseto’s innovative "Toronto Cuisine" is devoted to seasonal, natural, local, and sustainable food from the city’s markets. “This means that the food is inspired not only by the seasons, but also the variety of products available from many different cultures around the world,” says Loseto. This principle of fresh and eclectic variety is brought to the tables of our patrons at George.

Guests are encouraged to order from a five, seven, or ten course tasting menu in order to fully explore the bold flavours and textures of Chef Loseto’s cooking. Wine pairings carefully selected by the sommelier team are a wonderful addition to the tasting experience. The wine program is focused on quality, sustainability and terroir. Wines are sourced from small suppliers with a focus on unique appellations and varietals. At the table, one of our five sommeliers will ensure selections are perfectly paired with the unique cuisine.

Diner Reviews
  • "We went to the George for our anniversary. The food, atmosphere, service were excellent."

  • "Returned to George for lunch this week - outdoors on the patio. Superb as usual. Food was excellent, as was the service. The quiet back patio tucked between heritage buildings is absolutely lovely!"

  • "The chef is clearly creative but perhaps a bit to much so. I ordered the cornish hen and what was presented looked more like a custard flan, the meat was ground up and made into this little flan like item. My wife ordered the lobster and again while very tasty you wouldn't have guessed lobster if placed in front of you. Their deal is small plates that you share, everything tasted very good and the service was very nice. Each dish is appetizer size portions and they offer a tastings menu where they bring you either 5, 7 or 10 courses. Fun if you want to spend an entire evening dining but not really what we had in mind and quite pricey. If you do the full dining experience you could easily spend $200 per person."

  • "Had the 7-course tasting menu for two; very good in finding dishes that met my food restrictions, and presented some beautiful dishes that were as good as the "normal" ones. Beautiful table on the back patio, with water features to create a little white noise between tables."

  • "Service was outstanding. Kudos to our server and the chefs."

  • "We had a lovely "date night" at Georges. We enjoyed the 5 course dinner which was a feast for the tastebuds and the eyes. We also enjoyed the suspense of not knowing what dish would arrive next and every dish was different so hubby and i would share each others course so that we were able to taste 10 dishes in all. The waiter was a touch soft-spoken which made it hard to hear his descriptions of the food, but he was very attentive. Overall I would say the food is a touch overpriced, but the chef does have interesting and inventive ideas."

  • "We tend to go to George for big occasions, anniversaries, birthdays, business celebrations - the only mistake with this is that we don't go to George often enough. If you are looking for perfect service, perfect food, impressive wine list, tasting menues that are best in town, served in a professional yet lovely room with a reasonable noise level that allows you to actually have a conversation - you can't do better. Loved it, again, we believe this is our 8th time at George and they are batting a perfect 1000 so far."

  • "Do the 5 or 7 course meal. Let the chef show you what food artistry with the freshest ingredients and honest preparations is all about. Excellent wine list to go with the food. Get a vintage 2007 or earlier and be treated to best ever dining experience."

  • "Me and hubby celebrated our 29th anniversary. It was wonderful and perfect to enjoy this special dinner with wine pairing at George. The food, ambiance, service was impeccable...outstanding!!"
    Dined on 7/12/2014
  • "Amazing service and food! I highly recommend the tasting plate with wine pairings. It's pricey but worth it. The sommelier is fantastic. Definitely a good pick for a special occasion."

  • "A gem in an old warehouse on Queen East. I have been there several times and find George consistently excellent. The outdoor patio is lovely. The service is friendly and helpful. The food is imaginative and the servings are a sensible size for lunch. A delightful experience."

  • "We had dinner at George Restaurant on July 10, 2014. The experience was absolutely tremendous, a true gourmet's delight. We opted for three dishes offered from the weekly menu (they also do a chef's tasting menu), consisting of relatively modest, though very delicious, portions created by the chef. In fact, we enjoyed our experience at George so much that evening that we made a reservation to return for dinner the next day! It was another excellent experience. Our servers each evening (Ian on July 10 and Rob on July 11) were also great and very knowledgeable and accommodating to our wishes. Overall a wonderful dining experience!"

  • "This must be one of the best restaurants in Toronto at this time. We had the tasting menu and each dish was artful, inventive, and sophisticated."

  • "I don't normally write reviews, but I feel obligated to tell you how unbelievable George's was. The 5 course meal was simply amazing. Best food I've ever had. The chef is an artist. Unforgettable experience."

  • "My husband and I went to George to celebrate my husbands birthday. The whole experience was wonderful. We had the 7 course tasting menu and each dish had amazing flavours. Because we both did the tasting menu, we got two completely different tasting Menus. So we tried 14 dishes altogether. The portions are small but we were very full by the end of the 7 dishes. This was a very expensive meal and will only return for special occasions."

  • "Solid restaurant, but aims for foodies and misses with a number of missteps. The patio is stunning though."
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "We were looking for a place to have dinner which was in close proximity to Massey Hall and we found a gem! The service, the food and the ambience were perfect. Will definitely add George to our list of favourite restaurants."
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "Great ambience, very prompt and carong service. Food-wise, the ingredients are first rate, unfortunately they're a bit messed up in some dishes: too much effort in adding strong side-ingredients which sometimes overturn the taste of the main ingredient (e.g., if you have a gorgeous scallop you cant be left with a strong pepper-ginger-coriander final taste). Perhaps we're a bit too foody from the old world (Spain and its new wave)... Nevertheless it was a very pleasant experience."
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "Don't be concerned about the proximity to the less than gentrified area. George is an oasis of the sublime - no wonder the patio area has been duly appreciated. Every bite of the carefully prepared food delights."
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "Extremely romantic restuarant with a goregous patio. Service was impeccable and the food was excellent. If you're a foodie - go for the five course tasting menu and wine pairings. You will not be disappointed."

  • "This was our second visit and it was as memorable as the first. A classy restaurant with excellent food and service and, although a little pricey, definitely worth it for that special occasion."
    Dined on 6/24/2014
  • "We had our 1st anniversary on 24-6-2014 here! We love the place a lot. They have the 5, 7 and 10 course which the chef chose the food for you. My husband is the person who never likes to go to a restaurant where he all the times has hard time to pick his food, here the chef did for us. At the end of the meal, the waitress brought us sweet dessert decorated "Happy Anniversary" by chocolate and a card, that surprised and were sweet to us. Recommend this restaurant to our friends and family!"

  • "Waiters and sommelier were so helpful. Food was amazing. Kitchen was fun to watch. We had the five course tasting menu, and it was exquisite."
    Dined on 6/24/2014
  • "Second time at George and it did not disappoint. My wife and I came here two years ago and we ordered the 5 course tasting again. Absolutely mind blowing is all I can say. My wife is 8 months pregnant and the server made sure everything was cooked enough and certain foods were not to be served to her. We actually had the same server again which was a bonus. I'm not a wine drinker so he recommended me a great red wine on go with my meal. . Everything was excellent at George yet again. Go on the patio if it's a nice night. You will not be disappointed at this favorite restaurant of ours.."

  • "5 course dinner was too much for us, even though the dishes were small. Just pick out from a regular menu.."

  • "A very fabulous evening. Everything was perfect! We had been there before and were not disappointed. It was as wonderful as before. Love this place."

  • "Be sure to try the blind tasting and wine pairing at least once!"

  • "George is in a league of its own. We celebrated my husband's birthday and George didn't disappoint. The tasting menu was an adventure and the sommelier and waiter were outstanding. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a romantic dinner or want to celebrate a special occasion with friends. Chef Lorenzo is a master!"

  • "We went to the George to assess the restaurant as a private party dining venue. The hostess, general manager, primary server and also support staff were incredibly professional and attentive throughout the evening. I read reviews about small portion sizes however, this is not at all accurate given the fixed menu that we had is set up over three courses, not including dessert. We felt the food was not only tasty, but sufficient and by the time dessert came around (incredibly chocolate mousse and a great espresso), we were stuffed! All in all we had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend the restaurant."

  • "Every detail was close to perfect. The food was colourful, each bite was interesting, often surprising, always delightful. We sat in the courtyard in the back. Flowers were in full bloom; birds sipping at the fountain. All the staff are friendly, knowledgable and helpful. It really is very difficult to find a restaurant with very piece of the food orchestra in perfect harmony, George has it."

  • "While my expectations were extremely high, I was concerned because I am such a picky eater. The waiters were overly patient and were more than happy to accommodate any food objections we had and everything was just outstanding. The 5 course dinner was quite a culinary experience. It was a fantastic evening."

  • "George is a lovely restaraunt in the city. It is lively and has a pulse, unlike other notable fine dining restaraunt in the city. It is highly recommended, but it is pricey. Luckily, the price is justified as food is delicious. The taster's menu is really fun and all of it was delicious. "

  • "Went to George for a quiet birthday dinner and it was a great decision. The tasting menu paired with the wine was delicious a great choice. Every course was a hit and the accompanying wine was great. The service was on point and what you would expect from a place like this. Definitely worth a visit. "

  • "Wife and I went to George for our 16 year Anniversary. It did not disappoint! The sommelier was knowledgeable and very helpful. We both had the 5 course dinner with wine paring. Amazing. I highly recommend!"

  • "I read several reviews of chefs and dining spots in Toronto and decided on George because of its proximity to my hotel after a long day of travel. Not only was the menu eclectic and sophisticated, but the special surprise was the outdoor patio tucked behind the building...a quiet and tranquil spot in the heart of the city. I had the five course tasting menu with wine parings...items that are NOT on the menu and come as a surprise; what fun! I would return in a heartbeat. A great place to share with your lover and/or besties!"

  • "This place was recommended to me by a sous chef and a server. It is definitely a hidden gem. Fine dining at its finest! My husband and I were celebrating our first year anniversary and we ordered the 5 course dinner paired with wine. Food was delish and service was phenomenal. Would recommend it to those who are celebrating those special occasions. We had a show to go to after dinner and was in a bit of a rush. Our server asked if we would like our last 2 courses served at the same time or to omit one, and he'll discount it. Love how they have options. Knowing we were in a rush, our server also asked if he could call a cab for us. Amazing!! Keep up the good work."

  • "Art meets food. Interesting and appealing presentations served with prompt yet unintrusive aplomb. Atmosphere is quiet enough for conversations yet has a pleasant buzz in the room sufficient to create energy. The courtyard patio is very pleasant. The water feature helps to minimize other table conversations. Each dish is small therefore it is best to choose a succession of appetizers prior the the main course. The wine list is varied and to most patrons' tastes and budget. Appropriate for working dinner or special occasions. "

  • "The food here was really very good indeed, and the service very attentive. Our only complaint was the incredibly slow pace at which the food came out. We went in famished, but after an hour and a half we had had only the amuse bouche and cold starter (5-course menu), so kept asking for more bread. Once we got to the hot starter things moved along a little more briskly, but >3h for a 5 course meal was way too long, and really did detract from our experience (presumably not the intent). We wondered whether, had we chosen the 10-course meal we would still have been there in the wee hours of the morning despite our early start to the meal. A pity as the quality of the food would make it very easy to put on our "regular places to eat" list. "
