Strip Steak is situated in a turn of the century house in Great River, a
stone's throw away from the Great South Bay. The sophisticated, rich
design is vibrant yet intimate with an art deco style that mirrors the 1920's,
which is evident in the period artwork as well as existing architectural
amenities.

  • "We went there for my birthday and had a great time. We really enjoyed the Cowboy Ribeye with the mushroom risotto. Also had the mac n cheese with the lobster and the sweet potato wedges were amazing. They feature specialty drinks that were really good as well. The service was impeccable. They also had a live performer singing and it was a bit loud but nice. It was hard to have a conversation over the music."

  • "The food & service are exceptional. Excellent calamari, overdressed but tasty chopped salad, great potato & a fine steak cooked & seasoned perfectly. But steak eaters like good red wines and Strip Steak doesn't have any good reds at a fair price. We ordered a Banfi Chianti Riserva, and they initially tried to pass off a $15 Banfi Classico as the $48 Riserva. We rejected it and ordered a wine "listed" as a Super Tuscan, but it was NOT a Super Tuscan; it was merely a cheesy red table wine from Tuscany. The person ordering & pricing the wines is clueless. Every steakhouse needs some good reds priced $40 to $60. It's obscene to charge 3x retail for wine. Melinda, our server, was 5 stars. Danielle, the hostess, was gracious."

  • "On Saturday evening they had a 2 man band that was incredibly LOUD! They didn't need amplification, but had microphones and the noise made it impossiible to have a conversation. Also, our entrees took a very long time to appear(35 minutes). The food was excellent, with only one glitch; the skirt steak was overcooked when ordered medium."

  • "I am a fan of this place. The food is outstanding, the ambiance is terrific (they play great music if you are a 60s/70's rock fan. No doubt that Strip Steak serves the best steaks in the area. Blows away Tellers. They have to get a handle on service though. It is mediocre at best. Hostess and bartender don't make you feel welcome at this place, unless you happen to be one of the clique of regulars who must hang at the bar several nights a week. We had a waitress the other night that was, in a word, rude."

  • "Our first time there, we went for my birthday. Nice ambiance and bar. Service was very good. Shared the Porterhouse and some sides. My wife mentioned to the server it was my birthday and they brought dessert over with a candle in it, and they gave it to us on the house. (Nice touch) We will defiantly go back again."

  • "Hubby, son and I dined here for L.I. Rest. Wk. Website promoting event (not the restaurant's website) did not state that dinner cutoff is 7:00 pm. Our res was for 8:30 pm-we dined anyway and so glad we did. Restaurant is in an old Victorian house in a scenic and charming area. Main dining area on the noisy side (not unusual for a Sat. night at any restaurant, though). Maitre'd was observant and noticed we were a bit uneasy with the noise and moved us to a quieter spot. Kudos to her attentiveness. Son had mac n cheese, hubs had linguine/lobster/shrimp and I had chef's reserve and mashed. Excellent---excellent. Service was phenomenal . Our waitress was fantastic, accommodating and on point. Highly recommend and will definitely return."

Being that this location is a STEAK house, it was pretty disappointing that all 4 of our steaks were not cooked to temperature. We ordered the mashed potatoes that were the worst I've ever had in a restaurant. They lacked great flavor or creaminess (I mean, it should at least be creamy, right?). The chili shrimp appetizer were really good, but not impressive. I would go back for cocktails. My husband loved his spicy dirty martini. The bartender muddled a jalapeno for the drink. "

  • "This was our third time at this restaurant. We brought another couple with us during Restaurant Week and we got to chose from the regular menu and two different Restaurant Week menus ($29.99 or $49.99). We went with the $49.99 menu, which included 3 courses. We all had Delmonico steak and they were perfectly cooked as per our requests (i.e., well done, medium, medium rare). The GM specialty salad was absolutely delicious but very filling as it was quite large. There were 3 or 4 dessert choices to chose from; however, we all chose the apple turnover with cinnamon ice cream. No one was disappointed! We and our friends will definitely make another return trip with more friends and for special/romantic occasions."
