The service by our waiter was great, but the bartender had no interest in helping us. The wine list leaves a lot to be desired. The food is solid, though rarely inspiring. A solid neighborhood restaurant.

Four of us ate dinner at George Martins the Original. Pleasant atmosphere and good service. Filet Mignon: very good but not great Chicken; not as good as it should have been given the cost. Entree salad: pretty good, fresh, enjoyable. appetizer salad: for $8 a rip-off. shrimp appetizer: good flavor but breading etc too greasy. this would be great if shrimp were grilled, not deep fried, with the same sauce. Overall: too expensive for the quality of food. We have been to GM before, quality varies...

Unfortunately there was a cockroach crawling on our appetizer lobster veggie eggrolls. This has ruined my appetite for ever eating at George Martin again. Maybe for drinks but no more food. I used to eat here once a month. The waitress was kind enough to bring us our another appetizer which no one touched. Perhaps they should get an exterminator.

Aside from a very strange onion soup (tomato based instead of the usual beef based) the food was very good. We especially liked the calamari, the lobster eggroll and the seared tuna roll. Desserts were great! Loved the brownie sundae, the strawberries with chocolate fondue and the key lime parfait. We highly recommend George Martin and will definitely return.

Although our food and service were great as usual, we were there on Monday which happened to be about 100 degrees outside. It would have been nice when they called to confirm the reservation if we had been told that the air conditioning was not working. The food was great but we rushed through the whole meal just so we could get out of there ASAP. We were celebrating a birthday and ended up going somewhere else for dessert because it was unbearable.

lovely appetizers, very good entrees, generous portions. Brownie chocolate sundae did not live up to its name (dry, not enough sauce), but apple strudel excellent. Due to our proximity to the bar, the noise level was high. Warm, attentive service. This was a great choice for celebrating my son's graduation.

Was seated in the upstairs dining room. Started out as quiet dinner but eventually got noisy as some large boisterous parties were seated. Dinner was exceptional. Service was great. I do have a knee problem and was not asked if I had a problem being seated upstairs. That having been said, I wish there was an upstairs lavatory so that going down the stairs to the lavatory was not the only choice available.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2007
    Dined on 4/25/2008
To begin, even though we made reservations, we had to wait a half hour. Not a good start. Then we ordered a 2005 Pinot Noir for $35 (off of the wine list) but when it arrived it was a 2007. The explanation was "sorry, the wine list is out dated." Oddly enough, the prices were correct b/c the charge was $35. The food was excellent. The lobster bisque is light but very distinct, while the crab cakes are exquisitely cooked. I have reviewed restaurants for other sites, and GM had the best cooked steak I have had in over year. Overall, it is loud, but if you have time to wait and aren't picky about price ($$$$$), this restaurant is a good Friday or Saturday evening and worth the wait.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 4/19/2008
I thought the food was tasty and what I would expect from a "steakhouse", with ample portions for the price. The crab rangoon appetizer was delicious, but could have included an additional piece. My au poivre shell was flavorful and cooked exactly to my liking, but should have been offered as a better cut such as a filet. The staff was competent, attentive, friendly and accomodating. My Martinis were well prepared and much to my liking. I would definitely dine at George Martin again without hesitation. My only complaint is that a new spring/summer menu was now out and their website had not yet been updated. My wife and I had two dishes already on our mind and were disappointed when they were no longer available.

Hadn't been to the original George Martin in a couple of years and it has changed. The food used to be excellent and this time it was medicore at best. Greasy, not presented well, and not prepared well. The noise was terrible as we, a table of 4 adults, were stuck (with reservations) in the "kids room". I don't know if I would go back and I am a resident of RVC. What happened to this wonderful restaurant?

FOOD WAS VERY GOOD. WE WERE THERE ON A FRIDAY NIGHT, AND THE NOISE LEVEL WAS WAY TOO LOUD. YOU COULDN'T HEAR WHAT THE PEOPLE AT YOUR OWN TABLE WERE SAYING MOST OF THE TIME. SERVICE WAS AVERAGE. IT WOULD ALSO BE NICE IF THEY HAD RED WINE GLASSES RATHER THAN THE SMALL GLASS THEY CALL A WINE GLASS. I ALSO WAS THERE ON A MONDAY AND A WEDNESDAY NIGHT AT ABOUT 830PM AND IT WAS A DIFFERENT RESTAURANT. NOT AS CROWDED AND NOT NOISY AT ALL. ON ALL THREE OCCASIONS THE SERVER LEFT THE CHECK AND MUST OF THUGHT THAT WAS IT. I HAD TO GET A HOSTESS TO TAKE THE CHECK AND MY CREDIT CARD SO I COULD PAY AND LEAVE.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The filet mignon is always delicious! Had a delicious white bordeaux. I love that they serve biscotti with the espresso. I think they should also serve a simple, small helping of vegetables (example: string beans & julienned carrots) with the meal, not only for a more healthy meal but it also looks nice. In addition, the small plate of olives and spread should be larger for a table of 4. Great place; we enjoy it!
