Healthy food should not be Bland and Boring. Genovese had great reviews and we expected to write more of the same. The dinner bread held promise moist and enjoyable but the white bean spread it was served with was very bland. We did request butter but were told they didn't have any. The waitress was polite and efficient and sold us on the Sangria, being the house special we were surprised when it tasted watered down. Now for the salads unfortunately spinach salad should consist of more than one strawberry sliced with unflavored oil on top. We were hoping the main course would save the day. Fair is the assessment of the Gnocchi, they did split the Gnocchi plate. Asked if we wanted desert, no thank you. Wrong night, maybe.

The food was good! 5 of us visited Genevese with an early reservation of 5:30. They seated us at the table settings by the front windows which has absolutely no ambiance. They filled this small room with 4 other tables, when the top floor was closed. When the outdoor street lamp turned on it flooded the room with hard, bright lightening which further diminished the ambiance. Every group that walked into this area looked at each other when they entered the room, all wondering if they should asked to be seated elsewhere. I would recommend that the proprietors should consider the client experience over their own service convenience. I would have preferred they gave us elbow room and more privacy and ambiance upstairs.

We went to Genovese for a romantic Valentine's Day dinner, and they did not disappoint. Excellent food and service. For example, their baby spinach, feta, and strawberry salad...well, there is no way to describe it without invoking religious concepts. Enjoyed the evening thoroughly.
