It was 6:00pm, 87 degrees ouside, even hotter inside. We were assured the air conditioner would remedy this. It never did. Others came and left, which we should have done. Ceasar salad lettuce was warm and we were told that it was because it was hot in the kitchen...apparently just like the dining room. The lettuce was cut into shreds unlike a traditional Ceasar...unappetizing. The one server was exceptionally pleasant and accomodating but still charged us $26 for the awful Cesar. The balance of the meal was mediocre at best. We took home a teramisu which was wonderful the next day.

The restaurant had 1 server for the entire service. He was trying very hard, but all dishes were late and food was cold by the time it reached our table. It took almost 25 minutes just to get our bill! Gennaro's use to be such a great restaurant. I don't think I'll be going back any time soon.

My husband and I did not have a good time. It started with our reservation being given away to someone impersonating us; then to a calamari appetizer that was not seasoned properly, nor crispy; and finally to an entree that took over an hour to reach our table. Our reservation was at 6:45 pm and our entrees hit our table at 8:20 pm. My pan seared scallops were seasoned well and tender; but unfortunately, there was no good sear on it. I gave up on dessert. The service staff was very nice. Our server apologized for the wait. But overall, we will not be going back.

Never had darkened the door at Gennaro's - but since our first choice was booked, we took a flyer based on reviews. What a pleasant surprise! A very unrushed, quality food and excellent service. Nice touch was the red rose for all the ladies present. We would definitely return.

On a Saturday night at 8, this restaurant was nearly empty. For the price point, the food and house wine were merely OK, but the service was attentive and pleasant. we enjoyed the live piano music, but that stopped at 9.

A very nice, smart, sophisticated room with high end table ware. Tiffany our Maitre'd, Hostess, Bar tender, and Server was well informed and willing to please and asked all the right questions. Soothing music, a comfortable romantic place. The food though was nothing special, good solid Italian dishes, not fancy, just OK presentations, each plate was priced a bit too high for what you get. The vegetables in the minestrone were all chopped to the same small size so there was no change in texture, just a so-so soup, needed a lot of Parmesian. Our entrees were just OK, the chicken in my Chicken Marsala was over cooked and dried out, but my lady friend enjoyed her ravioli. Everything is a-la-carte, so bring a card with a high limit.

Was a very nice experience. Took my wife here for her birthday. A little abandoned at 6:30 pm on a Friday night, but the food was very good. My medium steak was a bit too medium-rare, but it was still very tender and enjoyable. My wife had an excellent seafood dish consisting of grilled lobster, shrimp, and scallops. We look forward to going again. Only downside was the parking. They do have a little parking lot in the back, but seemed really cramped.

Definitely a HIDDEN gem in Glendale! Location is super important in the restaurant game, and Gennaro's is a little off the beaten path. It was super quiet on a Saturday night, and that is a shame as the food is delicious. We tried to make a reservation at another Italian place in Toluca Lake but they were full. Too bad for them, we have found a new favorite in the valley. A piano player kept us entertained throughout the evening and service was very good. If you've never been, make it a point. You won't be disappointed.

This is a wonderful place for a business lunch as well as a meeting with friends. The food is good (Chicken Caesar salad is prepared at your table) and there are always delicious specials.

    Dined on 5/31/2013
The server was efficient; piano music was great (I would return just to listen); however, the food was somewhat of a non event -- It's at the level of Norm's or Denny's. They either need to bring down their prices to match the current level of food, or add some creativity to the preparation and presentation to charge their prices. The restaurant decor was not bad, just tired looking. There aren't enough places with a grand piano and a talented pianist, and I would love to see this place succeed.

What happened to Gennaro's? The music was way too loud, the pasta was something that looked like they purchased from the Olive Garden down the boulevard. And half our party woke up in the middle of the night blessing the god of the porcelain rim. But we had each others company and great memories of the past so it was a good evening.

Enjoyed our time tremendously. Service was outstanding and we were not rushed at all. Loved the mushroom soup-glad to see something else other than clam chowder for Friday; the Ruffino Chianti Reserve went well with the ravioli's my wife had and the chicken/shrimp I had which were both very tasty. Had the home made tiramisu for dessert which I also enjoyed very much. Will come back again- had not been there for many years. Best Italian restaurant in Glendale. Not cheap but worth the price and experience.

The restaurant works hard to be a fine dining Italian restaurant. However, the decor is dated with padded wallpaper fabric walls and fake plants and floral artwork throughout. The best part of this meal is the bruschetta which isn't even on the menu - it's an item they bring out compliments of the house. I did really enjoy the live piano playing. It made the quiet of the restaurant a little easier to bear. I would say with an inexpensive update to the decor and more distinct food, this place could be a wonderful place to dine. North Glendale is missing a fine dining establishment and the service here definitely makes you feel special.

We just discovered this gem of a restaurant, now under new ownership, with the beloved former chef hired back to do the deeds in the kitchen. This is a lovely and quiet restaurant, with very attentive and friendly service--our wish was their command. Pasta dishes are homemade, rich in taste, and very generous in size. Our Caesar salad was prepared for us at our table! There is no question that we will make return visits. The newly designed menu will appear in mid-July.
