  • "After coming to the Chop House for many years we had heard the food quality had taken a turn for the worse so decided to see for ourselves. The rumors were right. They couldn't get anything right from the tonic in the drinks that tasted like soda to the prime rib that had been reheated to the Luke warm double baked. Stay away till they get this fixed as they clearly have big issues inn the kitchen. On a side note the usually pristine gardens were littered with weeds and bare spots. Very out of character for Grand Geneva."

  • "It seems that the Geneva Chophouse should be a great restaurant. However, I did not experience this during my visit. My family and I dined at the same time as a large party, and our service and dining experience suffered as a result. We waited an hour for our entrees, most of our food arrived cold, our steak and seafood were overcooked, and our server disappeared for long periods of time. We were told we got "caught behind a large party", but no apologies (or anything else) were offered in consolation. Very disappointing. On the flip side, my kids were fascinated by the chef cooking the steaks (the kitchen is open to the dining room and can be viewed by pratons). He provided them great entertainment during our long wait."

  • "Our waiter forgot about us prior to the main course. Other service representatives picked up the slack very well regarding all of our needs. We figured he was hired for the summer and somewhat inexperienced even though he tried to portray otherwise as we conversed with him regarding the food dishes, wine, applying gift certificates. Overall we were very pleased."

  • "We have honestly never had a bad experience at Geneva Chophouse. The staff, the food...everything is top notch! The filets were cooked as ordered, our trio of sides (lobster mac & cheese, loaded baked potato & mashed potatoes) were delicious. Excellent wine selection. The Korean beef lettuce wraps were a good appetizer choice. Our server surprised us with a special birthday/anniversary dessert to cap off the evening. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "This was our second visit. The steak, unlike the first visit, was dried out and had visible black singes. NY strip is among the most flavorful steaks around. This time, it lacked flavor. Very disappointing, especially given the price. The shrimp entree was soupy and not nearly as succulent as shrimp can be. The wedge salad was perfect. The service was great. The view is great. Salads and service, however, can not make up for food that can only be described as "good.""

  • "Had a table by the window overlooking lake which was best part of experience. Our waitress was very friendly, and she had a large party at another table but she barely ever checked back, especially in the beginning to see if we wanted more drinks. Food was good but not great for the price, although the clam chowder was best any of us had ever had. One person in our party ordered a $45+ ribeye special and the steak was tough and full of gristle. They were offered a different steak or a salad ?? instead, which was kind of weird, but did provide free dessert. Glad that was free too, molten chocolate cake was tiny and sure not worth $10 menu price! Food was warm, not hot. Would consider going back but for lunch or brunch, probably not dinner."

  • "VERY DISSAPOINTING! 30 mins went by before anyone even came over to our table to bring us water! Soon after we were asked if we would like a cocktail.. Another 20 mins went by we were offered some plain dinner rolls.. now going on 1 hour and we hadn't ordered yet.. Around 10 mins later our waitress shows up with my wine, and husbands cocktail so I asked her if we could order.. 3 steaks and a salmon.. With 3 sides.. Then we waited, and waited.. Another 45 mins. Only one problem We used our butter knifes and the bread server came by and took all our utensils away.. No forks! So now our food finally is there but we can't eat yet.. Grrrrrrrrr I ordered med rare, my steak was way over cooked & had no flavor! So I sent it back and waited 40"

  • "Difficult to find - no signs leading you to it. You have to go the hotel itself and walk into the building and ask where it is. I wish I was kidding - not a single indicator from the road or even on the complex, we had to call. The dry aged ribeye was chewy, but the filet mignon was AMAZING. The twice baked potato was AMAZING, the creamed spinach was horrendous. Very few wines by the glass? I like A glass of wine with dinner, not a bottle, but I'm not everyone. Service was great! Tuna appetizer was great! We'll try it again and avoid the dry aged and the spinach."

  • "Another great meal at the Chophouse. Service is always good with an attentive staff and good wine list. I was seated immediately and staff was right there to begin my dining experience. I always eat here when I'm in Lake Geneva. They also have a nice bar area in the lobby for an after dinner drink/meeting place. Give it a try!!!!"

  • "My wife and I have been here many times before over the weekend and the food was always cooked perfectly. However, this last trip we went on a Sunday. I order the veal rack, she ordered the filet and we split a loaded baked potato and a salad. Both steaks were overcooked (wanted medium) and the potato tasted like it was cooked yesterday and warmed up. They offered to recook the steaks, but I feel you have one chance to get it right and didn't want to wait. Service was excellent, outdoor eating was perfect and the wine list is plentiful."

  • "Always one of my favorite local spots. Ambiance is always great here but the food was horrible. I chose a steak since I was in the Chophouse. Bone-in ribeye was nearly inedible. Very tough and difficult to eat. Presentation was poor and did not even look like a ribeye. Sides were equally ill prepared. Waitress brought complimentary champagne when she discovered it was my wife and my anniversary. She just brought it to the table which was a nice gesture but I don't really care for champagne and I would have preferred that she inquire first. Ditto for the complimentary dessert."

  • "Recently my wife and I had dinner to celebrate our anniversary. The server was very helpful and thoughtful and even asked if this was a special occasion. When we told her about our anniversary my wife received a red rose and we were given a complimentary dessert. I ordered a 16 oz. NY strip steak and it was prepared perfectly. My wife ordered the grilled salmon and it was delicious as well. The side dishes are large and the server recommended ordering one and splitting it which we did. It was the right choice. Excellent food, great service in a beautiful setting!"

  • "This was one of if not the worst dining we have experienced in years. The service was slow and poor. We waited over 40 minutes from when we ordered our entries until they came--even though we did not order appetizers, soups or salads. During that wait time the server never check in with us to explain why. When the food arrived it was cold (not lukewarm-cold) . The steaks were over cooked, tough and cold. The reduction sauce on my bone in rib eye was so filled with salt that I couldn't taste anything but the salt. I sent my entree back and had them take it off our bill. I watched as numerous other people were returning their meals, too. Don't order the side trio--it is a waste of your money because the portions are so small."

  • "Our salads (particularly love the Chophouse salad) were perfectly chilled and delicious. I ordered my filet au poivre (medium well but it was well done) and our server, Wesley suggested an addition of truffle butter. That truly made all the difference in overlooking the well cooked steak-an amazing accompaniment. My husband was a bit disappointed w/his lobster tail in that it was small. Our side of lobster mac and cheese was good but barely luke-warm. Overall the food could have been better this time around. We've had outstanding food in the past and I felt that on this visit, the food could have been warmer/hotter/better overall. Still a very good experience-Wesley was outstanding!"

  • "My husband and I traveled from Milwaukee to Lake Geneva for our anniversary. I've been to the Geneva Chophouse and was so excited to take him to a romantic dinner w/an amazing view. We were not disappointed! I don't know if it was b/c of the way we were dressed or that I pre-asked for a window seat but the hostess asked us if we were celebrating anything special. I was at a loss for words b/c I didn't expect it, but my husband said yes, we're celebrating our 5th anniversary! They sat us at a romantic table w/rose petals strewn about, a rose and champagne flutes for a toast. The meal was to die for and then they brought dessert. Neither of us had room, but it was so delicious that we scarfed it up. We will be back time and time again!"

We decided on the trio of sides which includes a smaller portion of your three choices. It was plenty for the two of us.
