Our party of three did not know what to expect. Wow!... were we surprised. The ceviche and queso fundido were both wonderful appetizers. The Shrimp Patron and Swordfish Kebob were both excellent for entrees. Our third diner said the Taco Salad was as good as a taco salad is expected to be. Will eat here again! Really tasty.

Guacamole very good. Seafood enchiladas disappointing: overcooked, dull, dry, tasteless. Seafood salad mediocre.

was hoping it was more like the original genaro's from years ago, which was awesome. we were the only couple there on a saturday, yet the service still was very slow. finally 3 other couples showed up. the food wasn't bad, it just wasn't special. i wouldn't make a special trip to go there. and don't plan to go back.

We had a large party of 12 for a birthday party. The service was excellent- our waiter was so friendly. We also got to meet the chef! We got a special drink and a piece of cake from the staff for the birthday celebration. Food was very tasty, drinks/cocktails were amazing. Location makes it hard to see from the street, but, so happy I found this place. Can't believe I haven't been here before.

Unusual "Mexican" menu but outstanding special the night we were there. Very good service! Enthusiastic servers, though at times a little confusing to understand who was assigned to your table.

This new resteraunt is a great addition to the neighborhood. The food is delicious. On the night we were there it was a little slow, and the chef came out and talked to us about the food we ordered because I was worried about the spice level of the dish. The chef brought out some new sauces he has has been working on and let me choose which one I thought would work well. The spice level ended up being a non issue, and the thought and attention they gave us was great. If you went when they first opened, they have tweaked the menu, so go back. You have to love a resteraunt that is willing to serve great foodie menu items, and then keeps fine tuning them. I give it 4 stars.

Genaro is back! Newly opened this year and will quickly be tops on everyone's list! Loved the seared scallop appetizer!! Must try the snapper entrée too!! Made to order guacamole was excellent and served with little black bean pockets...can't remember their name...fabulous!! The Habanero Margarita was perfect...had to have two!! Desserts to try - Tres Leches and Queso Napolitano - both delicious! Our server Gina was the best and most attentive! Chef Rene has a magic touch! Looking forward to going back to try the lamb shanks, seafood enchiladas...too many interesting offerings to list!

We made a reservation sight unseen because it is close to where our son lives. We drove from out of town, almost no one at restaurant at 1230 which is a bad sign. The food was on par with TV dinner Mexican food and my wife and I had stomach problems the next day. This is the first time I have ever given a bad review to an Open Table restaurant. We will not be back.

genaro's is so cool! you feel like you are in a new york bar, a tropical bar in miami but in lakewood at hillside village shopping center? it is a neighborhood gem, it is a section of dallas jewel and a destination for foodies who want to try genaro's really great menu.

Our group enjoyed the atmosphere, though it was a little chilly at our table with the A/C cranked. Guacamole was good and loved the blackbean-filled tostadas that accompanied it. Sour cream enchiladas were too bland, but everyone else loved their entrees. Habanero sauce with pulled pork was smokin' hot, but complimented the pork nicely. Large patio looked very inviting for when the weather improves.

You can definitely tell this place is brand new. The food was good but they need to work on their service if they plan on making it. My boyfriend and I were seated immediately and were being taken care of by a manager (I think...he was older and not in uniform). Things started off good but quickly went south. The stuff seemed frazzled and there were server people either complaining or leaving for having to wait to long to be served. Our server was a poor example of leadership if he was in management. He didn't come back to check on us, we sat and watched our drink at the bar for 5-10 minutes and at the end of our dinner he just seemed wore out and didn't even say thank you. This place had potential but need a lot of work.

My husband & I went to eat at Genaro's on a Friday night at 8:45. I would say that only about 2/3 of the tables were occupied. The service was extremely slow! Our waiter was very friendly, the cocktails were good & our food was great, but I don't know if we will go back due to the service. It took over an hour for us to get our ceviche appetizer & at least another 40 minutes to get our entrees. The owner came over & introduced himself at one point, but he didn't seem too interested in all of the tables waiting for their food. He just danced & chatted with people at the bar & didn't realize what was going on with his customers.

I have been for lunch and the services was great and extremely fast. The menu is fresh and new, the food great. but, think twice before going on a special occasion. We waited over 1.5 hours for our food. The food ticket was lost, the waiter felt terrible, but maybe they should have had a set menu for V day? Luckily, we were not in a rush. We will go back for lunch!

Genaro's opened in late 2013, much to the delight of those of us who appreciate fine Mexican cuisine. They offer a lovely spin on paella replacing the rice with fettucini noodles. You won't find a more perfect scallop dish, either. A place to be seen on the patio during the warmer months.

Had my second visit at this restaurant. The first was a small dinner party (3 of us) and everything was fantastic: the food, the service, the ambiance. The second visit was a large dinner party (16) and, again, everything was fantastic! The size of the party didn't diminish the service or the food, our meals were served up nice and hot by the very pleasant service staff. Love this place!!

Obviously an unusually busy time for them, but service was very mediocre. Several people around us had troubles and one couple walked out. Brought me the same drink twice, never brought another. Just generally confused in service. Food was decent. We ordered sea bass and lobster. Sea bass sauce was kind of greasy. One lobster tail was cooked perfectly, the other not as much. Drinks we good.

  • Unfortunate Hot Mess for Lakewood

Food is ok and offers a good variety. Despite an oddly placed booth at the entrance and hidden hostess stand, it's a nice looking place with a cool patio...Music was too loud for so few people. Waited over five minutes before we saw the hostess or anyone greeted us and waited over 30 minutes for food when it was not busy at 6 pm. ...... In general, there appeared to be more managers than cooks, hostess', and waiters. Poorly operated restaurant. Very slow getting food. This is unfortunate. We were really hoping for more from Genaro's. Lakewood seriously needs a high-end or casual restaurant that is not strictly focused on Mexican food.
