  • "We booked this reservation having just seen the restaurant featured on Andrew Zimmerman's TV show. We first became aware of Graham's personality and culinary style on Masterchef. All this said, the bar was set high when we walked to the door. We were not disappointed from the moment we entered. The staff was energetic, attentive and consistent in delivering 5 star service. The ambiance in the restaurant was striking yet relaxed and pleasant and relaxing. Finally, the food was outstanding! We bout two 12 year old spring breakers along, and the cuisine managed to impress our "mature" pallets as well as captivate the girls. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone!"

  • "I thought i'd try GEB for brunch. The dish I ordered included two eggs cooked as you like them. As it turns out I like them over easy--cooked on one side, turned over briefly and moved to the plate with the yolks still soft. Every diner in America does this perfectly. Every diner. So do most home cooks. But the staff at GEB don't seem to understand. My eggs were hard. It took quite a while to get the waitress's attention. At first she was reluctant to teke them back, but eventually she did. GEB has an open kitchen, so I could see the exchange between the waitress and the cook--he clearly didn't want to make new eggs. Eventually she prevailed. New eggs arrived: one hard, the other slightly runny. Quality control GE?"

  • "Note: I had extremely high expectations since it was Graham's restaurant Best aspect: Presentation of food Worst aspect: Waitress (bored and unconcerned towards us) Food: Octopus appetizer was too salty, Milk and honey was a good substitute (Not amazing though), Cod flavors didnt work out for me so I didn't like it (sweet, bitter, oily), Salmon was good (crunchy and well cooked) Overall: Disappointed."

She wasn't able to guide us through the menu of food or wine with any kind of knowledge other than the plate size. The food was average, nothing I would come back for or recommend to a friend."

  • "We went out to celebrate a graduation and GEB did not disappoint. Our waiter recommended some delicious items and we enjoyed every course. I strongly recommend adding the fresh black truffles to something - we chose the wild boar pappardelle and it was fantastic! The wine list is decent, but by the bottle is quite pricey. Overall a fantastic experience and wonderful restaurant!"

  • "Early Fri. dinner for 3 - all different menu items & bevs. Really enjoyable meal. Space is small, busy & (alas) noisy due to hard-surfaces & loud music. wait staff, in checkered shirts (square dance?) very attentive; never "in our face". Food amazingly creative & beautifully presented. Hot & Cold appetizer plates were pricey & portions on the small size (suggested 2 w/ 1 entree each). There is also a 5-course chef's tasting available. We shared a sweetbreads appetizer that was incredible, albeit nearly not enough to share a bite each. Artichoke soup amazing but spartan. Cioppino, Pork Belly & organic Chicken entrees were great choices. Clean Plate Club! Comp B'day mini ice cream cones were adorable & a surprise. Glad we went!"

Waiter seemed aloof, took forever to bring a drink, and even seemed condescending when I asked for salt for my meal and for a small plate to put under my dessert glass. I don't remember the noise level, so that must be good. For the price of the food I think next time I will go somewhere where the jean-cladded waiters down look down on the clients."

  • "I wanted to mix up my restaurant choices for my most recent trip to Chicago and decided to try GEB. Having been to Girl and the Goat a few doors down several times i had high standards. I went with a group of 5 and so we got the really nice booth in a back corner of the restaurant that was very private. I had the salmon, and my colleagues had the skate, pork chop, and scallop. my salmon was great and the pork chop that i tried was amazing. we all shared the parpadelle, heats of palm salad, kale, polenta, sweetbreads, and banana split. the parpadelle was my favorite over all and the banana split was amazing, mostly because it had pretzels in it and candied hazelnuts. i don't usually like dessert but it was wonderful."

  • "GEB is nice for that special occasion. The food is a little pricey to make it a regular stop. But the quality of the meal was great. My wife still insists that the dessert she had was the best ever in the US. As we dined early, I would have liked to see something a little less painful on the wallet. There wasn't much of a selection for just a light dinner."

  • "The food experience at GEB was exactly what I hoped it would be. I love to cook, I love to watch Master Chef, and I couldn't wait to go to Chicago to eat at Graham Elliot's restaurant. My husband and I decided that while the portions were average size, the flavor was huge and more than filling. Carrot soup, skate, risotto, beef stroganoff, and dream sicle desert... each one was a bigger, better experience than the next. We thought the price was reasonable for such a fantastic meal. You must visit this restaurant! And I can't wait to visit again!"

  • "GEB is great for foodies. Lots of inventive menu items with foams, marshmallows, and more, but it comes together beautifully! The noise level was a little loud and with Chicago's winter this year, I'd recommend sitting away from the large door in the back as it was a little chilly. The service was top notch - servers were very polite, knowledgeable, and stayed on top of things the entire time."

  • "My wife and I went one recent Saturday evening. I ordered the prix fixe dinner and thought the food excellent. My wife ordered two dishes a la carte and did not like either of them much. The glass of champagne we started with was excellent.The service was fine, but the noise level was approaching the intolerable. Given the fact that we ordered champagne to start and I had wine also, the price was really quite reasonable."

I was irritated that the greeter made me wait for my husband to park the car before seating me when there were only a few people in the restaurant and it was one of those terrible weather days. I also had cold air blowing on me at times and someone said that they checked and the heat was on. I think one of the back doors was open here and there. The food is so amazing that I will gladly come back!"

  • "Overall a good meal. deconstructed Caesar salad was one of the best salads I've had in a while. Servers seemed a little aloof, but, thats ok. portions were good sizes, food came out in a timely fashion. I had the prix fixe. Stroganoff was tasty and potatoes were done well. Banana split was good as well. i was looking for the truffle oil popcorn, but, maybe its not on this locations menu. Too bad for me! Reasonably priced. Overall, a good time!"

  • "I had Old Fashion bourbon to start, which was good but not necessarily outstanding. But the evening got better with carrot bisque, which exceptional and then scallops and pork belly, which was also incredible. All the dishes ordered were flavorful and certainly did not disappoint."

  • "The food was outstanding. First time there and was very impressed. I was very taken aback by a comment the server made, though. The couple next to us asked the server if two of their friends who were not originally part of their group could join their party when they arrived. The server mentioned that he had to talk to the host about it first. When he came back, he told the couple, under his breath, (or so he thought. Tables are close together so we heard everything) that "that table right there(us) is about to leave. When they do, we can pull that table over and your friends can join." We were about half done with the meal at that point. From then on, we were rushed. Drinks weren't refilled and the table next kept staring. Continue below."

  • "We were in town for my bday and our reservation was for 5 and we arrived at 4:50 so we took a seat at the bar. The bartender was very friendly. We did notice that when we were sitting there a gentleman that was in the back had said to a different one "what's up with that" and pointed to us. So that wasn't the greatest and made us feel a little awkward. Other than that the atmosphere was very good. The music was a little too loud and too alternative for me. The food was great and was explained very well so we knew exactly what we had in front of us. The main chef was very nice and even offered to take some pictures for us."

  • "My husband and I booked reservations for the 15th of February as we were coming into Chicago for a Valentine weekend. There were two chef's tasting menus to choose from for the holiday. We went with the 10 course and were not disappointed with any courses! His favorite was the foie gras lollipop rolled in watermelon pop rocks and mine was the pasta dish with beet stained noodles, beet puree, and goat cheese. Will definitely return to try the regular menu."

  • "We arrived at 7 and found very few tables full, but the music was very loud, making it difficult to hear the waiter explain things. The tasting menu was a nice choice enabling us to mix and share dishes. My risotto was OK, large portion . husband's deconstructed caesaer salad looked beautiful and tasted fine. Husband's short rib stroganoff was the hit of the night. My skate with beluga lentils tasted good but the fish had a kind of off-putting texture. First time having skate so that might have been my problem. Dessert was panna cotta with blood orange, not sweet, large portions. Very pricey for a dinner that was more interesting than delivering on taste. Have found other notable chef restaurants to be a better experience for less money."

  • "The eight course tasting menu was fantastic. Each dish was impeccably prepared and very flavorful. One of the best dishes I have had in a long time was the cavatelli with crème fraiche, beet root, and trout roe. The service was top notch and well-timed.   • "We finally made it up to the city to visit GEB and really enjoyed it. Though we arrived 45 minutes early for our brunch reservation, the place was not yet full and they happily seated us immediately. Chicken and waffles and biscuits and gravy were both very tasty. Service throughout was efficient and friendly. When we left shortly after noon, the place was packed with people waiting in the tiny bar. . . recommend an early arrival if you can swing it! It's nice to have a celebrity chef joint at a price point that is accessible to regular people. Found an open free parking spot around the corner on Peoria Street as well, yippee! Overall a good experience and worth the drive."

  • "When the reservation was made it was not explained that the meal was a prix fix. The food I found to be trying a bit too hard. For the price paid, I would have expected my server to be delivering each course. Instead, different food runners dropped off each course. Most did not explain what each course was, those that did, spoke so softly or broken English it was hard to understand what we were eating. On top of that after each course the wait staff removed our utensils, and we'd wait an average of 5 minutes after our next course came, for someone to walk by to ask for a fork. Twice my drink was delivered to the wrong table. I left feeling hungry and annoyed - and not what I would expect for a $500 meal!"
