Ordered filet and my wife ordered hers well- done. We waited a bit but they came out with a perfect well-done steak that wasn't burned at all. I've never seen that done so well. The steaks and food was incredible. The bread was even worth writing home about. Mixed basket of country French breads like we had in Provence. Service was very prompt and friendly. Gazette was expensive, but well worth it.

The restaurant had a well-priced table d'hôte lunch for $22. I chose the quinoa salad with rare tuna followed by pork with jerk spices and root vegetables. The meal was excellent and service was thoughtful and attentive, without being intrusive. I plan on returning.

We went here for our honeymoon and had a nice evening. The menu was inventive and tasty. We had the crab risotto and a lobster appetizer. Both were great. For dinner my husband had a veal t-bone, which was a large portion and I had an "open faced" lobster ravioli. Both were delicious and different. Our server was knowledgeable and honest about the food, giving his opinion when asked. The hostess, manager, and server all made it a point to congratulate us on our wedding and make us feel special. We thought that was nice. The ambiance was romantic - very small table, but no different than any other 2-top. All in all I would recommend.

Lobster ravioli- lobster was overlooked to the point of being chewy and could not taste the lobster flavour at all in the dish. Ravioli itself was well cooked but the brown sauce didn't seem to belong with a seafood. I'm from New Brunswick where we have fresh lobster and I eat it once a week - maybe this is why I was so disappointed with it? Had the steak, asked for medium rare and it was well done shame because it was a nice cut of meat. The waiter would explain the dish/wine as he served but was mumbling so we actually didn't understand anything throughout the meal. Hate sounding so negative, but this was our experience and we were expecting more.

Unfortunately, our dinner here on a very quiet evening was simply not as good as it should have been. Two of us ordered a scallop & shrimp dish and two ordered steaks. Caesar salads came promptly and were fairly decent, not over-dressed, with a nice parmesean cheese crouton on each. Overall, the wine list was not inspiring, nor were there any real values hidden therein. Too much time passed before our entrees arrived; none of the dishes were as hot as they should have been. Not sure if it was a kitchen or waitstaff error; our server only had about two other tables. Too bad, as the flavors were actually quite nice on the scallop dish.

Given the cold outside, and the fact that Montreal Restaurants were booked up for new years weeks in advance, we were lucky to get into the Westin's restaurant. My Niece had the beef, which was cooked to perfection. My fish was a bit overdone, but the mushroom risotto was devine. The service staff are all extremely friendly, and of course, bi-lingual. While it would have been nice to venture out to try the city's varied food scene, it was a nice evening and no need for the heavy coats and boots to get home!

This restaurant is one of our favorites as it tends to be a bit more placid than some others we have found and the food is wonderful. I had already eaten here earlier in the week (and had a great meal) but we had friends who had never been to Montreal before and it was our last night before returning to the U.S. We had done several of the local "trendy" restaurants over the course of the weekend and wanted to stay closer to our hotel and were seated at a table overlooking St. Antoine street for our dinner. We ordered wine by the glass and enjoyed the starters and the main dishes while watching the city descend into darkness; a great way to end our weekend!

Because the Gazette restaurant is a "hotel restaurant", the menu is limited and the price fairly high. The decor, while trendy and minimalist, is hotel run-of-the-mill. The quality of the food, however, was really good. Tasty sauces, not too salty, and ingredients that would appeal to foodies...truffles, lobster, carpaccio and tartar. Very rich fare, nothing for the health-conscious diner. Overall, a great experience, but a meal for two , with appies and bottle of wine, would cost you near 200$ CAN.

Outstanding Ceasar salad - the entrées are fantastic - mains are solid - the one suggestion for improvement: sauces seem similar for several dishes, the same sauce seemed to be on the ravioli entrée, the gnocchi main and the lamb shank main (veal reduction) so that could do with some refinement!

Food was excellent although the menu is limited (not necessarily a bad thing). The service can be a bit slow, especially if the place get busy... they don't seem to staff for a busy night. Out waiter was very pleasant and did his best when the "rush" came. Some nice wines available by the glass but pricy and not a very large pour. There are very little seating that is isolated from the bar so when it gets noisy in the bar, it gets noisy in the dining area - not a problem unless you want to carry on a conversation that requires a quieter atmosphere.
