The food was fine but not great. Nothing extra special to rave about, especially for the cost -$29.99 per person - $39.99 to add unlimited mimosas. Scones were hard and French toast was pre-made and sitting in a chafing dish. Bagels were actually one plain variety of "bagel thins" which seems a very odd choice.

When in Hawaii my preference is waterside dining so I was reluctant to try Gaylord's...wow am I happy I gave it a try. Great food, great service, great location. My only criticism, avoid Tuesday and Thursdays when the racket from the luau drowns out the piano and the conversation.

We went there for Sunday lunch as we had heard so much about it. I must say the champagne brunch was awesome. The food was very good. The ambiance was nice. The only thing that was disappointing was the service. The waitress was very friendly. Sadly, however it took her a while to get our drinks cause they were so busy and she seemed to be the only one taking the orders etc. Gaylord's for brunch is must!

We have always loved going to Sunday brunch in Kauai. Unfortunately Gaylords is the only restaurant left that has a Sunday brunch so we tried it last week even though we were disappointed the last time we were there. We won't bother again. The buffet was very sparse with mostly breakfast items that had been on the line too long. The desserts were tiny cookies or small, uninspired items. They offer three entrees that come with the brunch, but are ordered separately. The prime rib was already gone at noon so we tried the ahi benedict...cold, tasteless, a true disappointment. We won't be back.

We dined here for our 1 year anniversary! It is a beautifully romantic setting at night. There is an amazing band that plays lovely relaxing music, the wait staff is were all so nice. And our food was great! My husband is still talking about how good the prime rib special was! Then we had the kilohana plantation pie for dessert.... AMAZING! Very rich and a pretty big serving so it was perfect to share! Gaylord's exceeded my expectations and made our anniversary night all the more special!

Gaylords never disappoints. we try to go at least once each trip. This time...had some salads to start - flavorful and fresh. Wife had the Ono special and I had the pork. Portions were nice size and presented well. Tasted awesome. Sides were great. Sitting in courtyard is just so nice and romantic as well. service is very good. Overall, outstanding... definitely go!

The food is amazing! The pork tenderloin with mushroom sauce is out of this world. The service is fast, friendly and knowledgeable. The lovely live piano music was drowned out by the fun drumming and crowd cheering at the Luau next door. If you're planning a quiet romantic dinner make reservations for a time the Luau isn't happening.

First time I went there, it was like eh, but years ago. I came here a second time because my mother in law gave us a gift certificate. Service was excellent and so was the food. No complaints at all, delicious. The thing that stuck out the most was the manager Jeffery. He was helping the servers give out bread, busting tables, and making his rounds to make sure everyone was happy. You never see managers that involved. The restaurant owners have found them a gem. Kudos Jeffery, thanks for making the experience that much better.

I remember the days when brunch meant stuffing your face with thousands of calories of food that had no rhyme or reason. Gaylords brunch is like this. The more than sufficient buffet had the standard heavy brunch dishes such as sausage, scrambled eggs, two types of rice, bacon, so-so fruit (For Hawaii!) with a couple of very good dessert standouts, pastries etc. Then you also get to select from one of three main courses which were prime rib, an ahi eggs benedict or the omelette of the day. All it it was a big bowl of OK for an old fashioned style brunch. There was very little creativity. On the plus side -the view, service and ambience were outstanding.

What a beautiful setting, and what a 1950's menu. The food was good, but in this age when people are aware of what they are eating, a 14 oz. Prime Rib is so 1950's. The salad was excellent. The desert (the tartlet) was fantastic. The setting is great. The staff seem to really care about giving good service. Gaylord is long gone and we don't eat like he did!

We booked brunch here for our first morning on the island, glad we did! Food was good, live music, nice breeze on the lanai. Food abundant on the buffet so we passed up on the additional a la carte items (which are included), though wish we had saved more room, as the scrambled eggs on the buffet were below par, and we could have had them cooked to order instead! Other items creative and tasty. This is a great place to come and eat, spend time strolling the grounds, very leisurely meal.

My wife and I have made it a mission to have the Sunday Brunch every time we come to the island. This is our sixth visit since 2006. Each time, the food has gotten worse and the price has gotten higher, to the point we won't go back. This time, they offered a "Prime Rib" as an a la carte choice as part of the brunch. What we were served was not Prime Rib. We got an overcooked, tough piece of cheap sirloin. To add insult to injury, the bread pudding, which used to be my wife's favorite, is now just a hard, dried out chunk of yuck. It used to be moist and delicious, with a container of vanilla sauce next to it for added flavor. To us, at least, a total waste of our hard earned money

That was the whole purpose of the occasion to begin with. Pretty disappointed. If u are able to write notes about the occasion then the restaurant should at least take the time to read it.

Sunday brunch at Gaylord's should not be missed. Unique, upscale buffet PLUS a choice of 3 additional entrees. Our choices included seared ahi eggs Benedict & prime rib sandwich. The best buffet items included garlic fried rice, rum bread pudding, char-grilled hamburger patties for loco moco, 3-cheese scrambled eggs, fresh house-made doughnuts, french toast with coconut syrup. Also fruit, salad, charcuterie, bagels & lox, etc. Top-notch service, bottomless mimosas, and make-your-own bloody Mary bar.

We first found Gaylord's in 2000 when looking for a special place to celebrate our daughter's 21st birthday and it was the perfect find. It still is our favorite "special occasion" destination every time we are in Kauai. Food is delicious, service is so attentive and caring and ambiance is perfect. There is outdoor seating around a pretty courtyard with fresh flowers on the tables and live, music that's very pleasing to the ear! Gaylord's is always a highlight of our time on Kauai!

This restaurant is pretty, the service and ambviance were good, but overall the food was average. I ordered the caprese salad which was tasty, and the steak which was fatty with a large amount of grizzle. My son had the scallops and my husband the ribs and both thought their meals were good but not great. We had higher expectations based on the ratings and the expensive price.

This is the third time we've had Sunday brunch at Gaylord's and each time it just gets better. We were seated at the garden end of the breezeway and there was an excellent ukelele player there along with his daughter, who performed some lovely hula dances to some of the songs. You get a main course, then there are many good dishes served buffet style, plus unlimited juice and coffee. It's located at the Kilohana Plantation, the former residence of one of Kaua'i's last sugar barons. Beautiful house and grounds, with a few shops as well. A lovely spot to end a vacation.

I really loved this restaurant. Setting is an historic sugar plantation that is completely restored. My entire family enjoyed strolling the grounds. The food had fabulous flavors and lovely presentation. I had the seared ahi in a mustard sauce. I eat ahi fairly often, but this preparation is the best I have had. My son and daughter in law loved the fried chicken and corn waffle with a bourbon syrup. Better than Roscoes! Our waiter, Jeff, was charming, informative and attentive. He made sure to lower a screen when the sun hit our eyes. He also explained a lot about the history of Kauai plantations when we asked. The entire experience was so perfect....Vintage Kauai for sure.

I ate at Gaylord's last summer & it was good! It's in a beautiful historic plantation house & after taking the train ride around the grounds earlier & learning all about the food & herbs that are grown on the property we wanted to try it. It was fine so we wanted to go back this year. Disappointingly there wasn't anything on the menu that was grown there (maybe some herbs) or even locally sourced on the island. My steak was gristly & salty.

We booked our 15th anniversary meal at Gaylords after hearing it was one of the best romantic "special occasion" dinners on Kauai. Much to our horror, several tour buses arrived at the same time, carrying hundreds of people. Even though the tour crowd was ushered off to the luau (which was close to the "romantic dinner" area), the audience yelled, and drums and conch horns were continuous. The food was mixed: Ahi Poke was outstanding, and the Ono (that night's special) was horrid (overcooked and the sauce tasted canned). Service was attentive - overly attentive - and rushed. Plus, there was no mention that it was our anniversary, despite sending a note to the restaurant when we booked that it was a special night. We will not go back.
