Diner Reviews
  • "Probably one of the worse places I have been to in a long time, we booked the restaurant randomly and found that it had good reviews but soon found out first hand the bad food and the poor service I wouldn't recommend anyone pays this place a visit when they come into town"

  • "I love this place. The food is delicious and the location, especially on the patio is perfect for lunch or dinner. You can people watch on Pine Ave while enjoying your meal. It's a lively atmosphere so groups do well there."

  • "We've been at this restaurant numerous times and they always relieved. For this visit we brought a couple of friends along and they were extremely pleased and were still raving about the food and ambience of the restaurant until the next day. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Long Beach."

  • "Food was great. Drinks were nice and stern. Waiter's could be a bit more attentive to their guest. But overall great place for a nice evening out☺"

  • "We were going to see the Queen Mary (what a bust that turned out to be, but that is another review) and decided to eat before going there. Unfortunately, we were the only ones at the restaurant. Not sure if it was the time and the lunch rush was over or it is slow there during lunch time anyway. The restaurant is located in the downtown area and it did not look like a busy downtown anyway. In fact, the restaurant next door was closed for lunch and only opens for dinner. However, we were five and everyone had a great lunch. The carrot soup was outstanding and the meat was really good. I definitely recommend it."

  • "We were very delighted to have chosen this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. The service was outstanding from the beginning. We were pleased with the ambiance, the live music, and just overall experience. We happen to find a Groupon for this restaurant and our server, Gaston, was very helpful in meeting all our needs. We always had fresh bread, and our water was always topped off. My wife and I are looking forward to our next visit."

  • "I made a reservation but they did not have a table reserved. They did not have anything decent so I sat at the bar. my point is WHY make a reservation?"

  • "First time at Guacho Grill but love Argentinian food - nice restaurant with great food selections and very good cocktails! Sat in the outdoor area and just loved the people watching and nice breeze flowing through."

  • "We went there on a Sat night with prior reservation. Everything was great, food, ambiance... However, server screwed up many times during our stay. First, he cannot remember the drinks we order, he had to bring it back and forth 3 times cuz all times were wrong. To make it worse, one of the glass was kinda broken and was liking at the bottom which made our table all wet.. He did now know? Hmmm... Also, he forgot our soup which we went straight with our entree. Entree took a good 30' to be served. Many tables around us were inpatient and their not pleasant faces while waiting for food to come out. Also they mixed other tables food with ours and so forth... It was just too many things that went wrong. Food was okay, 3 stars."

  • "Everything was really good. My only complaint is...I made a reservation in advance and when we arrived we were seated at table in the back by the kitchen. It felt like we were not even in the restaurant really. I feel that if you make a reservation, especially if the place is not high end, you should receive a better table. Everything else was excellent though, food and wait staff were great."

  • "My husband and I dined at the Gaucho Grill on March 9, 2014, and had an absolutely fabulous dining experience. We had two types of empanadas - beef and chicken, both of which were flaky and flavorful. We shared the Argentinian sizzling platter which came with an assortment of grilled meats (2 types of steaks, one with a bone and one without), chicken, chicken brochette, vegetables, and 2 side dishes. We did not have room for dessert but will definitely be back again."

  • "My husband and I frequent this restaurant so much; we oftentimes visit twice a week. The food and service are awesome. The staff are very friendly and attentive. We just keep going back since they opened in 2011."

  • "Outstanding steaks and chops. Unfortunately, they gave away our reservations for five by mistake. Although they offered a free drink at the bar, we still had to wait for a table. When we finally were seated, the waiter wanted to take our orders before we had been given menus. Not a pleasant introduction."

  • "Good friends of ours have been to Gaucho Grill a few times and have loved it (they are big foodies) so we decided to try it out. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and very tasty. My husband felt his steak was the best he's ever had. Mine was very good but not the best I've ever had. My husband loved the mashed potatoes but I thought they were average. The steamed spinach was great. The wine pours were kind of small. We had a coupon so it was a good deal. I'm not sure if I would go if I had to pay full price though."

  • "After spending about 6 months in Argentina, I grew to love a lot of their dishes. I've been looking for a place with authentic Argentine cuisine for a long time and this place really fits the bill. I particularly love the parrilla grilled meat place -definitely a must! Their provoleta cheese appetizer is also amazing. The service has been spectacular every time I've come here as well. The white sangria is a unique offering - its good - and the wine list is fabulous too. You pretty much can't go wrong with this place. I love taking friends who've never had Argentine food. Everyone that I've brought here has loved it."

  • "Upon reading mixed reviews we decided to still come here for my husband birthday. The only negative thing so have to say about this place is when we first arrived. No one greeted us at the door. We actually had to flag someone down to be seated. But after that everything was great! Our waiter suggested all our choices from the wine to dessert and everything was delicious! If you haven't had Luigi Bosca's Malbec, you have to try it......it's wonderful! For our main course I had the short ribs, my husband had the lamb chops and my son had their fettuccini pasta. All were delicious! Our waiter was always around was on top of all our orders. Great place!"

  • "We dined here before going to a show at the Long Beach Performing Arts Center and we have been here several times before. Our favorite dish is the skirt steak. The quality of this steak is simply amazing, cooked to perfection. When we arrived, we checked into the hostess stand and had to wait approximately 5 minutes to be seated which was fine. We got to our table and no one came to greet us. My husband went to the restroom and came back, and still no one came to take our drink order. Finally, we flagged down a waiter but he stated that he wasn't our server and that he would get someone for us. The service suffered in the beginning but the quality of the food definitely makes up for it."

  • "My boyfriend and I have been dying to eat here, and we were really disappointed that there wasn't more than two choices to chose from on valentines day. I wish we were informed. I didn't like either of the choices and or the appetizer and they forgot to give us the dessert. Ruined our valentines dinner."

  • "Phenomenal service coupled with delicious food, in a great ambiance. Great for a date or with a group of friends. I wish I had learned about this restaurant sooner. After being in LA for over three years, I consider this one of the best overall restaurant experiences to date. Absolutely loved it!"

  • "This is an authentic Argentine restaurant with a strong array of beef entrees, as befits that country. We would like to try all of the offerings since some are different from other steakhouses. Our beef was properly done and we enjoyed an interesting list of appetizers. Even the servers hail from Argentina. Indoors is somewhat noisy but Gaucho Grill also has sidewalk tables in downtown Long Beach. It offers a full bar. We'll return."

  • "Have been craving their bread with chimichurri sauce since my first visit at the old Santa Monica and Old Town Pasadena locations - it was worth the wait as it was as good as ever. Tables were a bit small but the food and service was excellent. Would love to see the return of the Pollo Picante Sandwich on the menu and their seasoned curly fries. Will be back"

  • "Come here for dinner before shows at The Found Theatre. Plan on at least 1 1/2 hrs. Service is always slow. But if you know this, you just allow plenty of time."

  • "I dont think seabass should be fried. Read all the components of your dish, it will come out missing an ingredient and the server will deny."

  • "great food and service. our server was very attentive and very personable. stopped by for dinner for DineLA week and really enjoyed their menu and sangria. they have live music on weekends, which was really nice for the ambience--not too loud, just enough to make for a pleasan background. my only complaint is that tables for 2 usually are tables squeezed together along the wall where you are so close to the next table--although cozy, it was kind of uncomfortable for me to have a conversation with strangers right next to me. overall, a good experience. will definitely come back to try the rest of the menu."

  • "It was our second time here, but this time we brought our whole family of 8. We sat on paitio and it was just perfect. Our server was fantastic and went beyond the call of duty to serve us and make sure we had everything our little hearts desired. The manager made his way to all the tables to greet everyone. I would recommend this to everyone I know. The place is beautiful, the decor' is interesting and unusual. Very classy place.......love it!"

  • "We were in LA and wanted to find a fun restaurant for New Year's Eve...and we did. Gaucho was great; the staff was accomodating, friendly and attentive. The food was amazing and plentiful. It made for a fun, festive New Year's Eve celebration. I would definitely make a return visit next time I am in the area."

  • "Great little spot. I don't usually write reviews but the food was EXCELLENT and compelled me to write one. Service was great. Wasn't crowded but had a nice little patio to sit on and enjoy a nice lunch."

  • "You can not beat the food and the service. I had the Angus beef with portabella mushrooms and it was lean, tender, and flavorful..an excellent choice. The menu offers a variety of choices, as well as a reasonable range of prices. The restaurant normally is a more intimate and quiet dining experience but can accommodate up to 16 people comfortable inside and on the outdoor patio. I have experienced both."

  • "We can not wait to go back at Gaucho. It started with a deal they posted online. Thought it was a perfect dinner for my husband's birthday. I don't know what to expect since it was our first time to dine at Gaucho. I was so glad I tried it. Excellent food, excellent ambiance, excellent music/singer, excellent service. Everything about is excellent. Thanks, Enrique for being hands-on on all of your guests. We feel like we're at home. See you soon."

  • "Gaucho Grill has a nice ambiance, good service and great steaks. We both had the New York Strip steaks - cooked perfectly to order - I got mine medium rare. It was covered in dark delicious mushroom sauce and I had mashed potatoes and a small salad as my choice of sides. We did order the calamari appetizer which was good - did have to ask for a bit more dipping sauce but that came quickly. The white sangria is made in house and is a special treat."
