  • "What a disappointment......we first had a rude receptionist who seemed to forget that we were waiting, and finally a more courteous receptionist seated us. The table wait staff were very good....but the food was SO SALTY!!! We had the crab risotto, rabbit, and pork chop...ALL WAY TOO SALTY!! SO DISAPPOINTED BOBBY FLAY!!!"

  • "The kale paella was amazing and the sharing apps choice is convenient for different kinds of eaters."

  • "Simply unbelievable. If you want to impress someone, take them there."

  • "My brother and I came here after eating dinner the same night. We weren't very hungry, but we made the reservation because we really wanted to try this place while in town. We ordered a few apps to split. Everything was delicious. The decor of the restaurant was nice, but we were shoved into a corner booth where my brother's chair sat directly next to the register. I was smashed into the corner wall as well. All night, my brother was sitting next to a waiter closing out a bill for the most part. This seat should probably be removed or used as part of the table beside us. Other than that, this place was great. I would definitely come again for the full meal, earlier reso, and a full table."

  • "This restaurant lives up to its hype. The food was incredible and the service was even better. Everything we ordered was delicious and the restaurant is gorgeous. It is not a quiet dining place or for kids, but we weren't there for those reasons. Must haves include the scrambled eggs, the Kale paella, roasted cauliflower and the fried potatoes. We also got one of the pastas as an entrée which was also amazing (an underdog as our server told us), the tortiglioni. The charred tomato salad was also quite good and so were the dips but not must haves if they're not your thing. The chocolate crema catalane - over the top incredible. I can't say enough about this restaurant - Bobby has outdone himself!"

  • "I expected a lot from Bobby Flay's Gato, and my expectations were surpassed. Everything we ordered was superb: the roast octopus, the charred tomato appetizer, crab risotto, rabbit, and above all, the charred beef, which was outstanding. The desserts we had (lemon cake with blueberry gelato and blackberry crostata with vanilla ice cream and honey) were also excellent. The wines were handled expertly. The only disappointment was that they forgot to put a candle on the dessert for my daughter's birthday. Otherwise, perfection!"

  • "When you think celebrity chef you don't necessarily expect great food. Gato is the exception to this rule. The "choose 3" from the bar plates was great. We had the lamb, buratta and potatoes. The lamb pizza was also great. The octopus was some of the best I've had. We then moved on to the Paella and Steak. The paella is not to miss but would have been better with some sort of protein."

  • "This place is a find. The food is awesome, beautifully prepared and presented. I have to specifically mention the octopus, it is THE BEST I have ever had. And if you have never had it, this is the place to have it (although it will spoil you for life). If you are a foodie, you will be in heaven - unique combinations of flavors, textures and presentations. All in all, one of my new favorite restaurants!"

  • "This is my second time dining at Gato. I think the bar items & appetizers are delicious & unique. Unfortunately I was not a huge fan of my entree - the squid ink fettuccine. The shrimp and mussels were extremely fishy-tasting (did not seem very fresh). Frozen shrimp cooked at home is less fishy than that. Also the potato side that we ordered was SO salty. After just one bite of the potatoes, I had to drink an entire cup of water. Last time, I ordered the kale/mushroom paella as my entree but the kale was bitter and entire dish too salty. This time someone else ordered it and it was way better (not bitter, less salty). It doesn't seem that the dishes are very consistent. The cheesecake dessert was delicious though, and service is top-notch."

  • "Loved the rabbit. The shrimp appetizer sat in a bed of grease and it was not appealing. The cauliflower was also in a bed of grease and not that good."

  • "Visited Gato after pre booking weeks in advance to get a table - not disappointed! Wow, every mouthful of food was just amazing and a treat for the senses. The service was unobtrusive and subtle. We enjoyed the entire experience and would recommend to anyone - just take your credit card as it isn't cheap"

  • "Staff is friendly, professional and most importantly knowledgeable. Rabbit was unbelievable, crispy potatoes are a must. I don't usually give five stars since nobody is ever perfect, however, I could find no fault in anything. Although it is loud (as are most NYC restaurants) you have more space than usual. Definitely going back."

  • "All of the dishes were extremely flavorful. The crab risotto was delicious as was the white anchovies and burrata. For the main course we had the halibut in a tomato sauce with olives - the fish was well prepared and the sauce was light but perfectly balanced with the olives. I would definitely recommend having dinner at Gato."

  • "Everything tastes amazing. Start with any appetizer, specifically the scrambled eggs or grilled octopus, for entrees try the kale & mushroom or chicken, add a side dish, specifically the cauliflower."

  • "We were so thrilled with our first visit to Gato. We had reservations for a Monday night and were seated immediately. We wanted to experience as much of the food as possible so we did the bar menu - each having 3 little appetizers. Then, we each had an appetizer, and this left room for a shared dessert. Every bite was outstanding. On the bar menu, my hands down favorite was the anchovies - best I've had outside Italy. But the eggplant and chorizo were delicious too. My husband had lamb tenderloin and piquillo with raw tuna and loved everything. His appetizer was roasted octopus which he declared perfect. Mine was exquisite crab risotta. We will not miss this place on our next trip back to the City."

  • "Great food and special cocktails, the staff had great knowledgeable of the menu and definitely has great skills for customer service. My only complaint was the noise level."

  • "What a great evening at Gato! Lively crowd (Tom Wolfe was around), delicious food, and great-looking restaurant. The food is outstanding - - tasty, original, robust. Try the rabbit and the kale/wild mushroom paella."

  • "The food was excellent in all respects. A bit noisy, but that shouldn't keep you away. Only recommendation is they should replace all of their chairs. Hard and uncomfortable."

  • "This was a great experience - every dish that we tried was better than the next!! I was so sad when Mesa Grill closed but this helps make up for that loss!! Great atmosphere - nice bar, great service. Definitely will be back."

  • "Having dined many times at several of Bobby Flay's restaurants, we have been spoiled by his genius and expect a memorable meal each time regardless of what we order. We still think he is one of the better chefs in the city however our meal at Gato didn't live up to his name or standards. We were much surprised when the dishes were not seasoned perfectly and balanced and found in general that the food was a tad salty and in some case sweet as well. We hope that this is just part of the growing pains and will certainly return to give it another try."

  • "this is our third time at Gato. We love certain delicious dishes, especially the small bar dishes and a few appetizers, including the pasta dishes. For that we'd like to come back, however everything is soaked in heavy sauce is not a good idea, such as the vegetable like cauliflower are way too salty and sweet each time, and pork chops are topped with too much sauce when the simple grilled would be delicious. after the meal, we feel thirsty each time and have to drink tons of water. We love Gato, but we really wish the chef use less salt and sugar."

  • "Overall, I felt that the four week wait for a table resulted in a somewhat disappointing dinner. We opted to go with shared Bar Bites for our appetizer. And while they were all tasty, the portions were TINY! The entrees were good but nothing outstanding. We ordered the Pork Chop and the Rabbit which I understood to be considered the best two things on the menu. And while they were good, they were not outstanding. A bit disappointing overall."

  • "Our server, Jerrod, was extremely attentive and full of great details. The entire staff was helpful and happy to be at work... Every morsel of food was scrumptious and packed with interesting flavor and presentation. Chic decor, great location - we've already mentioned it to 2 friends! Thanks Bobby😊"

  • "My favorite spot in the city. Every dish is inventive with perfect combinations of textures and flavors. I've been a couple times and both times were excellent. The bar menu is perfect to have as an appetizer to try multiple different bites. Last night they were running 15-20 mins behind and all of the staff was profusely apologetic and comped us an appetizer and dessert. The staff is very attentive and friendly. A must try restaurant. Even though I could go to a different restaurant every night I would come back to gato in a second."

  • "B. Flay has proved he's still got it behind the kitchen. A lot of places shine in one spot and are lacking in others, but at Gato everything from top to bottom, appetizer to dessert was fantastic. And the waitress, I guess, overheard me say happy birthday to my girlfriend at the table so when we ordered dessert she put it upon herself to put a candle in the cheesecake!!! Made me look like the best guy in the world. If you're going there are two things that you CANNOT miss: 1. Scrambled Eggs - I do NOT like eggs but I got this because everyone hyped it up. This transcends any potential you thought eggs could ever have. I wish I could make these. 2. Kale + Wild Mushroom Paella - I'm a meat eater but this was the best thing I had. By far."

  • "Spent the day in NYC ending with dinner at Gato, Flay's latest addition to the dinning scene. Our meal was excellent from start to finish. One suggestion....get rid of those horrible cane backed chairs. Anyone with a generous bottom will not be comfortable. By 7:00 PM the noise level makes dinner conversation difficult but every bite of the food was absolutely delicious! The treat of a glass of cream sherry and biscotti at the end of the meal was a pleasant and tasty surprise."

  • "This new mediterranean restaurant in NoLita is just about perfect in every way. I have now been there twice, and it is getting harder to get a reservation...suffice it to say, service, food and desserts are all fabulous, and Bobby is actually in the kitchen. I heartily recommend the squid ink pasta with shrimp, and the tarragon chicken is sublime. But, be sure to sample the spreads first as they are too good to miss! Just go, before it becomes impossible to get in!!"

  • "My boyfriend and I went there a few days ago. All dishes we ordered were delicious! We had roasted octopus, kale and wild mushroom paella, fresh fettuccine with squid ink, and red plum tart tatine. All are creative and well crafted meals. However, everything was very salty except dessert. We got very thirsty afterward. But overall we are very happy with the restaurant; food was great and ambiance was trendy, and the staff was very professional. I'll definitely come back."

  • "Gato is wonderful! I was so bummed when my favorite Flay establishment, Mesa Grill, closed in NYC. It was a spot I made sure to visit every time I visited the city. Now, I have a new gem in Gato. Thank you for this special venue and its relaxed yet vibrant atmosphere!"

  • "Kudos to Bobby Flay on another great restaurant! Food was delicious and innovative with just the right sized portions. A person in our party had a tree nut allergy and all steps were taken to insure a healthy meal. Waitress was a little overbearing and pushy regarding what we ordered (she didn't think we had enough food and it was plenty for our taste). Water glasses refilled promptly, bussers were efficient and unobtrusive. Worth the wait for a reservation!"

  • "The service was excellent and the food was wonderful (but three dishes topped with poached eggs?!?) but the portions are small (one tentacle was the whole octopus portion!) and the prices are high. Is the food worth it? Yes. Would I go back again? Yes. Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Would I like it better if the portions were a little larger and the prices a little lower? You bet."

  • "Gato is definitely a new hot spot. We waited over 5 weeks for a Friday night reservation for 4. I think that is why overall I was disappointed. The food was good not great. The ambiance and space are very cool. Great trendy Manhattan decor. The service if all the staff was excellent. I am going to give it another try but I wasn't as impressed as others have been. I found the food pretty standard. The highlights are definitely the Octopus and the Rabbit."

  • "The food was absolutely delicious! We sampled some bar appetizers, and they were different and tasty. They are small enough that you can sample a few and not get too filled up. The eggplant with the manchego was really tasty. We also had the octoputus appetizer. It was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. I had the crab risotto which was very decadent. I got the appetizer size, and it was a perfect size since it was so filling. The desserts were out of this world - the cheesecake was creamy, flavorful and rich. The gelatos were so creamy and smooth! Overall, a wonderful dining experience."

  • "Went 7/24 post-Theater: There was a bit of a wait. The staff apologized profusely and treated us to a round of drinks! Once seated, we were greeted by Luciano, our great waiter. We began by sharing a 'pick 3' and a crab risotto. The portions on the pick 3 were small, hard to share by more than 2 people. So, I concentrated on the risotto while my wife and daughter shared the sampler. Main courses were beef, pork chop and paella, with the 3 of us sharing orders of roasted cauliflower and charred broccolini. All of the food was absolutely outstanding! I had a glass of Monastrell Escudo that went well with my steak. A scoop of gelato & a complimentary sherry for each of us was the finale of this wonderful dining experience. I'll be back!!!"
