Seats at the bar were nearly all taken, but only a few of the tables were occupied when we arrived. Liked the club-like ambiance we first felt. Unfortunately, mid-way through the meal a large family arrived with a young child, who got into a couple of crying spells. On my reservation, I requested a four top table for the extra elbow room to review some papers, since this wasn't a date or anything. However, the hostess presented us with a small, two top table. I asked for something else, and it wasn't available at the time even though several tables appeared to be open. Just as I expected, once the drinks, bread and salads arrived, we had a crowded table and no space to look at some needed papers that we wanted to review. The wait staff is very attentative. The lobster bisque is exceptional, the chicken fritters were a bit bland without the tangy sauce. Our two entrees could also use more spices - salmon had a lot going on with many vegetables, however the taste of the fish itself, bland. Other than the upstairs area being dark and smelling like smoke, we had a wonderful exprerience. However, when we requested to be moved, the waitress happily seated us elsewhere immediately and was very apologetic. I've experienced both a quiet Monday evening dinner downstairs in the winter and a more lively scene upstairs on the porch during the summer season. We were greeted by a welcoming host and we were promptly seated. The wait staff was very accommodating, warm and friendly. We ordered the lobster bisque for a first course. The portions were very generous for such a high quality bisque. It was very warm, fresh, and flavorful. The lobster tail was fresh and delicious but the claw meat from the lobster was slightly dry. Overall the bisque was fantastic. I ordered the Bourbon Street scallops for the main course. THE BEST MEAL I'VE EVER HAD! The scallops were smooth, blackened and perfectly spicy. The linguini that accompanied the scallops had a delicious cream sauce and was as equally as spicy as the scallops. The potato encrusted grouper was wonderful too, but split, it was a small piece of grouper. Normally comes with brussel sprouts, but we got asparagus instead and 2 new potatoes each, which were also encrusted. It was in a rich cream sauce. The service was great and the food was fantastic...although a big pricey...but you definitely get your moneys worth in the portion size.

Decor is comfortable but the the main attracation is the food. Excllent from the appetizers to dessert. Would highly recommend it to anyone.

They asked if we wanted to go upstairs to the bar while waiting on our reservation - we were 30 minutes early. The bar was pretty full, so we went out on the closed-in porch with heaters. It was cozy, quiet and comfortable, so we opted to eat out there. It was relaxing outside, while the inside upstairs bar area was vibrant and energetic. We were eating light and chose a soup and salad rather than an entree. The lobster bisque was outstanding and decadent. The house salad was way over the top from your usual house salad making it a lovely meal. I had a delicious Malbec from Argentina and my husband ordered from the beer list. The food was EXCELLENT, portion size was great! The only down-side to the evening was the ice cream machine was broken and we couldn't have the baked alaska that we had been looking forward to and we were stuck back in a corner with not a lot of moving room. The 3 course dinner for $50.00 per couple was a great deal. Our service by Camille was excellent and we also really appreciated some special accommodations we requested when we were seated. The service from front desk to bar to table is some of the best we've encountered. Spinach salad, scallops, eggplant napolean, brownies, & tiramisu were all delicious and generous portions. We had dinner at Garys on Friday evening and it was wonderful. Our waiter Titus was awesome and took great care of us. The food was exceptional. I think that we had the pick of servers though, as it seemed that a couple of the tables around us did not have great service with either the wrong food coming out or waiting on drinks.
