  • "Place was on the 39th floor. The food was good but I've had better. The place was a little smoky even though no one was grilling."

  • "We had a wonderful dining experience overall. The food was as amazing as the views. The staff was very attentive and friendly. We were sat at a table right by the window and were able to enjoy the spectacular views of NYC and watch the sunset as we dined. The menu has many traditional Korean dishes, as well as some Korean dishes with an American twist. I like really spicy food and many of the dishes had a nice, authentic kick to them. The only issue we had was when it came to ordering dessert. It was Restaurant week, but we had not ordered off the limited Restaurant week menu. However, we were told that the only desserts that were available were the two that were listed on the limited Restaurant week menu, which did not seem fair."

  • "This is a hidden gem that everyone should try. It seems odd that you enter into an office building but one you get to the restaurant..... amazing!"

  • "the food tasted good but certainly not enough, I was still hungry after ordering from summer 2014 restaurant week dinner of pork belly app, rib eye entrée and parfait dessert. I did not realize I had to bbq my entrée which was fine except that our table grill was only half working. the ambience is nice, staff is professional and the view is scenic (though a column obstructed most of the view). I would not recommend because it is located at the heart of koreatown where there are better options for the same price, if not less."

  • "We had much beautiful Korean food ! It was a happy experience with the amazing city night view and delicious food. We especially like the Nak-gi-bok-um (seasoning roasted small octopus) !!"

  • "i just wanted to say that after making reservations 5 days in advance, specifically requesting a window table... then reconfirming that i wanted a window table the day before on the phone, and arriving on time, they didn't give us a window table. also THERE WERE MULTIPLE WINDOW TABLES EMPTY when we arrived, and ONE OF THE TABLES REMAINED UNOCCUPIED during the entire duration of our dining experience!"

  • "The server was so attentive that when I wished my sister a happy birthday, she must have overheard. The restaruant surprised us with a birthday desert on the house! That was extra special."

  • "Went here recently for my birthday. Able to get the table I requested (window, of course). View of the Hudson & West Manhattan just breathtaking. The service both at the bar & at the table was courteous & timely. We have little experience with Korean food but it looked appealing & for the most part was tasty. The only comment about the barbequed shrimp cooked in the shell is that it was dry. Perhaps it should be grilled quickly without the shell."

  • "Great Food, Great Service, Amazing view! Great place to entertain or for special occasion. They do let u sit at the table before yr guests arrive which is refreshing! Looking forward to go back soon!"

  • "If you have reservation for 2:00 pm and running a bit late they wouldn't let you in. Restaurant is overpriced."

  • "This restaurant is hard to get to. They post staff at the lobby level to help customers, but the person who was working when I came was unhelpful. She didn't bother to explain that there are only two elevators that get to the restaurant floor, and a special button for those two elevators. Waited five frustrated minutes for elevators that never came down. But once I got to the restaurant, service was efficient. Great views of East River and downtown Manhattan. Unfortunately, food was mediocre. The kimchi--the barometer of quality Korean restaurants--was mediocre. I went during Restaurant Week so I don't know if it's expensive any other time, but I doubt the food is ever worth the price they must need to charge for the real estate."

  • "The view was great, though the windows needed a cleaning. The food was just average..definitely better Korean food available in the neighborhood at better prices. Service was spotty..waited at least 25 minutes between courses. Not sure if there were kitchen timing problems the night we went. They also forgot to bring the rice (which is an additional fee)."

  • "We wanted to try something different for restaurant week and was pleasantly surprised. The food was very good, view from the 39th floor was gorgeous and the service was very attentive. Would go back"

  • "First of all, I love the penthouse and the scene of Manhattan looking from the window of the 39th floor. I ordered Cod for entrees which was tender sweet and juicy and my friend ordered Bulgogi which was BBQ beef with a lot of side veggies. Overall we like the dinner. I have to say it was worth a try if you really pay attention to the environment. People come in business casual or smart casual which adds to a higher level. However I felt the restaurant week dinner was elegant in portion but just tastes a little bit light to me, which can be a reference if you have also a heavier taste like me."

  • "This was a good place to impress out of town guests. It's a bit pricey, but the views are impressive. They don't really enforce the dress code though, it seems. Food was good and enjoyable. I'm not a Korean food expert but it was all good. Request a window view at sunset!"

  • "Went for 30 year anniversary... arrived at 7pm... quickly seated... waitress very attentive but not overly considering the meat was cooked at our table... it was just right! The food was good... your not in Korea so don't expect it to be the same but all the side dishes were very good... look forward to going again 1 day... great people, service & good food hence the over all "very good" rating!"

  • "I think the place looked great and the views were fantastic. The staff was very good, very friendly and took time to take care of us. I had no issues with the food - it was well prepared and very pleasing to the pallet. One of the side garnishes was a little chewy but nothing terrible. It'a a great place near penn station and I would go there again."

  • "The space is gorgeous and the ambiance is to die for. However, it is really expensive ( two people $250 including a bottle of wine) I would not have minded the bill if the service was stellar. It took ten minutes after being seated to get water. The waitstaff seemed smug and unfriendly. It was quite a turnoff."

  • "I HAVE ALREADY STATED THAT EACH TIME I GO TO GAONNURI I ENJOY MYSELF......ONE OBSERVATION REGARDING THE GRILL TABLE NEXT TO THE FOOD SERVICE BAR IS FAR TOO NOISY AND THE SERVICE STAFF KEEP THE WINE BUCKETS NEXT TO THE TABLE........SOME NOISE CONTROLE MUST BE DONE HERE..............ANTHONY FERNANDEZ"

  • "Keep it up! so glad to have an upscale Korean place with great food to back it up. I have no complaints in all areas except it is a tad bit expensive. Think lunch should at least be a bit less than what they currently charge. but regardless, keep up the good work!"

  • "I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Very beautiful setting and amazing view. Food was really delicious! Usually Korean BBQ is more casual. Was nice to have it in a fancier setting."

  • "Wonderful views. Great atmosphere. Good food. Would definitely recommend."

  • "The food was terrific, as usual. I enjoyed the pork belly with sesame leaves and the smoky glass noodles. We appreciated that with the iPad the waiter could see whether a wine was out of stock without running back and forth to the cellar. Service was great, but when we asked the server about some buildings on the skyline, he confidently answered with information that was obviously wrong! We figured out our view anyway. We closed down the place (thought they were open until midnight!)--it's gorgeous any time of day!"

  • "The dinner menu is limited for a Korean restaurant, but it was good and the service was friendly. I would go again for the views we had during dinner."

  • "The korean restaurant has nice view, but staff is not like human. I feel they are just have to work and take care customer, it is robotism. Why the bathroom was located that area? I can not find by myself and receptionist never show us where it is first, because they are busy to check and play with her smart phone."

  • "A great upscale Korean BBQ in the heart of K-Town. You really can't beat the view but you also pay the price as the tab adds up fast. The meats are excellent cooked at your table however we were not allowed to cook our own meat as we could at other restaurants. The waiter does all the cooking. Tasty drinks and great servie make this a great option for delicious Korean BBQ."

  • "We had a great night...... The food was perfect and the atmosphere and view was spectacular.... But the best part was the service. We had the same server (Carrie) twice this week. She was great..... Especially with our son with multiple food allergies. She made him feel so comfortable and safe that Gaonouri is now his and our favorite restaurant!!! Thank you guys again"

  • "Food is great, view from the top of the building is amazing but the best part and the reason we are coming back Thursday is the amazing service. My son has severe food allergies and our server was perfect. She kept him safe while making him feel comfortable. Great night !!!!!!"

  • "I had a birthday dinner here for my girlfriend around 6pm on a Saturday in June. Before going I had made specific instructions to be seated at a window seat and that it was my gf birthday so something special should be prepared. Upon arrivingwe were greeted with kindness and shown to our seats by the window. Our waiter was attentive and the crowd at the time had not yet come in yet. So it was romantic as it was just the two of us. The food was good. As with a higher classed resturant the portions are smaller than usual. We ordered japchae, seafood stuffed tofu with greens, seafood pancake for entrees. The food was delicious. We then had the green tea ice cream ponzu parfait as the birthday dessert."

  • "A great hidden restaurant inside the bank building. The food is top notch, presented in a modern, sophisticated way, but more or less keeping with the usual Korean staples. The restaurant has a very luxurious feel to it, that is not usually seen with restaurants at this price range. Service is world class. While the savory food was very good, I'm not qualified to critique Korean food. The patisserie was top notch though, obviously trained in the French fashion, and up to date with NYC local trends. Presentation was modern and beautiful, flavors delicate and not overbearing, all executed with very good technique. It was definitely a pleasant surprise to end the meal."

  • "I took my girlfriend here for her 22nd birthday. First time for myself as well. Overall great place, food is great and you have a beautiful scenic view of Manhattan. Restaurant is located in a sort of office building. But the view is beautiful. If you want to take your significant other to somewhere romantic with good food and a great view. Than you should visit GAONNURI."

  • "I was surfing Open Table for a restaraunt close to an evening event we were attending. And this place fit the bill. Booked a table for 6 @ 8:30 (we were 1/2hr late and had lost 2 people?!). We were seated at a 4 top by the floor-to- ceiling windows right away. The views of the city at night from almost anywhere in the restaurant are astounding! The service was great! Efficient, friendly...not too clingy. And the food?...one word...WOW! Delish! OK, that's 2 words!"

  • "We stayed at the Radisson Martiniqe. The Gaonnuri entrance is just opposite the hotel entrance but still was difficult to find: work going on around the building. Our family of 2 adults, 3 kids (10,12,13) had the best dining experience so far on our 15-day visit to the US! The waitress was so kind and knew exactly what to recommend. We shared 3 barbecue plates and that was just enough for the 5 of us. It was served with excellent fresh salad and Korean veggies so we only had to order rice to go with it. For dessert, the waitress recommended Snickers bar but the kids had seen the meringues being flambe'ed at the neighbouring table so they took the BFBA. However, they didn't like the taste that much. Views were so great, took lots of pics!"

  • "Very stylized Korean food. Generally delicious but can be over-salty at times. Nice cocktail menu. Views can be spectacular if right window table is secured."
