  • "Brought my husband here to celebrate his 30th bday. It was perfect. Made a reservation for right before sunset by the window, so we were able to watch the sunset followed by the amazing night lights of the city. The food was fantastic as was the service. The Black Forest Cherry dessert was the best thing I've ever eaten in my life. The salmon was cooked perfectly. The mushroom salad appetizer was presented like a sushi roll and very unique. It was a bit more expensive than I'm used to paying for dinner but 100% worth it."

  • "I went to this place on a friday evening. The view of the city is good from 39th floor. Me and my husband are vegetarians and unfortunately there were NO vegetarian options in entree or main course. Neither were they ready to twist the dishes and make them vegetarian for us. The waiter just nodded her head saying there is no vegetarian option for you . What were we supposed to do then ? We got up and went out of the restauarant without ordering anything . I am never going back there again."

  • "This outstanding Korean restaurant was recommended by our daughter. Savoury appetizers. The Bulgogi barbecue was exceptional."

  • "This restaurant is all about the view and atmosphere. There is certainly better Korean food on the block. At first look at the menu, it seems like the prices are on par with the less atmospheric, bustling Korean eateries in the neighborhood. But the portions are much smaller making it difficult to share among groups. And there is something very disappointing about receiving DolSot Bibimbap pre-divided into smaller portions. The whole point of ordering this dish is to get the sizzling bowl with the crunchy rice bits on the bottom. All in all -- if you want to enjoy the view and feel a little fancy, you've got both here. I wouldn't come here specifically for the food."

  • "I love this place, good food, great service, nice views...but this time they fell short when I ordered DECAF coffee and specified it twice, I still got caffeinated coffee and could not sleep all night. It was NOT the waitress but a drink server. Great overall but avoid the coffee if you can't stand caffeine like me!."

  • "Great place to bring your Midwest relatives. They can enjoy the fantastic view and the amazing food (for their first time!). Service is always great. I highly recommend to everyone to try this spot."

  • "Our family just dined here on a weekend in the city. I chose it for the spectacular views, however it wasn't a good choice for a family with kids (2 teens, 9 year old) as the atmosphere is modern/austere and the Korean menu a bit adventurous. We had the Korean table barbq and the meat was delicious; potstickers were also good, but the other side dishes were underwhelming."

  • "I arrived at Gaonnuri at 5:55 p.m. and went to the table at 5:57 p.m. My husband arrived a bit later than I--at 6:04 p.m. I was served water by a pleasant young woman at around 6:00 p.m., but between 5:57 and 6:18 p.m. no one even asked whether we wanted to place a drink order. We were at the table for 20 minutes and we never even found out who our server was. I mentioned this to the pleasant hostesses on our way out; they apologized and said that they were going to find out who our server was, but by this time it was too late and we had to leave; we had an 8:00 p.m. curtain that we did not want to miss. The view is impressive and it is a pretty dining room, but I can't imagine going back after an experience like this."

  • "my family was visiting, and we went here for an early dinner before a show. the food was fantastic, and the view is to die for. the cod was by far the best dish, and everyone at the table had a great time. the service was not great. the waiters were fairly slow and unattentive."

  • "My new go to place for special occasions. This restaurant has amazing views. The service was great. We never felt rushed, and could sit back, relax, and enjoy for as long as we wanted to. I personally loved what I ordered (medium rare seared salmon, that just melted in my mouth for $24). However, my friend felt her entree (vegetable rice bowl for $20) was overprised, and not that great. I personally really enjoyed this restaurant and will be coming back."

  • "What a find! This Korean restaraunt is at the top of an office building in the Korean-restaraunt section of Midtown. We had the tasting menu and it was wonderful! Highly recommended. Go at night and enjoy the view."

  • "Yes, the view is impressive, but the food is why I keep coming back. The steak tartare is mindblowing, and like nothing you've had before. The deep fried tofu is a great lesson for people who say "I don't eat tofu", while the BBQ is so much fun. Most importantly, this place takes desert seriously - the deconstructed snickers bar is an art work, the flaming black forest thing... I mean, there's a Flaming. Black. Forest. Thing. Oh, and there happens to be a view of Times Square."

  • "Food was very good. We had the Table BBQ. Wish there was a bit more quantity when you ordered. Also, the sides selection was a bit limited. However, the experience was awesome. The table BBQ combined with the awesome skyline views makes this place a great experience. The wine list had a good selection of wines as well."

  • "The main feature of this restaurant on the 39-th floor of a building at the corner of 32 street and Broadway is the nighttime view of Manhattan. Add to that delicious Korean food and a managable wine list, combine for a super-romantic venue or for those looking to impress (a dateemployer, employee or a friend). Make sure to choose at least one table-BBQ dish. Any choice on the menu is hard to go wrong. The portions are appropriate size and did I say delicious?"

  • "Our dining experience was very disappointing. We went based on a recommendation and had been excited to go.The welcome was very friendly and were taken to our window table with a beautiful view. The girl who served us on the other hand seemed to have little to smile about, and looking after us was a chore. I ordered a soda that never came so I had to order again. We ordered the table BBQ and were told as we all had it would be cooked in the kitchen for ease. We assumed this was due to us ordering different meats. We saw everyone around us having the table BBQ this was upsetting. The food, amazing. The view was absolutely beautiful, we saw the sunset. Service ruined it. The manager apologised profusely and gave us a gift card.Too late then."

  • "The service was horrible. The maitre'd and her assistant are extremely rude and should not be in the hospitality business. Once seated, it took 10 minutes to get a glass of water. Servers are not friendly (with the exception of one). Food was good, but nothing you cannot have at half the price across the street. Will never be back."

  • "I'm a little disappointed with the experience as we were extremely rushed during our entire meal! We did the BBQ and despite telling our server repeatedly that we will cook, he ended up cooking all our meat - one after the other!! We ordered a bottle of champagne and some apps and wanted some time to talk and enjoy but because we didn't want the meat to get cold - pretty much felt forced to keep eating! I was not impressed! Also based on the amount of food we ordered we received very little kimchi. The overal ambiance was pleasant and the view was nice but not sure if I will be coming back!"

  • "Overall, the experience was great! Food was good (though a little pricey). The ambiance, including the spectacular view of the city skyline, took the experience to another level. The service turned out to be great. There was a leak in the ceiling right above our seating area. The staff was great in relocating us (and taking care of us, due to the inconvenience)."

  • "Came here for a dinner with the girls and we ordered the kalbi dolsot bibimbab and the bbq platter #2. The quality of the food was impeccable and the staff was very tentative. Definitely enjoyed our dinner overlooking the view of the sunset behind us and will be back again soon!"

  • "Gaonnuri has the best food quality/view quotient of just about any restaurant I've been to in the last few years. Perched 39 stories above midtown (with a memorable view of the Empire State from the bar...) the outlook is superb, day, evening or night. The food is always excellent and the service ranges from very good to outstanding but never falls below that. The desserts are fun, interesting and delicious, and the combination of appetizers and main courses has variety and nuance. I'm a huge fan of their steak tartare which is delicately spiced and terrific. We also had a fabulous and refreshing daikon salad and wonderful mushrooms. I've eaten this place almost ten times in the last 6-8 months and I have never been disappointed."

  • "This is my second time at Gaonnuri. The ingredients here are simply higher quality than other Korean restaurants and the preparation is better. Try the mixed mushroom appetizer, really wonderful flavor, scallion pancakes with seafood were great. The staff is very courteous and really tried to answer our questions. We noticed a lot of people visiting from abroad or people celebrating birthdays this is a good place to come for any occasion. I would highly recommend thus place for top quality Korean food."

  • "The interior is very contemporary and up-scale compared to other Korean restaurants, however the food was ordinary, service was just ok and I'd wish they'd lower the volume on the grinding piano music. The menu is limited, but it's not anything refined or innovative - it's the usual barbeque, bibimbop, jigae etc. Also, the portions were very small. Aside from the spectacular view, 2 things stood out during the meal, the servers were sweet though very sloppy and the Snickers Bar dessert was to die for. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this restaurant to my friends or family, because the food was nothing really special and the service was not what I expected for this "upscale" restaurant."

  • "I enjoyed the food. Only thing that wasn't great was the waitress, she could have been much better but at least our order wasn't wrong. The view is to die for and the concept is great. My first time dining in a fancy place."

  • "Delicious Korean fare (with occidental flare), extensive menu fit for carnivores and veterinarians alike. Excellent wine list and breathtaking views of NYC and NJ. Ideal for romance (and business too - what a balance!)."

  • "Dined here last Thursday night with some friends. Restaurant is on the top floor and has amazing views, but that's about it. The food is mediocre at best, Ive never heard of a Korean restaurant charging for rice! Not extra rice mind you, but the first bowl is $3.00!! Outrageous. That was a hint of what to come, the prices for entrees are ridiculous. $35 for 8 little pieces of galbi. Also, the wine pours are pathetic. I haven't seem prices this high at a Korean restaurant since being in London. Folks, this is koreatown in NYC, this restaurant will not survive charging these prices with mediocre food. There are so many better places in koreatown. I would not recommend this place."

  • "I've been wanting to try Korean BBQ for a long time. This place raised the bar in so many ways! The good was outstanding, the service was amazing and the decor was breathtaking. We were in shock, from the first bite to our last everything was delicious. I have been and will keep telling my friends and family members about this restaurant."

  • "The food was good without being excellent neither. Great place with amazing views. We were served the wrong appetizers and my dad ordered the black cod and has been told very late that there were no more cod. The duck breast was excellent ! And the noodles for the appetizer was very good. Be careful, the appetizers are really large size."
