Suggested Gaonnuri last night for dinner with friends and everyone loved the food, the view, and the overall experience. We had the sampler appetizer plate, galbi that we grilled at our table, and a bottle of wine. It was one friend's birthday and the restaurant helped us surprise him with Baked Alaska - which was delicious! I love this place.

Elegant spaced out tables, invisible but very attentive service, incredible views especially after sunset. Large bay windows all around the restaurant. This is a find. The food was good and plentiful. This place is absolutely not pretentious. A very pleasant evening for two . Cost was $106 with beer and tax for 2 a la carte, very reasonable for the location and everything.

This was our third or fourth time here. We love this place. The food is very good. I admit that some dishes are better prepared at other less scenic and attractive k-town restaurants, but others are the best here. I love their braised cod and the mushroom appetizer. But the views from this restaurant are fantastic. My kids, ages 11 and 14 like this restaurant a lot. And while there, I noticed many more tween / teen aged kids. Some parents / grandparents may be catching on.

Had a business dinner here, and my out-of-town clients were impressed with the view and the food. We all had the tasting menu prix fixe meal, which was beautifully presented but a bit too precious for me. I probably would have been happier ordering traditional items from the menu, as the dishes that came with this meal seemed more French than Korean. There was barely any garlic to be found throughout the 6 or so courses. Service was friendly, efficient and well-timed, so pretty much perfect in my view. If you want a traditional Korean food experience, there are better choices. If you want a somewhat exotic meal and amazing view to impress your out-of-town friends with, this is a pretty good choice.

We did the reservation thru Opentable.com and show up a little early. Unfortunately, the restaurante were unable to accommodate us at the table early, so we had to wait for a table to be available. It paid off! We got the best table available - with amazing view. The staff was really nice - which is common for a Korean restaurant. The food was great as well. Nice place! Great experience indeed!

food no better, no worse than down the street in K-Town, and 1/3 more expensive. But the service, view, smoke-free environs were very very nice, and worth the extra $$. would definitely go back if I needed an upscale place (out of town guests, business mtg, etc).

Very pricey. The views are very scenic...but I'd have to say I feel I got ripped off here. No typical Korean side dishes. You have to pay extra. You want a bowl of rice? Pay extra...their small order of pajun was two slices...overall my bill was extremely higher than a normal Korean dinner for two...

Try the Korean BBQ where you yourself grill your own meat. Simply awesome! The restaurant sits on the 39th floor with stunnign views over the Empire State Building or Hudson River.

A nice restaurant with a limited Korean menu. We had a group of 9 and with a reservation we had no issues being seated or served. Unfortunately no BBQ tables for a group that size. Another plus was vegetarian options and English speaking wait staff so we did have to guess about the food. I was disappointed in the diversity of the sides and the kimchi was only ok.

I have dined here a few times and I have to say that their food has GREATLY improved. I really enjoyed my meal from beginning to end and the 39th floor has great views :) Portions of meat bbq are small for the $, but tasty. I would personally prefer more side dish variety, considering the $, rather than a huge heap of shaved scallions, small portion of kimchi, small portion of creamed sweet potatoes and small portion of white radish, but you can always ask for more! Also, considering this is a Korean restaurant, it would be great to initially have more kimchi on the table and even a few different types of kimchi -- my fav is cucumbers... All together, a gem in ktown and very impressive.

Sitting in the 39th floor panthouse of an office building in Mid-town Manhattan, you get an amazing view of the surrounding neighborhood and the Hudson River. We had gone to K-town for seafood pancakes. There was a long wait for the restaurant we wanted. So, I took out my phone and hit the Open Table app. This one came up and we booked a reservation. It is improbably located on the 39th floor of an office building. However, the penthouse location provides amazing views. The place is expensive, even with restaurant week we managed to rack up a sizable bill. The food, however, was delicious (Korean BBQ and seafood pancakes plus dessert). The service is professional and responsive.

Wonderful food in a spectacular setting. The level of spice in the food was perfect. Enough to add to the complexity of the dish, not so much that it was uncomfortable to eat the food. Going during Restaurant Week with the price fixed menu was an added bonus. If there is any negative it is that the drinks, which are inventive and tasty, are slightly over priced.

Having only made a reservation for dinner the night before, I was very impressed to arrive and be told that all my requests had been fulfilled as we were seated at a grill table next to the windows so we could watch the sunset over the NYC skyline. It really was a beautiful experience but after a $200 dinner we were barely full and had to find other food to eat afterwards. Nice restaurant but it seems like we pay more for the view than the actual food. The deconstructed snickers bar was worth it though, so good!!

This was my first experience with Korean BBQ. I don't eat a lot of meat but decided to give it a try, knowing in advance the menu is very meat heavy. The restaurant was highly recommended to me by a friend for the spectacular city views (its on the 39th floor). The food was fantastic, good ambience and killer views. Also our server was friendly and took good care of us. I would recommend going here and have already done so with several friends.

The Service was impressive - all about the details, from the moment I entered the building. The food was very good. Some items more tasty than others. The dessert however was the highlight of my experience with the deconstructed snickers - YUM! I will try more seafood and Baked Alaska with a table right next to the window, hopefully, next time. I am Korean and have grown up eating and cooking traditional cuisine. The food here was great, but is probably the same level of taste and quality as other cheaper Korean restaurants. You are really coming here for the beautiful view and the ambiance. Food presentation was impeccable and the drinks were delicious as well. I am so glad I got to experience Gaonnuri during restaurant week, but would definitely try their regular menu. I also brought non-Korean friends and they were in love with the food and atmosphere as well.
