Food was quite good, wait service was excellent. Maitre'd did not seat us outside as requested in the reservation. Maitre'd said it was first come, but there was an open table when we came, and one that opened up within 5 minutes of our being seated. Music was loud rock and roll. Our waiter had trouble hearing us, we could not hear each other across the table. We asked that the music be turned down, to which the Maitre d' gave us a scowl. Drinks came, and the Mai-tai my spouse ordered had about 3/4 inch topping of whipped egg white. We had been told it was a small amount. My scotch martini was weak and came on the rocks, unusual unless you order it that way. Both drinks were sent back.

Everyone very friendly and personable at Gannon's from the bartenders to the hostess to the wait staff. Unpretentious and professional. Ate outdoors overlooking the golf course and the ocean . Spectacular view. I started with the carpaccio of beets with shaved fennel which was very good but maybe could have done with a little less fennel. I then had the fennel Chili crusted ahi with fried quail egg. It was excellent. Ahi was sashimi grade and just seared with nice raw interior. loved the risotto cake that went with it. My husband had the Fish special of the night which was also excellent.
We also ate at Gannon's for breakfast and have to say that it was the best breakfast we had during our 8 day stay. The omelets were excellent.

While this is a restaurant we rely on for great food, this time we were rather let down. Three of the four of us ordered the same thing and we all sent it back. Unfortunately, it wasn't much better the second time they made it. Thankfully, they were gracious enough to comp the dish for all three of us and our waiter handled it all beautifully.

The food, service and overall quality of the restaurant was amazing. It had a stunning view to top it off. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who visits Maui and would include it in you things that you MUST do when you are here.

As usual, the food here wass excellent. The pupus in the Red Bar are mouth-watering. Favorites are the Hot Crab Dip and Crab Sliders. (Do you sense a pattern here?) Lobster Bisque was elegantly served and a taste bud's delight!
