Diner Reviews
  • "For our last night in Vail, we had dinner at the Game Creek restaurant, and the experience was beyond my expectations. Everything from the greeting at the base of the gondola to the cake pops at the end of dinner was outstanding. The prix fixe dinner was amazing, and they even had an wonderful menu for kids which I appreciate very much. The snow cat ride was an adventure indeed - driving through unskiable paths and down a black diamond slope. It was an unforgettable evening to cap off our trip to Vail. We definitely saved the best for last."

  • "Enjoyed the gondola and snowcat ride, as well as the gorgeous sunset. Food was good, my lamb was delicious, but the rest of the meal was not outstanding. Definitely fun for something different, but I would not return. Read the reviews and suggestions, so came up early for a sunset drink, but the bar is not open for non-members and not at dinner time. Also, I had not realized (maybe I should have done more research) that the menu was prix fix. Not a favorite thing of mine! But, happy to have tried it once."

  • "The Game Creek is quiet a treat. From the gondola ride to the snowcat ride to the lodge. Matthew our server was spot on with his recommendations. The cuisine was superior. Awesome view of the mountains and sunset. We could see Avon and the snowcats in beaver creek. This place is special. A must, when in Vail. I can't wait to go back."

  • "We celebrated my husband's 50th birthday here recently and had an amazing time. It was a snowy evening and just a beautiful ride up the mountain and in the snowcat. Our waiter was very knowledgable and professional. We did the tasting menu and it was delicious!! The foie gras dish was excellent, the sea bass was incredible, and the elk was divine! The only tiny complaint I would have is that for a tasting menu, some of the portions were a little large. We hated to waste it because it was so good, but the two main course dishes could have been much smaller portions and still been excellent and filling. I would highly recommend this experience and food to anyone."

  • "A rare and truly marvelous experience from the snow cat ride to the dessert. Incredible food (even for vegetarian), excellent and unusual wine pairings, relaxing ambiance with stunning and romantic sunset, attentive wait staff (without being invasive). All-in-all, a memorable dining experience we will long remember and plan to share with friends in the future. Don't miss this one!"

  • "We have eaten here one evening in March during each of our one or two weeks stays in Vail for the last three years. It is pricy but it is always treat for a special occasion or when we have a guest that hasn't been up on the mountain before. The snow cat ride is really a neat experience and they will often let one or two guests ride up front if asked, a real experience especially for kids. Try their early menu and watch the sunset. Spectacular view!"

  • "What a great experience! It was fun taking the gondola and then the snow cat up to the restaurant. Usually the food is mediocre and over priced at these kinds of places, but the food was fantastic! Some of the best food we had in Vail."

  • "An outstanding experience, as well as an outstanding meal. A gondola and snow-cat ride to the lodge in a snowstorm really set the mood. The pork belly starter and lobster bisque were both excellent. Salad is very small. The entree was a good size, and absolutely delicious. Two parties had the duck, and the other had the lamb. Duck was excellent, lamb even better -- served with 5 different sides on the plate to combine the flavor with, and all were great. The dried, salted olives, and the slightly Indian-spiced pureed carrots were particularly good. The cheese plate was the best dessert, partly because it came with a small bit of truffle honey, which was a taste experience! A strong combination of umami and sweetness -- awesome!"

  • "Game Creek never disappoints. The food is stellar. The knowledge of the staff is superior. The experience with the snowcat ride and gondola at night and being on Vail Mountain at night is unparalleled!"

  • "Game Creek is top notch. Unbelievable Take the gondola and sno-cat to the restaurant at dusk. WOW Ambiance: Fantastic lodge decor with elegance Food: Fantastic prix fixe dinner. Pricey of course $100-$300 pp (but the experience is worth it. I had the pork belly starter (So good) and my main course lambchops- so meaty and uniquely delicious I dont know how to describe them. All suggested by my waiter Good call! My dinner partner was equally impressed with her fish/veg choices Service: Friendly and attentive. Our waiter a bit high strung but he calmed down and the manager was super nice and noticed every little thing that could be improved for us. Together, they took excellent care of us and, f all their guests. Bravo!"

  • "A trifecta of perfect food, service and view! It was the best experience I have ever had in a restaurant. I recommend you reserve well in advance and early in the evening to witness a glorious sunset in the Rockies. The water steered us to one Chef’s tasting and one price fix set of choices so we could share seven plates. Every dish was wonderful, especially the elk and sea bass. The place is accessible only by the Lionshead Gondola, then a short but memorable ride on a snow cat with a luxurious heated cabin and first class seating."

  • "Too many kids and overpriced for what it was. We made a late reservation of 830 and there were families with infants and todlers. Restaurant should not allow kids after a certain time. The $$$ it cost to eat there people don't want to have kids around them and enjoy their meal. You could hear dishes clanking around all night even though it wasn't an open kitchen. Honestly there are way nicers restaurants in Vail. If you want to go to a restaurant on the mountain try the one in Beaver Creek called Beeno."

  • "Game Creek in Vail was a fun experience. The service was excellent however the food was not up to par for such a neat place. The ambience was great! I'd probably go back but would like to see the food match the prices."

  • "We have been to Game Creek three times this winter and each time the food quality and service has been outstanding. The enclosed snow cat ride to the Restaraunt is really fun. Our kids (7 and 11) enjoy the experience and vthe staff treat them like valued guests. Our favorites are: On the Green cocktail, pork belly appetizer, scallop entree, and the duck entree."

  • "Game Creek is an excellent restaurant. Food was excellent, service was excellent, and the location is outstanding. We went to the restaurant in February. The ride up the gondola and snow-cat to the restaurant make this a very, very memorable experience. The restaurant is situated on the side of the mountain with amazing views. the restaurant has a very European, yet mountain lodge look and feel. Absolutely beautiful restaurant!"

  • "This is a great dining experience and an adventure. You first take a 15 minute ride up vail mountain in a gondola followed by a 10 minute snowcat ride to the restaurant. The food was outstanding 2 of us had a 3 service option and 2 choose the 4 service option. The restaurant is in a huge wonderfully decorated wooden cabin and the food was exquisite. My only complain was that our waiter was a little over the top in one upmanship."

  • "Very cool to ride the snowcat up the mountain. The club is beautiful inside and the tasting menu was inventive and all courses were delicious. They seems overwhelmed when we dined there, though, and it took almost 1/2 hour to get drinks and bread to the table. They do have a kids' "tasting menu", which was a nice option, considering how expensive their regular menu is."

  • "This was a great experience from beginning to end. From the ski lift quad ride, to the snow cat ride to the door of the restaurant and to the fantastic food, presentation and service. Game Creek knows how to provide a first class experience. The lamb was prepared better than I have ever tasted--and I eat lamb out often. It was succulent, tasty and perfectly cooked. In fact, all items we tried were excellent. The staff is courteous and completely professional from start to finish. Highly recommend. Wonderful wine list and great sommelier."

  • "One of the things my wife and I will never forget is a ride to the restaurant to the top of the mountain! First, we had to take Gondola ride and then we were transported to the very door of the Game Creek Club by snowcat. Cozy and luxury ambiance was matched with exceptional service and delicious dishes. I would highly recommend Game Creek Club as a romantic night out with a little bit of adventure, great food and exceptional service!"

  • "The experience was everything I expected. Gondola ride to snowkat was awesome. We did not feel that our server was very friendly. He seemed rushed and not very good people skills. The ancillary staff, busboys and girls, mater dei were excellent. Food was fair, except for the main course, The steak and lamb chops were excellent."

  • "We made reservations at Game Creek for a birthday dinner. The ride in the Gondola and Snowcoach made it an adventure getting there, but we couldn't really see as it was dark so it didn't really add to our experience or detract from it. The food was excellent, and none of our group of five were "foodies" and we were unfamiliar with most of the dishes. The service was superb and the wait staff were kind enough to help us with our choices. The meal was very expensive, but we were glad to have had this experience and to us, the expense was worth the it!"

  • "My husband and I went to Vail for a quiet romantic getaway without the kids and choose to make reservations here based on reviews from other people. It really couldn't have been more perfect. You take a short romantic gondola ride up to the top of the mountain and then take a small snow cat ride to the restaurant (quite fun, as I'm sure like me you probably have not had an opportunity to do this before). The staff and ambiance worked well for the experience, but THE FOOD IS.WOW!! The food was absolutely amazing. I'm not going to lie, this place is expensive (our bill was 300 for just the two of us), but we chose to look at it as a whole amazing experience not just dinner out. Well worth every penny. You will not regret choosing Game Creek."

  • "We gave been visiting the Game Creek Restaurant for many years. We travel from Australia every year to ski Vail and the trip is never complete without a visit to Game Creek Restaurant. It is the whole experience we enjoy.....the snow cat transportation with great drivers, the wonderful food, wine and atmosphere of the restaurant. The staff are also amazing and just add another dimension to the experience. Thanks, we will be back next year!"

  • "What a fantastic spot to have a great New Year's Eve dinner. Upon arrival at the Lionshead gondola, you are whisked away on a beautiful night-time trip up to the Game Creek lodge via gondola and snowcat. The snowcat trip was a particular treat for my group, as almost all of us had never taken one. Once we arrived, the manager (Steve) was overwhelmingly helpful in making sure we were situated for dinner. Rief, our server, was both funny and helpful. The food was on-time and the service perfect. The food was fanastic, and the entire restaurant cheered when the clock struck midnight. Overall, our favorite dinner at Vail. Steve and Rief were fantastic, and the chef should be commended for the food! Highly recommend."

  • "Outstanding experience riding the gondola and then the snowcat to Game Creek Club, with spectacular views. Food was superb with the best Mediterranean lamb dish I have ever had. The service was earnest and eager to please, but a little rushed for that level of dining."

  • "Very ordinary. We have dined here a number of times over the last 5 years but this visit did not come close to matching the others. Trip to Game Creek is usually part of the experience but we were greeted with a traffic jam at the top of the gondola. We waited way to long for a snow cat. We had the same experience after dinner. Dinner service was slow; we waited forever for our first course; after this course, service improved. Lobster bisque was very disapointing; really a fish soup with small pieces of lobster. Entree selections were ordinary; nothing special or an entree that is worth the journey. That being said, the plating was fantastic. Expected more for the high price for fixed price menu."

  • "The Game Creek Restaurant is certainly off of the beaten path. You take the Gondola and then a snow cat to a one of a kind location. But it is WORTH every minute it takes to get there. The view is magical, the food is incredible, and the staff and service were all top notch. Put this restaurant on your list of must-dos while in Vail."
