A word from Gaido's Seafood Restaurant
The toast of the Texas coast.
How can frozen fish be called fresh? The answer for anyone with snap is simple: it can’t. That’s why Gaido’s is the classic choice for fresh Gulf seafood. Patrons know Gaido’s is real, when others are clearly not. From red snapper and blue crab to white tablecloths crumbed with panache, there’s no denying Gaido’s is one-of-a-kind in a world of imitation. Now, after four generations of filleting, frying, grilling and baking, Gaido’s has grown into the picture perfect place of traditions– birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, reunions. As the largest fresh fish house on the coast, Gaido’s can serve up to 2,500 happy diners a day. Plus, with the Pelican Club, private dining, catering, a new food truck and parking galore…it’s easy to see why Gaido’s -– for over 100 years – is truly the coastal classic.Continued

  • "I have been here any times in my life and finally got to take my kids. They enjoyed the "fancy" restaurant. Food was great and so was the staff when they listened and brought out everything we ordered."

  • "We always eat at least one meal at Gaido's when we visit Galveston. The food is excellent. We enjoyed the Jazz Martni (crab, large shrimp, alvacado), Scallops, Amberjack, & wine. The food is always prepared & presented prefect."

  • "Gaidos food was tasty but was overpriced for the quality. I would not EVER go back. Their seafood is just "OKAY", I've had better at Pappa's and at several other places on Galveston Island that are FAR less expensive"

  • "A true neighborhood gem!! Delicious Food!! Great Service!!"

  • "The food and the service were both excellent! From the ease of making the reservation all the way through dessert, we couldn't have asked for a better experience! Thank you Open Table and Gaidos!"

  • "Wow so good.Multiple kinds of fish to choose from with multiple ways to prepare it."

  • " Celebrated my mother's 79th birthday with a group of eight. Made a reservation but had to wait almost an hour for part of our group to arrive because they were delayed by the ferry. We were seated and there was no rush put on by the waiter. He was fine with us just sitting and waiting. The food was excellent and the service was too. We all had a wonderful meal and a wonderful time. We will be going back!"

  • "Expensive food, snobby and inattentive servers.Paid way too much for what we got. Waited long times for everything. This was at 5 on a weeknight so they werent' too busy. The server was a snob. She never took a drink order. Never brought several things we asked for. We ate at several places in Galveston and this was our worst experience."
    Dined on 7/24/2014
  • "waiter was a little green, but did produce good results. waited 10 minutes past our reso. we were early too."

  • "This restaurant was recommended to us and we made a reservation for dinner while on vacation in Galveston. The experience was wonderful, from the server Lauren (Awesome) to the exceptional food that was served to us. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone vacationing in Galveston. It was an excellent dining experience!"

  • "We live in Houston and I have been going to Giado's on business or pleasure 2-4 times per year since 1976. A reservation is at least an agreement and probably more of a contract. We agree to be there on time and the restaurant agrees to have a table ready for us. Gaidos evidently has no respect for reservations any longer. Our reservation was for 6:45. We were there at 6:40. Party of 8. Another party of 8 with an earlier reservation that they were late for showed up about 6:50 and was seated before we were. Two trips to the greeter and two talks to managers and we were seated at 7:20. Totally unacceptable. If you are looking for a smooth dining experience don't go to Gaidos."

  • "The food at Gaido's never dissapoints. The lobster bisque is quite simply sublime...actually went back two days later to get a bowl to-go! And the fish is as fresh and delicious as it gets. Gaido's is a must for any visit to Galveston. (As long as your wallet can take the hit!)"

  • "Never disappointing! Always freshly prepared! Their crab cakes are amazing and I always have their shrimp bisque!"

  • "We visited with a party of 6. We were greeted right away and taken to our table within minutes. The food was wonderful, clearly a place to go for seafood. The wait staff did an excellent job throughout the evening."

  • "My husband and I visited Gaido's after a day on the seawall and felt as if we weren't welcome because we were NOT dressed up. We did NOT have swimsuits on but had shorts and a sleeveless shirt. After we read the sign at the front door stating "No Coat Required" we decided to go in for dinner but did NOT feel welcomed. Because I had eaten at Gaido's many years ago and highly enjoyed the food we decided to wear slacks and 'non' sleeveless shirts with a reservation on the following evening. We were promptly greeted and seated. After enjoying a glass of fabulous wine I ordered a bottle of beer. It was clear the brand I ordered was available in a bottle. However, she served it to my table in a glass. The food was great but we will not return."

  • "Great sea food! We went there for our anniversary on a Friday night when arrived in Galveston. My wife had the stuffed crab and I had the red snapper. Both were fantastic. We liked it so much, we went back for lunch on Monday just before we left Galveston. Only complaint is they don't have a lunch menu."
    Dined on 7/18/2014
  • "The food we ordered was great! Due to the freshness of offerings, they run out of items early in the evening. Our reservation was at 7:30pm and they were out of the Stuffed Flounder (my #1 choice) and the Mahi Mahi (my #2 choice!) The Golden Tile fish I chose was still great but wished I had an earlier reservation to ensure we had more options. Great restaurant - request an ocean view!"

  • "The food was excellent and the two waitresses were great. The only thing which was a problem was that there were three or more flies on the window and they were inside, that's a real drawback for a place of your caliber. Also the bread that was put out when we first arrived was old and stale."
    Dined on 7/14/2014
  • "My party order a variety of items from the menu, but in particular the red snapper platter was disgusting. The avocados were old, tasted horrible! The fish was very dry! I have eaten there about a 1.5 year ago, that time the food was fantastic. I was take aback to see the poor state of the menu. I think the menu changed and removed quite a few of the items. Also, perhaps the original chefs left or something changed at the top. This was not a pleasant experience."

  • "Our family considers it a treat to go to Guidos. We go for birthdays. ..anniversaries and anytime we want a really good dinner in a beautiful setting. It's a wonderful place to dine...not just to eat."

    Dined on 7/11/2014
  • "My wife and I really enjoyed our meal. Food was very good and our waiter made helpful suggestions with the preparation for a fish I was not familiar. The reason for four stars and not 5 was the bar was slow in getting our drinks to the table and iced a port that was meant to be clean. It was a $14 drink, so a little disappointing. We didn't have the opportunity to send back as if was so slow to reach our table."

  • "The staff at Gaido's went out of their way to make our anniversary dinner memorable. Our server Florin and another server Kate were very knowledgable, attentive and professional. The chef even made it a point to come to our table to insure that we had a great experience. We will try and eat there at least once every trip we make to Galveston. We felt almost like royalty with the service we received. Thank you to Gaido's staff."

  • "My sister took me to Gaido's for my 70th birthday lunch. As a Houston native, I have been to Gaidos in the past, but not in more than 40 years. I lived outside the area for that amount of time. Going back to a place you have fond memories of is always a risk, but this turned out to be a terrific return. I chose the blackened red fish, as the waiter recommended, and it was cooked perfectly. Service was attentive and responsive. The ambience is that of a long term restaurant that has earned is reputation. it was comfortable. not flashy or trendy, but then neither am I. Its a long drive to Galveston's seawall from my place northwest of Houston, but worth every mile. I will return again soon."

  • "A friend and I chose to dine at Gaido's before attending a TEXAS TENORS concert at The Grand Opera House. We were not disappointed. Arriving shortly before the time of our reservation, we were seated promptly by a window table. The cocktails were excellent as was the appetizer we ordered. This was followed by our entree served in a timely manner, but not before we finished the appetizer. This was much appreciated. Our entree was exactly as we had ordered; we finished up by sharing a delicious dessert. The food was plentiful and well presented. The service was prompt, but not intrusive. We will return."

  • "The last time I was there was 1970 with my parents and family friends who lived in Galveston. They belonged to the Private Dining Club and even though that is not where we dined I was very surprised at how casual the entire business had become. No valet parking, the front lot was open to beach parking (first come....). There was an abundance of shell material in both the crab cakes and the crab fingers, not what I expected. I had made a reservation as soon as I knew we were going to Galveston, yet on arrival we had to wait as long as the swimsuit walk ins. When the hostess took us to a table next to screaming infants I told her that we would go elsewhere unless something else was available, so she had us stand by that table."
