A word from Gaido's Seafood Restaurant
The toast of the Texas coast.
How can frozen fish be called fresh? The answer for anyone with snap is simple: it can’t. That’s why Gaido’s is the classic choice for fresh Gulf seafood. Patrons know Gaido’s is real, when others are clearly not. From red snapper and blue crab to white tablecloths crumbed with panache, there’s no denying Gaido’s is one-of-a-kind in a world of imitation. Now, after four generations of filleting, frying, grilling and baking, Gaido’s has grown into the picture perfect place of traditions– birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, reunions. As the largest fresh fish house on the coast, Gaido’s can serve up to 2,500 happy diners a day. Plus, with the Pelican Club, private dining, catering, a new food truck and parking galore…it’s easy to see why Gaido’s -– for over 100 years – is truly the coastal classic.

We chose to come to Gaidos for the first time for our Anniversary. However, the girl at the reservation podium was not friendly. The service was great and our server Kristen S. was great! The only thing is she forgot to order our crab cake but it was okay because she made up for it by making our night so special until we didn't even mention it to her. The food was good but my husband complained that he was not give a whole piece of catfish that it was cut in half and that his seafood platter was not worth the cost. The asparagus is great there and we enjoyed the pecan pie but did not know that is was going to be served hot so we regret not getting the ice cream on top. Overall, it's a nice place to dine at night with a date.

For the price, the restaurant is average. Service is sporadic-great when server is near but significant gaps. Long time to get served and difficult to get service in between stages of the overall meal. Appears restaurant is living off of past success. Better options available.

I enjoyed my dinner at Gaido's. It was nice to patronize a restaurant that has been in business for so long. Good food and great service. I ordered the scallops blackened and though I learned that that style of cooking scallops is not my favorite, the food was still good. The chocolate brownie cake with ice cream was soooo yummy.

The food was great, the best seafood in the houston-galveston area. Its a must try. My husband had the tile fish and I had a seafood combination with snapper. We both loved our dishes and that pecan pie with ice cream so good.

We were seated within just a few minutes. The water was prompt and friendly. Fish dishes we had were good with average portions. I had golden tile with parmesan crust and asparagus. Was very tasty and good portion size. Others had a special of stuffed flounder which they said was good but a little bland. The ceasar salads were large and fresh tasting with slightly tangy dressing.

I ordered a spicy bloody Mary which was watered down, my husband had a beer which was flat. For dinner I ordered what the server recommended which was ahi tuna blackened with the "Nick" topping. Both of these were supposed to have a lot of spice, seasoning and flavor. What was served to me was the most bland piece of fish I have ever eaten. I had 2 bites and simply didn't want to swallow anymore. My husband got the stuffed shrimp which also were supposed to be spicy but came out more like brown sugar over the top sweet stuffed shrimp. A good server should notice when she takes the plate and your entire entree is still there. All in all I feel the food was ok. Nothing spectacular and for the price I should have gone to Landry's.

Great seafood that is well prepared. Shrimp cocktail while not big is of top quality, fresh and perfectly cooked. Little pricey but portions of fish are enough to satisfy a hungry diner. Been in business for 103 years for a reason. Only significant improvement would be if it was built over the water like Scomas in Sausalito, CA.

This was our first time to Gaido's. Our waiter had little knowledge of the menu or wine list. He kept repeating that he was new but didn't offer to find out the answers to our questions. His service was spotty and the food was mediocre. The only highlight of the night was the pecan crunch dessert. We will not be returning or recommending this restaurant. We have previously dined at the Pelican Club and were very impressed. We will definitely return there!

We decided to go with the special fish of Saturday evening--Tile Fish. although we had never eaten it before, our server did a nice job of describing the rather rare opportunity to fish for it, the special depth one has to go to harvest it--as well as the delicate texture and mild flavor. My husband and I typically each get a salad or soup and then split the entree. He had a cup of gumbo, I had the three-soup sampler--both great. We went with the server's preparation recommendation for the Tile Fish--broiled and then we chose the topping--callee, I think, Maria--a creamed crab topping--great! One portion was perfect for the two of us. We don't do dessert--so, along with a nice bottle of a Willamette Valley Pinot Noir-we were happy.

I went to Giados on Sept 24th. At the time the waitstaff were great. We had a great meal and the waiter at the time was great. My companion had placed her phone in the chair next to her and we left without remembering to get it. After we arrived back to our hotel we noticed this and I called to see if it had been found. I talked with some lady that placed me on hold and I was on hold for 12 minutes until I went back and walked in still on hold. I asked reservastions and they said they would check. came back 5 min later said no phone. I sated it was in the chair at oor table. Ignored me so asked waited to check. said he couldn't. Went over and asked patron to look found phone in chair. No help from staff. Very Disappointed in that service,

We had dinner here on September 19th and were disappointed. We arrived on time for our reservation at 6:30 and were seated at 6:45. Due to extremely slow service, it was nearly 8:30 before we were finished with our meal. The complimentary bread was good as was the shrimp martini appetizer. The crab cake appetizer was fine but nothing spectacular. I had the fried stuffed shrimp and potato wedges - the outside crust on the shrimp was overdone, the stuffing was very underdone and the shrimp did not taste fresh. The potato wedges were no better than frozen ones. My husband had a seafood combination platter that was average at best. We had the Crème Brulee for dessert which was very good. It was definitely not worth the $100 bill.

We've been going to Gaido's for over thirty years and, as always, it's a wonderful meal. I had snapper almandine, our friends had the mixed grill and the Cobb tower. All were exceptional. They only disappointment was the soup trio (which is usually great) was just ok. Service was quite good.

It has been quite a few years since we had last dined a Gaido's with our (then) young children. In the intervening years, Gaido's has been the yardstick by which which we measured our family dining experiences. With this visit, we found the same extraordinary service and excellent food we remembered. The atmosphere was the same mix of elegance and hospitality in an enlarged and expanded facility. It was so rewarding to find our expectations from the past fulfilled and surpassed by the reality. Food, service, ambiance, everything was impeccable. It certainly will not be decades until our next return.

We were disappointed in the good at Gaido's. From the bread which had little body to lobster bisque soup which had virtually no lobster in it, to fried shrimp which was pale and under cooked, tasting more processed than fresh. Sadly, we won't be back.

Fast forward to six years later and we went back this past Saturday to celebrate our sixth wedding anniversary. The food was just as excellent as the first time we dined there. We have been several times throughout the years but wanted to go for our anniversary this year. We were not dissapointed. Can't wait to go back again.

The meals came to fast for us to finish our appetizers. The resuturant was not super busy, its was mid evening and we had reservations. We should have had time for out meal.

We declined but he insisted that we allow him to get us something, his treat. He returned with the best creme brulee I've ever had that said happy anniversary on the plate in raspberry glaze.
