  • "Greystone was always a favorite of ours. But we were pleasantly surprised when we returned this year. The food was delicious and imaginative. The waiter was knowledgeable and very professional. The restaurant looks identical, but has been transformed. "

  • "I ordered the marinated tuna for lunch. It was quite spicy and I asked the waiter for bread. The waiter said they do not serve bread with lunch but he then agreed to bring two biscuits to the table. My friend ordered the mushroom crapes which she said were very good. The service was good although I had to tell the waiter when he brought the check that I was interested in ordering coffee. The decor has not changed since Gatsby's took over management."

  • "I've dined here at the new Gadsby's now several times for lunch and dinner. The food is always delicious from the apps to the dessert. Not to mention they have a great wine and beer list! After enjoying every single experience I've had there, I just knew I had to try out their brunch. Needless to say, we left happy. We decided on the chicken and waffles, eggs with baggage (pulled pork with bbq was awesome!), and the best stuffed french toast I've ever had. Everything was well presented and Mike was spot on with his menu suggestions. We loved everything! We tried two of their new cocktails: the kiwi and the champagne cobbler. I can't wait to go back again to try the rest of their spring drinks! Great food, great service, great job, Gadsbys!"

  • "Innovative food combinations without excessive flavoring. The menu was somewhat limited but still interesting, and the food delicious. Perhaps a bad Saturday evening for them, but our specific waiter was inattentive to insulting, and the general service environment somewhat disorganized with a lack of apparent experience. I think this would be a favorite restaurant if they could arrange for a reasonable level of service."

  • "We ate at Gadsby's on a Saturday night in March. We were seated immediately and greeted quickly by our server, Todd. The décor has not changed since the space was the Greystone Grill. The food and service was much better than reviews would have you believe. Todd was always available and had excellent suggestions. We started with butternut squash soup and the tomato salad, both very good. Entrees were the poached salmon and the steamed mussels. Both were excellent and were plated nicely. We also shared a double chocolate fondant cake, which was the only disappointment of the evening..it was like eating dense fudge. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and will definitely go back, especially if the menu changes (it is quite limited as it stands)."

  • "We are certainly glad that we came here with a voucher (Groupon). We would have felt exploited had we decided to spend over $100 on a meal here. The food was very good. The gnocchi appetizer was slightly too saucy, but the flavors were excellent. The salmon entree was delicious, as was the stuffed pork loin selection. The drink I ordered (Cigar Lover's Manhattan) was well-presented and mixed superbly. The real issue here is the service. Both slow and inattentive, the server failed to clear evidently dirty plates from the table after each course and even dropped off some dirty plates at our table before returning to grab them. Our sparkling water glasses were filled with still water numerous times, and we were apologized to about every 5 min"

  • "We used fixed price Groupon so our menu selections were somewhat limited. Unfortunately, we were not happy with our meals. The stuffed pork tenderloin was overcooked, tough and tasteless. The rib eye steak was better but nothing special. They are trying very hard to be an upscale restaurant and where the ambiance and service are very good, they have a lot of work to do to improve the quality of the food. It is not worth what they are charging. Maybe there are better choices on the full menu but we were very disappointed with our meals. Since we didn't enjoy our entrees much, we decided to get a dessert to share. No prices were on the dessert menu and we were surprised to see that the very small dessert we had cost $9 when we got the bill."

  • "We had a wonderful appetizer, but the food went down from there. The entrees took an extremely long time to arrive, and we had to request our water glasses get refilled multiple times. When the entrees finally arrived, the meat was not hot and fatty. For the price"

  • "I would have liked to see a bit more change in décor. It still feels like the previous restaurant. However this had no bearing on how we felt about the overall review. My husband had the filet mignon and it was an excellent cut and cooked perfectly. I had the risotto dish and although it was delicious, the risotto was a bit starchy. I was disappointed that I did not order the butternut squash ravioli. I had asked the server which dish was going to hit the mark and he had no opinion. The server should know what dishes are working consistently. We enjoyed the wine and beer list. We would definitely try Gadsby's again. We are the kind of people who go out to eat for special occasions."

  • "Sat. night, NOT busy. Food marginal. Server not attentive/personable. Young man bringing bread didn't have enough dinner rolls for us; said he would bring them. We had to ask again; and then he just gave rolls to the man in our party without offering to the women. We had to ask him as he walked away. After meals were served our waiter disappeared. For a LONG time. We were ready to leave, had credit card out in front of me on my wallet. When server finally came he reached across the table, grabbed card saying he would bring the check back. He should never just grab a card without asking; we said something when he returned and he did not understand that he should ask first, he said it was ok because he told us he was doing it as he did it."

  • "Some highlights and lowlights at this relatively new spot. The tuna tartare was very good. Large portion size and the crema was to die for. The butternut squash ravioli and the gnocchi were both strong dishes but not the best I've ever tried. The mussels were definitely not something I'd try again. Many of them tasted quite off, and a few were not even open. That was pretty disappointing. The truffle dessert is extremely fun in presentation and absolutely delicious. Service was really attentive and friendly, which made the disappointing food not as bad. Gadsby's is still working out the kinks, it seems. I'll probably give it another chance after they've had some months to tidy up their dishes."

  • "Bought the Groupon that gives you 2 glasses of wine, 1 appetizer and 2 entrees. Entrees were small. If this is the size of the normal entree, then prices are very high. Started the meal with bread being placed on the table. My friend got corn bread and I got a roll. We didn't ask, they placed it. Odd we did not get the same bread or the option. Waiter was very nice."

  • "We had the same waitress, Paris, who is very friendly, but a bit over-ingratiating. They were out of the pork loin, so I had the prime rib from their prix fix menu. (Groupon) My prime rib was cooked well, not medium, as I'd requested. The second one that was brought out was such a poor cut of meat- fatty, tough, and not very flavorful. The savory bread pudding served with it was hard and just tasted stale. The gnocchi appetizer, however, was great! The house red was pleasant. I did not care for the chocolate cake, although the ice cream and bay leaf syrup were tasty. The cake itself was quite bland. The restaurant itself is attractive, modern, but still warm. The selections I had our first visit were great! Tuna tartare is out of sight!"

  • "Valentine's day dinner at Gadsby's left me feeling like something was missing. Each of the five courses had a unique flavor, but I felt the execution of the food was a little off. For the price, I'd expect something a bit more refined. A couple examples: 1. The rockfish was overcooked as the fish wasn't flaky and more of a mushy consistency. 2. The lamb was overpowered by baked beans which made the overall dish taste like a typical pot roast. 3. Most dishes had the same green leafy garnish. The appearance of the dish (other than the plating) seemed to be an afterthought. That being said, the butternut squash cappuccino was delightful and so were the scallops."

  • "I had the great opportunity to visit GADSBY'S on Valentine's Day with my girlfriend. It was the most enjoyable and delicious, in all the sense of the word, experience, I've in many years. Not only the staff is very courteous and attentive, we did not have to wait at all to be seated, the food was simply spectacular. We had a 5 course dinner in which each plate was creative and so delightful not to say delicious. I wish chef Robert the best and I will definitely be returning to be amazed by his very talented cuisine. Kudos!"

  • "The food was amazing, despite the Groupon limited menu. I had the fish and chips and my hubs had a steak. The only thing that I would like to see changed is the decor....I remember coming here when it was Greystone Grille for a staff luncheon circa 2001. Exact same decor 13 years later. Time for some white leather seating and sexy lighting. When you see $$$ for the menu price, you just come to expect a little fancy decor, particularly when diners like me often go to DC and Bmore for special occasion dinners. But the food was sooooo good, that I will be back. Really that's all that matters when it comes down to it."

  • "I was excited to try the food, especially after reading the chef's bio. I think so many components are close to being very good, but the execution struggled. The hostesses were fumbling and gave us the wrong menus. As a starter, they had a choice of fresh breads. Nice touch. Unfortunately, my husbands biscuit was still frozen on the inside...not quite as fresh as touted. I had the butternut squash soup, which was very tasty, but cold. For dinner, I had the salmon with bok choy and mushrooms. The broth was delicious, but the salmon was completely overcooked. I am all for crispy skin, but charred and dry is not how I would define it. Overall, for the price, I think the execution should have been better."

  • "Everything we ordered was fantastic EXCEPT I ordered the filet mignon. For a $31.00 entre this was a sub par piece of meat. Prepared very nicely but a bit tough and a bit of gristle. Acceptable if the price was $20.00. For $30+ it should be perfect. Too bad because everything else we had was first rate and prepared perfectly!"

  • "Bought groupon which included 4 entrees, 2 apps, 4 glasses of wine ($90). First, the wine choices were a house white or red, not a huge deal. Second, in choosing two apps between four people, we would have liked to have seen dishes that could be easily shared so we chose the crab hash cake and seared tuna. The crab hash had little to no crab, included one cake and tasted like a hash brown. The seared tuna was hard to eat, dark purple and lacked flavor. Then came the entrees, from about 8 choices, we went with Rib Eye Steaks, Lamb T Bone, and salmon. No one finished their plate, salmon was dry, overcooked, drenched in a broth. Steaks were ok, but presentation and sides were not good. The lamb t-bone lacked flavor and presentation."

  • "The Greystone Grill has morphed into a new restaurant - although some of the signs outside haven't changed, the decor is pretty the same... There is a new menu ... a little more creative with a focus on local products. Peppered tuna and crab cake appetizer were tasty, just shy of melt in your mouth. The salmon entree was cooked good, unusually served in a ginger broth which could have had more zing to it. The chips and fish were okay - the hazelnut cheesecake did seem to melt in your mouth. Overall, the food was good, some of it better. The service seemed a little unorganized but this may have been due to a new staff."

  • "Absolute moments of brilliance, like the wild mushroom crepe and the house cocktail, marred by a few odd execution flaws, like one too many flavors in a dish, or an overcooked burger. On two visits (one lunch, one dinner) the waitstaff was excellent but stretched too thin. Tuna tartar and butternut squash soup were imaginative variations on the standards and absolutely excellent. Pretty much all of the entrees (Texas Road House burger, po boy, mussels and one that escapes me) were good but not great. Desserts (truffles, apple pie) were both outstanding, although the non-standard apple pie variation really needs to be served with a knife. I'm willing to give the entrees time to reach the level of the rest of the food."

  • "The waitress handed us the menu and explained some of the dishes. When we mentioned we had a Groupon, she apologized and gave us different, more limited, menus. This is where the experience started to go downhill for me.I've used Groupons before and,always,the Groupon represents a dollar amount which can be used for anything. Being handed a limited menu immediately makes you feel like a second class citizen.The crab cake appetizer was delicious and served over a a Southwestern style hash. My roast pork loin, on the other hand was dry and, if it wasn't for the sauce, would have been fairly flavorless as well. My husbands steak was juicy and perfectly cooked. Gadsby's seems kind of hit or miss. Not worth the high prices. We won't go back."

  • "The service here is amazing, now our reservation was early but even when the restaurant began to fill up the service level stayed the same. However the food was good but there were some issues. The mussels were recommended but a little over cooked and the tartare was not an even cut so the texture was not the best. The crab cake hash with corn and black bean was outstanding. For restaurant week it was a really good deal."

  • "Two girlfriends and I decided to give this new restaurant a try on a Friday evening. From the moment we stepped through the door, the service we received was top notch. I asked for a Cosmopolitan made with berry vodka and Chad explained that all the vodkas used there are infused on-site and I would be very happy with their house Cosmo. Well....that was the best Cosmo I have ever had. My 2 girlfriends even ordered them for their next round of drinks. Next we received an amuse bouche that was the perfect pre-dinner bite and a selection of breads to choose from. They were all yummy. The main courses we chose were all top notch and the pear tart that we shared for dessert was amazing. We will be back!!!! Hats off to Gadsbys!!"

  • "After reading about the opening of Gadbys we had to try it! It sounded wonderful! It lived up to thatand more! The staff especially our waitress Stephanie was superb! We tried the mussels and prime rib both really delicious, especially the curry mussels( definitely order these!!!) The appetizers see both had variations of tuna, the tuna tartare was so flavorful! Dessert we had the creme brûlée, AMAZING!"

  • "A friend and I ate here during Howard County's Restaurant Week. The food was good and we were comfortably full after our 3 course meal. However, based on the regular menu prices, the courses seemed rather small for the price and I don't know that I would dine here at regular prices."

  • "They could not handle the crowd (which was not much). Our 3-course Restaurant Week menu took 3-hours to finish. Staff blamed the kitichen but our waitress wasn't very attentive either. We weren't the only table complaining. Food was just ok. I believe in second chances so I won't write them off just yet. But it will be a good long while before I go back."
