Diner Reviews
  • "Admittedly it was later on a weeknight, 830 or so, we stood at the host stand for nearly 10mins before being acknowledged (poorly, by a high-school aged employee), then seated where we waited another 10mins before heading out. During that time we reviewed the menu, and particularly the wine list which has a pretty steep markup for a restaurant situated in an office park. We left and visited another local restaurant with prices more in line with its ambiance. Bottom line, this restaurant might be good, but it's lack of first impression and exaggerated marked up wine list cause us to turn on our heels. The location and the level of service do not warrant the price point."

  • "Was excited to try this new restaurant but was greatly disappointed from the bar to the dessert and everything in between the quality and service was extremely lacking. Restaurant was not crowded so we were immediately seated. From there it took the waitress 10 minutes to come and greet us. It was a limited menu but was extremely overpriced. Although there were only 3 other tables of 3-4 diners each our meal service from beginning to end took more than 2 hours. Overall the food was not that great and totally overpriced. Then after we were given our bill and with our table somewhat cleared, the waiter came over and offer us hot bread with a piece in his tongs."

  • "We have been here before and the food has never disappointed. We did not take children this visit, but have in the past and they have been very accommodating. The wine and food menu seems to change seasonally providing different tastes throughout the year."

  • "First time at Gadsby's and had a wonderful lunch. Loved the brightness and ambience of the restaurant. The luncheon special had some very good choices and we enjoyed our lunch of soup, salad and entree. A very good special for the price. Will definitely come back again for lunch or dinner."

  • "This was my second visit to Gadsby's. The first experience was not too bad, so I decided to give it another try. This second time, I had to send back my seafood risotto entree because the shrimp was not de-veined (as the waitress had described), and the risotto was almost soup-like. I doubt that I will be returning. I think that chef (who has very good credentials) needs to hire a better kitchen staff to execute his menu."

  • "We ordered from both regular dinner menu and social hour menu -- Sweet Chili Wings and Tuna Tartare (Avocado Fondue | Grilled Bread | Horse Radish Crème Fraîche). From entree we shared one fish and chips. Then as dessert we had Warm Apple Strudel with Vanilla Ice Cream and Apple Cider Sauce. We enjoyed all of them. The service was OK -- the server was a nice guy, but looks like new and not entirely informed about the various menu options. He had to go back several times asking for each of the items we had questions. May be need to have better communications. We will definitely return and perhaps also try brunch."

  • "The food was so amazing. Everything looked appealing and tasted wonderful. Wonderful menu. Can't say enough good things about the food. Very tasteful. Service started out good but we were left unattended the last 20 minutes waiting for our drink refills and check. Had to go look for the waiter!"

  • "Need to do a better job of making people aware or waiters aware of what beers you had available. I asked for 3 different ones before they finally had one. The food was very good though."

  • "I had read reviews about the service at Gadsby's but thought since it had been several months that it had been opened, I thought they would have fixed that. Well, I was wrong. We were there on a Monday night and the place was empty, yet, it took our server over 10 minutes to come to our table. Then when we each order a glass of house wine and our food, our appetizer arrived before out wine. I have never had that happen at a restaurant. I hope this restaurant can work things out so that they can get more people in and have patrons who want to return."

  • "The food was great! The service was great!. Nice place for my husband and I celebrate our anniversary and Fathers day."

  • "Creative take on classic dishes. Good seafood and steaks. Good, sometimes unusual sauces. Very attentive service. Steak was perfectly tender, but I wish it was thicker. Tuna tartare was could be more tender. Scallops were delish! House wines were delish. With a little better execution, this will be a great restaurant. I'll be back to see."

  • "We were a bit concerned when we arrived for our 7 PM reservation and there were only a handful of other diners in the restaurant. We became even more concerned when our waitress informed us that, because the restaurant's now transitioning from its winter to its summer menu and from offering only domestic wines to offering international ones as well, the food menu was outdated and the beverage menu was nonexistent. But, as it turns out, our meals were quite good, and the drinks were good, too. If this restaurant can iron out its service kinks and get its menu together, it has the potential to be a great spot for a nice meal."

  • "We went because we had a groupon, and were sadly disappointed. My boyfriend ordered the house mussels. He only had about half, and mentioned that they tasted fishy. I didn't think anything of this until he reached the 2nd half, and I started to smell the fishiness. I have never actually had any foul smell associated with mussels in the past. the 2nd half of the mussels never opened, which means they weren't cooked long enough. In my opinion the dish should have been comped, or drinks should have been comped but they weren't, which points to poor customer service. Although someone did apologize for the mishap, no new food was ever brought out. If they wanted repeat business something more should have been done. My meal was better, but much."

  • "The food and service here was disappointing (to try and put it nicely). The decor is something out of a 1980's TV show - bland gray and some orchids. The choice of stale biscuit or roll was laughable. The food was overcooked, and where was the rest of it? Leaving a restaurant hungry after paying so much is a crime. The house wines, BTW, should be avoided. Definitely will not return here and would encourage you to go elsewhere -- there are plenty of delicious (and better priced) restaurants in the area!"

  • "I had purchases a Living Social Deal back in january and it was going to expire soon, so we made reservation and went on a Sunday evening. Earlier in the day i looked at reviews on various sites and they were mixed, so really worried that we'd not have great food. But our 5 courses with a glass of wine for each of us (20 was great."

  • "Good Experience, food selection is different and unique but tasty and the staff, particularly our waiter was very prompt and friendly. Overall it is a bit pricey but the Groupon promotions help and the atmosphere is very nice with a upscale feel. Only downside is they seem to often run out of wines and certain menu items other than that I would recommend!"

  • "Thanks Todd for an enjoyable evening at Gadsby's. It was our first try at Gadsby's and for the most part everything with the exception of bread and pasta were gluten free. The buttercut squash soup was quite good, the bbq lamb shank was tender and melted in your mouth with a bit of kick to it. Todd our waitstaff person was very accommodating but didn't hover. Everything was very well done."

  • "We had a couple of decent meals and the service was good. The place was almost empty so we got an appropriate level of attention. It was worth what we paid as we had a groupon certificate, but it is unlikely we would find it a value for the full menu price. We had been surprised about the modest ratings that we had seen given the fanfare it had received for being a place for fine dining. We now have a better understanding of the ratings that we had seen and agree with them."

  • "My friends and I had a very nice experience at lunch the other day. The service was attentive and the food was very good. There were many options for every taste including our gluten free diner. I ordered the butternut soup; I liked the sweet/salty combination of the pulled pork and pears for the garnish. I also enjoyed the poached salmon salad. I will definitely return to try dinner. "

  • "We really had mixed feelings about the food. Most of the food was good, especially the fish and chips and the crab cake (or whatever it was called). But the tuna tar-tar had a piece of plastic in it, the bread/rolls were store bought, and the berries in the berry trifle were still slightly frozen. "

  • "We went to Gadsby's for a three course dinner. The food was good- and had the potential to be excellent, but the poor service and lack of management at the restaurant ruined the experience (and some if the dishes). To start, we were served vaguely warm rolls while the waiter admitted he had pulled the out to early. Then the tuna tartare (which itself was tasty) was served with stale, toasted bread which again, had obviously been sitting out before making its way to our table. Half of the dessert menu was not available and it took 20 minutes after our dessert was finished to bring the check. This all seemed unreasonable considering there were only three tables occupied in the dining room."

  • "The night we had dinner at Gadsby's the wait staff was a little thin. The management had to make a decision...let the few waiters working be overwhelmed or allow for good service but not adhere to the reservation times promised. I believe that with so much of the staff missing, the management made the right call. Even though we had to wait so long to be seated the service was excellent and the food was delicious. I hope the issues of staffing the restaurant is resolved because I would like to come back."

  • "This dinner was our second time at Gadsby's. We decided to have a dinner out spur of the moment and Gadsby's did not disappoint. The meal was delicious and we had time to eat and enjoy. Also, before we left, we made sure to compliment the wait staff. The staff was one of the friendliest staffs that we have encountered recently. All of the staff smiled, asked how we were, and repeatedly made sure everything was fine. It is refreshing to have a staff that seems to work together and is generally friendly and welcoming. "

  • "There was chaos from the moment we entered the door. One young lady was on the phone, possibly taking a reservation. Two young men came to assist but could only greet us because the hostess was using the phone & computer. Once seated, the waitress was pleasant but discombobulated. She was unsure of the menu and the drinks. We placed a drink order but it took over 20min for drinks and appetizers to arrive. The drinks were made wrong, which made us conclude that it's not ALL the waitress fault. She was overly apologetic for the bar service. Ok, so we thought the food would be redemption because of the reputation of the owner. Not!! My chicken was undercooked. My husbands steak was rare (ordered medium). The other couple's lamb was dry...etc!!"

  • "I bought a Groupon based on the full menu posted on the website. When we got there, we were limited to a 4 course menu that was apparently for their Living Social customers (who had bought a different deal - mine was for 1 appetizer, 2 entrees and house wine). The entree choice was limited and I ordered something that was okay, but was not really what I was planning on. It was the least not-what-I-wanted-to-eat choice on the menu. Also, I ordered a 2nd glass of wine, and they'd run out of the house merlot and subbed a Predator Zinfandel. It was AWFUL. It had a finish of BBQ chips. Way too smoky. Saw a review of it on the Corkz app and someone said he'd poured it down the drain. Just horrible. At the very least, not a good house wine."

  • "I had a groupon for here. It's the only reason I tried this place out. The food was mediocre. The ambiance was like sitting in a cubicle at your office. Drinks took 20min to get and they weren't even busy. Definitely better places to eat in the Columbia, MD area. "

  • "Pleasant modern ambiance. Good service, and delectable food. The lamb shank was most enjoyable. Moist and tender. One of my collegues indicated the Armish Chicken was very good. Scallop appetizer and Fish & Chips were also enjoyed. Wine list was limited, but they are in the process of revamping the wine list. Will go back."

  • "Staff did a nice job of accommodating two food allergies. We went on mothers day, they would do well next year to have a kids menu as many mom's were accompanied by kids. The waitress came up with some clever options. A kids menu would have simplified. "

  • "On mothers day restaurants should expect kids right ? On the phpne they told me they'd have chicken tenders and maybe burgers but they only had waffles with bacon or sausage two of the kids ordered from the regular menu which wasn't very brunchy. Two cobbled together some chicken and fries I had fish and chtps.the fish was tilapia. One should never make fish and chips with anything other tham Atlantic cod "

  • "Went for Mother's Day. Wanted to order from the regular menu but couldn't. Menu was very limited with multiple red meats but little else. Steaks ruled the day. The only shining star was the server who was very accommodating to a special request of no carbs for one diner. Food as a whole is "fu-fu" as my family calls it. Won't go back."

  • "Limited Mother's Day brunch menu, food very slow to come out and service was poor. Soups and salads delivered together, with no apology. Attempted to charge $8 for bread!!! Butternut squash soup and ribs were delicious, but shrimp and grits were drowned in oil. This was my third visit, there will not be a fourth. "

  • "I had red snapper on a delicious bed of corn salsa. The amount of fish was a little meager, approximately 3 ounces, but I was still well satisfied with the dish. The tomato salad with caramelized onions was very good."

  • "The food was bad. The service was bad. Wine glasses were taken away and brought back dirty. Silver ware was dirty. Fatty steaks took an hour to come to the table wrongly prepared. We were sat in between two other couples when the entire dining area was EMPTY. Do not think this is a fancy dinning establishment even if they want you to think that from the price. Will not go back although I don't expect it to be around much longer. One good thing was the glass of wine they gave me for the wait however they brought it to the table in a dirty glass and I didn't drink it. Stay away. "

  • "Waiter was excellent, but the food was bad and many of the menu items were not available. Simple items like dark meat chicken, ice cream, etc. The white meat chicken I received was small and extra dry. Way over priced. "

  • "Our dishes had the freshest ingredients from local farms so the menu changes with the seasons. The presentation was like something from a Food and Wine magazine, a portrait of beauty. For starters, we had the butter nut squash cappuccino with a rum cloud and a dash of pepper to clean our palettes. The Cilantro Clay Pot soup had a cilantro broth with baby bok choy, lapcheung (Chinese sausage Chef Gadsby made himself), ginger, smoked scallops (smokey flavor was unbelievable!), white fish and shrimp served in a Japanese teapot/cup, a unique presentation! The Spring Lamb stew was delicious! Chef Gadsby paired this with a glass of Cabernet Sauvignion Rubus from California, divine. The food and service was outstanding! Bon Appétit!"
