A classic New York neighborhood restaurant, an oasis tucked away just out of sight from the tourists at the time Warner center. A great place to bring a group of old friends, or simply sit at the bar and meet new ones.

The food had obviously been sitting in the kitchen some time and the service was equally disappointing. I have had other excellent meals here but they really dropped the ball this time. Worse yet, no one seemed to care despite our bringing this to their attention.

We go to Gabriels all the time as it is our very favorite pre-Lincoln Center restaurant. The manager/owners went above and beyond duty last Friday evening! We hit terrible traffic and were 40 minutes late. We were seated and served in plenty of time and I really appreciated how helpful everyone was. As usual the food was great; I got the scallop main course, and my sister the swordfish. My husband got the risotto special (with seafood). When he couldn't find what he wanted on the salad menu, the chef made a simple arugula salad with parmesan. He was very happy. I hight recommend this gem!

Very good service. Food is always good. They now offer gluten free pasta. My wife had the scallops. Cooked to perfection, tender and delicious. The Burata appetizer is excellent, served with figs and apple or pear slices.

The reception was friendly and helpful, but we had problems with our table service. We could not find our waitress to order dessert. We did with another waiter, but it never arrived. However it was on the bill which I paid although we never saw any dessert. As we had theater tickets, we could not wait more than twenty minutes.

This is one of our favorite places. They got a new chef a while back and he is quite extraordinary. Recently I had tuna tartare, which was excellent. A side dish, polenta with gorgonzola and almonds, was unctuous, the most delicious polenta I've ever eaten. Their fish is uniformly good, and they offer some unusual courses like kid, part of a pasta dish, that's one of my husband's favorites. We've always been happy with the service; the restaurant doesn't get noisy and lets you have a sense of privacy when dining with friends.

This is fine Italian dining for grown-ups. Attractive room with tables spaced far enough apart that private conversations were possible. Superb location just off Columbus Circle. Just far enough off the beaten path not to be 'trendy'. I've had many business and board lunches there; enjoyed them all.

Gabriel's seems to have been around forever and thank God for that. Its sophsticated Italian menu rings subtle changes on the classics and the food always satisfies and then some. The ambiance is sophsticated and the waiters take excellent care of you. I've eaten many business lunches here and had my birthday dinner here the other night, and Gabriel's was the perfect place for both purposes. Not by any means inexpensive , but I've never felt overcharged for the dining experience I had.

We go to many restaurants in London- I went with my daughter (A university student) I lecture in Art History- we have travelled around the world, Very poor service- felt they didnt welcome us. waiter surly, while I was tasting the wine, he was checking his watch! The restaurant was half full, with an atmosphere of elderly sedateness... We were made to feel that as we werent elderly wealthy New Yorkers we didnt belong- something I never get going to equivalent restaurants in London!!! so what we were on the NT restaurant week offer- every customer should be treated with respect!

Our dinner at Gabriel's was merely average while the bill was breathtaking. For pre-theatre Lincoln Center, there are many better options for the cost including Boulud Sud. Even though the restaurant was quiet, the service was slow and erratic. Overall, a disappointing experience.

Relaxed table spacing reduces to noise to conversation level, and chairs are comfortable. Menu is quite varied and has vegetarian options. Preparation is reliably careful, dishes reminiscent of small Italian restaurants. Service is attentive and friendly without being officious or disruptive. Dined on 5/30/2014
The menu listed Lasagna as a house specialty, but did not list a price. My host ordered it; when it arrived it was a smallish portion, looked like reheated and flat and tasted rather mundane. When the bill arrived, my host thought that the waiter had made a mistake with the price and questioned it. He was told that this price "was in the system"; no interest was shown about his complaint. Very disappointing!

Restaurant tables cramped together. Requested another table + was told that "we need to pack 'em in. Rent is high". When I asked who this arrogant person was who I was talking to it was Gabriel. Set the tone for the evening. High rent should not be a customers issue. Take fewer reservations and avoid cattle like treatment. Service rushed. Different staff came over every 2 minutes to take order. Food mediocre. The new waitress from Tennessee was very sweet.

An ideal restaurant location for dinner near Lincoln Center. The hosting and wait staff is highly professional and wonderfully and quickly attentive. The food is also well above the typical "get'em in, get'em out" and pretentious "chef named" restaurants that surround Lincoln Center. I wouldn't hesitate to go back again.
