  • "We had friends in from Charlotte and were touting G2B as a little different than some of the gastropubs in Charlotte. It took over 15 minutes to get our drinks and that was after asking about them. And, the bartender wasn't slammed, so not sure where the breakdown was. Also, my dirty martini wasn't dirty or cold after waiting so long. However, they did pick it up after that and we were pleased with the food, so overall a good experience."

  • "My wife and I went at 6:30 because we would have a long ride home. We both were looking forward to the Bone Marrow. Naturally, they were out of the Bone Marrow. The waitress suggested the Beef Tatare which I am a fan of. I was served a cube of ground beef held together with a milky substance and not tasty at all. My wife had the Oxtail which she said was very good. I am new to the area and am trying to find a few reliably good restaurants, this is not one."

  • "Don't let the location fool you. An 'office building' restaurant didn't strike me as a place I wanted to try, but the menu looked too good to pass up. Then, walking in, you're greeted by an attentive hostess. Our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. The atmosphere was lively, exciting and modern. The menu was unique. Our food was fabulous. My husband got the salmon and he raved about it and the bed of brussel sprouts. I am a burger lover and try them at every new restaurant for cross comparison. Their G2B burger... FABULOUS! Perfectly cooked and their pickled onions were an excellent touch that I would rank as the highest in the area."

The fact that the menu is ever-changing means that you can have something new and exciting every time you visit. Every item we had was simply wonderful. They have an huge beer menu, and I understand that their monthly beer dinners are extremely popular."

  • "To supplement this review, check out the menu on their web site for details and clarity. The seating is very comfortable and the tables far enough apart for privacy. The seats are comfortable and the restaurant is attractive. As a first visit I had the G2B burger which was excellently made with a delicious and interesting taste from its accompaniments and my wife's lamb burger was perfectly made as well. There was a lot to eat. The choices for sides were good, some of the usual and some more interesting. On our next visit, we will be more adventurous and choose from a menu that is very easy to choose from. The beer list (on tap) is varied and extensive). The desserts were limited and we did not try any."

  • "I went with my husband and daughter. We were there early to eat before a Duke basketball game. The menu is very interesting. We ordered the chef's choice cheese platter which was excellent. My husband ordered the shepherd's pie and loved it. He also loved the extensive beer selection. My daughter ordered the salmon and it was good. I ordered one of the burgers and it was ok, a little mushy. The biggest issue I had was my gin and tonic. I ordered Tanqueray and my drink was clearly not Tanqueray. I know my gin. The server went into a long explanation…he had seen them open the bottle, etc.. The server himself was just a little creepy. Bill for the three of us including a $25 dollar tip was $145. May go back again, but not anxious to."

  • "We arrived 15 minutes before our reservation time. The hostess said we would have to wait until our reservation time despite the fact that there were approximately 6-8 tables open. In fact, the table we sat at had been ready the whole time. I'm not sure why we had to wait. The food was OK; nothing to write home about. I had the risotto with figs and raisins. The folks who got the steak said their dish was very good. It is an open kitchen and I had the unfortunate experience of watching a prepper wipe her nose with her hand several times and then place food on top of someone's burger barehanded without washing her hands. Gross! I'm not so sure I will come back for food but the bar has a great beer selection and vibe."

  • "Don't let the location in the office building deceive you - the food here is decidedly top notch at a great price. My wife and I wound up noshing for almost 2 hours while drinking a fabulous bottle of wine. The charcuterie were particularly delicious and amply served. I'll be coming back."

  • "Pleasant experience, food imaginatively prepared and delightful. Only downside was the dessert, which again lacked flavor though it looked pretty. Did prix fixe holiday menu again. Service was good. Ambiance just fine. Bread is amazing. We'll return, but not for dessert, sadly. All the other food was gourmet yet reasonable. 2nd visit for this restaurant, a treasure to have so close to our home. Wines were excellent."

We had excellent salads and a light meal, followed by a dessert prepared beautifully (A toffee/caramel sticky yummy cake!) to finish the experience. Service was attentive but not invasive.   • "I called for reservations at ONE and there were not tables avail. They suggested their sister restaurant, G2B. G2B's online presence is great and as well restaurant itself is more impressive, but this is where the excitement ends. To begin they give you a kindle to look at their beverage menu. I was disappointed to see that it was just their website pulled up on the Kindle, no interactivity. It would have been much easier to simply read the paper menu. The service was excellent, but the food was just "ok". It appears they have invested a great deal of money into the lighting, and construction of the restaurant, but forgot the most import part, quality food. I would highly suggest Mateo or Piedmont over G2B in the Durham area."

  • "G2B is one of my favorite corners in Durham. I've been with small groups and large parties and each time they go above and beyond to make it a great experience. Each time I've been I have been greeted at some point by the manager himself. He is as conscientious and charismatic as the rest of the staff. The food is impressive, with fun twists on old favorites, presented with complex flavor combinations and plated beautifully, accompanied by an extensive wine and beer list. The ambience is calm and dynamically modern (with lights that subtly change colors). They even have a Wii set up, which somehow manages to bring the child out in even my most mature of friends."

  • "She over did it really. I like attention when being served, but she literally came 15 times to see if "everything was okay". Thus to say she interrupted our conversions alot ... plus made me very bitter. She also asked us how we will be paying just as she served us our dessert. Either poorly trained waitress or she does not understand hints from customers that don't want to be bothered. Food was fair, nothing too special, but well cooked. I would only go for steaks there. Wine and beer pairing were great too."

  • "Got to G2B on Friday at 6:30, glad we had reservations as the place was already getting full. The friendly hostess seated us promptly. Our server Clay was very helpful, we decided on a charcuterie plate, the seared scallops, scotch egg, salmon, and NY strip. All were delicious! The beer 'sommeliers' Danny and Chris helped us pick a few big beers - awesome craft selection, though I think it needs more from Colorado. They looked tasty but too full for dessert. Checked out the jazz lounge, it was packed. Mint Julep Band? Good sound. Definitely coming back for jazz, want to try a beer dinner."

  • "First time diner. We had a bit of a mis-step upon arrival-We had a reservation, were early,a lot of empty tables,likely not a lot coming in on a holiday Sunday night. The hostess said,"there really isn't anywhere to wait at the bar, so maybe you could wait here for a while". Oops. She then left us there as she went to look at the tables. Situation saved - and then some-by very warm/friendly mgr-who came and seated us right away. He introduced the menu and excellent beverage list. Server was equally friendly/helpful. Food was excellent - every single thing. Great duck pate. Nice salad. Great hanger steak. I would say that the only other negative is the somewhat cold atmosphere. Nice looking but not warm/inviting. I look forward to returning."

  • "We have been to G2B about 6 times and have never been disappointed. The squash and arugula small plate is unique and delicious. We also had the large plate salmon and flank steak. The servings were large enough to take some home, and surprisingly even the next day both dishes were bursting with flavor. We felt that the price for food and wine was reasonable. We had dessert and thought that it, too, was creative and excellent, but maybe the price should have been a bit lower, more in keeping with the overall pricing at this restaurant. The servers deserve to be mentioned, as they were efficient and personable."

  • "We like G2B very much, but this is the second time recently we have dined there and been very unhappy with the service. The team is poorly trained (bringing some, not all, of the table's food, unaware of the menu or other servers information, a general lack of interest in the diner or the food or the order). Unfortunately, it has been different servers indicating a lack of attention to server training and service management. Of course chef's must taste the food they are preparing, but a spoon or fork and back to the room is a better image. Sorry, this is my 3rd or so review and we have really enjoyed G2B as a go-to spot for good, casual, creative food, and the food was good again, but the service was a real turn off second time in a row."
