  • "We have eaten at G Michael's before and it was outstanding, that is why we came back. This time was a different story. While the wine list is still outstanding the food quality has dropped. My wife and I had different meals with the same over seasoned taste. I hope that if we ever go back when we are in the Columbus area it will be better."

  • "This was the second time we dined at G. Michaels! While we didn't get the table we requested as our first choice via Open Table reservation, we were seated by a window (our second choice). The food and service were very good; the appetizer (brazed duck with noodles), duck special, and 8oz. New Zealand Lamb Rack were nicely presented with mild flavoring, pleasing to the pallet. Although we could have used a slightly larger portion on both accounts. Waiters are absolute professionals, who can lead you through the menu and specials to whatever your taste desires. Their service was timely and personable without being intrusive. We wish the menu included a nice side Caesar salad, but the salad selection is varied and good."

  • "My wife and I had an early dinner at G. Michael's Bistro before attending a show. We have always enjoyed a delicious meal at this restaruant. We chose the Restaurant Week menu. Each of had the BLT Salad Wedge of Romaine. It was a generous salad with bacon crumbles and blue cheese and tomatoes. The homemade green goddess dressing really set it our well. My wife enjoyed an entree of the broiled pork tenderloin. She commented on the chilled three bean salad that was served with the tenderloin. I had the sockeye salmon entree with succotash. I really enjoyed the garnish of the pepper jam on the salmon. Our server was helpful and attentive."

  • "Restaurant week is such a great value opportunity that we visited 5 different restaurants in one week. G Michael's tied for first place with a very different place downtown. We were so impressed with the choice and the thought that had gone into the menu. I had mussels/scallops/panna cotta and all three courses were spectacular. Can't quite believe we only paid $30 plus drinks. It was my third time at G.Michael's and I will certainly be back there soon."

  • "This was our first time at G. Michael`s. What a great experience! we will definitely go back. David, our waiter, was absolutely the best. He was attentive, friendly, and with a good sense of humour. Being there during "restaurant week" gave us an opportunity to try the 3 course meal offerings. I chose the cold soup (I don`t remember the name) which was amazing, the scallops and panna cotta. Everything was delicious. Everyone at my table (there were 6 of us) was pleased with what they chose. It was a delightful evening."

  • "Always a great meal at G. Michael's. The waiter was fabulous and the food was great (except dessert, which is why 4 stars for food and not 5). I can't say enough about the waiter - excellent, patient, knowledgeable and friendly. The scallops were perfectly cooked and accompanied by great sides of potatoes and spinach. Wine by the glass list had some great selections. Decent beer list. As mentioned, dessert was not great. They shouldn't attempt fancy desserts; either do it right or stick to fuit and ice cream. I'll definitely go back, but will skip dessert next time."

  • "My wife and I celebrated 10 years at our favorite restaurant in Columbus. We both had fish for our main entree, and the place does fish very well -- always plated with sides that make the fish very savory and filling. Service is generally attentive, though we dined on the patio and it was slightly slower than normal (though nothing *that* bad.) The seasonal menus are always fun to explore. Highly recommended!"

  • "The pineapple and mango "gazpacho" was wonderful and the deconstructed wedge salad was good. The fried calamari were disappointing--soggy, with an overly sweet glaze. All the main courses were very good: scallops, salmon and lasagna. Unfortunately, all the desserts were just okay, a let-down after the high standard set. They included an apple crisp, panna cotta, a tart and worst of all, a "gelee" (which, in fairness, our waiter warned us we might not like, but we thought we'd try it anyway.) Overall, a very fine place; perhaps a new pastry chef should be considered."

  • "I ate at G Michael's for dinner last Saturday and was absolutely amazed! I have eaten out at many outstanding restaurants in Columbus, but this has to be one of the best! I had the duck/steak dinner and my wife had the pheasant. Both meals were wonderful! We also shared the Tuna appetizer, which was definitely a must-try. Our waiter was extremely friendly and helpful and gave us the pecan pie for free (I was so full I didn't need dessert, but it was the best pecan pie I have ever had! Worth it!). We will absolutely be back!"

  • "I was in Columbus for work. Found one of the best meals I have ever tasted. Chilled asparagus, potato, and leak soup to begin. Puréed perfectly with a brilliant mix that you could actually taste each ingredient properly with a nice glossy hint of butter. The pheasant dish was succulent, however the outer edges were slightly on the dry side. The spicy honey glaze coupled with citrus-chili vinaigrette worked extremely well together. The addition of sweet potatoes and Swiss chard just made it better. Service was impeccably good. A near perfect meal."

It is our go-to for when we have out of town guests and want a lovely meal. Simply the best Columbus has to offer. Food quality is excellent, staff is wonderful and the Chef is superb.   • "Most of G. Michael's entrees are done southern style, which didn't sound like healthy options to us. At the recommendation of our server, we ordered their least expensive chardonnay and the mussels as our appetizer. The mussels were served in a huge bowl almost full of mussels. They had a strong smell, which we didn't like and the meat within the shells was not very plump. We finished half of what was served. My house salad had a hair in it and the server replaced it with a fresh salad. It too had something in it that wasn't supposed to be there according to the server when I asked what it was. The salad itself was very good. We opted for salmon as our entree and it was terrific."

  • "We really like G. Michael's and had attended a wine tasting dinner there a couple of months ago. Since we had had such a good experience then, we signed up for the tasting last Wednesday. The format was quite a bit different with no seating and a sort of bar where one stood in line to get samples of the different choices. The food was set out on one table, and it was somewhat difficult to obtain portions with people crowding around. Also juggling a plate of food and a glass of wine was a bit problematic. Luckily, we had had a snack at the bar before the event, so we weren't too hungry. So I think unless the next tasting event is of a sitdown dinner format we will not attend."

  • "My husband and I had dinner on a Sunday evening. Don't get me wrong...the food was good (filet for me, lamb chop for him), but I guess I expected a far more superior product. The small plate starter we split (shrimp & grits) was outstanding. I probably should have ordered several small plates and a salad instead of an entree. Wine was excellent (German Riesling)! Waitstaff was excellent!! Bartender was super nice! No complaints about that. It's a pretty place, but it smelled musty for some reason like a basement and there were green, turflike carpets on the floor. Maybe a recent water problem? All in all a nice dinner with my husband, but I probably won't be back. Was looking for that above and beyond experience."

  • "We had a great meal at G. Michael's. This restaurant never fails to deliver quality, unique dishes. Everything I ordered was delicious. Fresh and creative plates served by friendly waitstaff. Time and time again, this restaurant shows its' patrons that they care about presenting dishes that stimulate senses. Food is typically seasonal and is prepared in harmonious combinations, in comparison to other Columbus restaurants. The appetizers through dessert have really great flavor! Love this restaurant!"

  • "Dining al fresco in Ohio can be risky but the weather cooperated with us and we were all very comfortable on the patio at G. Michaels. The patio is small with maybe seven tables but nice and protected from the evening sun. This was our parties' second visit to G. Michaels and just as good as the first time. Everyone enjoyed all the food which is saying something for our group. The service was just right as our waitress saw that we were not in a hurry and gave us all the time that we wanted to relax and enjoy our meal together. We were probably there about two and a half hours, which was less than our last visit by the way. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from in Columbus but it's not easy to find ones that you can count on."

  • "We love all kinds of food, but all 3 items I ordered were overly complex in flavor. For example, the chilled asparagus and leek soup was excessively sweet, of all things. The shrimp and grits had more bacon than shrimp and would have been better with less spice in the tomato broth. The pork belly & octopus bruschetta also had an overwhelming sweetness, which was unexpected. I normally enjoy fusion cuisine, but these dishes seemed to take it all a step too far. If they had limited the ingredients to 2-3 fewer per dish, I think it would have improved the flavor quite a bit."
