G. Michael's Bistro & BarThe food is excellent; however,The food is excellent; however, if you like your foods simple rather than artistic, this is not the place to go.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMG. Michael Dining-Mother's DayA wonderful corner booth seating for two. Our Blackened salmon with shrimp special and the fillet done medium rear were perfect. Our waiter was great-very pleasant and attentive even with a packed facility. The valet service was great also. In all, a great evening.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMNever disappointingThis is a restaurant which is a long drive (45 minutes) from where I live. I would eat here much more frequently if I lived even a little closer. It is a great atmosphere, but the food is extra special. Good service and convenient valet parking.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner with out of town family,Dinner with out of town family, was great! Great wait staff - David.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistentWe have been dining at G. Michael's since our daughter first attended Ohio State U, and we looked forward to visiting the restaurant every time we visited her. The food is consistently very good, and sometimes amazing (like the shrimp, andouille and grits or duck confit). Our waiter Tim, on our most recent visit was fantastic. He was warm, attentive, funny (matching our sense of humor), and possessed a perfect sense of when to arrive, and when to retreat. Love it love it! Since our daughter graduated, it's sad to think this might be our last visit. I hope all the new families to the OSU community discover this gem.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst visit to G. Michael'sI ate at G. Michael's the night of 5/4 and had a wonderful experience. The menu is unique enough to be interesting, but still appeal to a broad range of appetites. The portions are generous and the prices were moderate. I'd highly recommend G. Michael's.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMG. Michael'sMy son wanted to go there, and we like different places. We ate only salads and shared small plates among 5 and everyone left full. We really enjoyed the experience. Plates were varied - all good, a couple outstanding. Really liked the beef crostini and and shrimp and grits. Apparently, a great happy hour deal, which would make the value outstanding. Server was great.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMMine was good - wife's was betterI highly recommend G. Michael's ... we got to experience their new Spring menu, and it all looked wonderful. I went out on a limb and got the quail - it was very good, but it wasn't exquisite - my wife's halibut, however, was, and I experienced a fair bit of entree envy. We were sat inside, but the patio looked amazing and cozy. We'll go back!5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, great serviceGreat food, great service and great ambience.A go to place for consistency , quality and reasonable prices4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I dined hereMy husband and I dined here for our anniversary. It was a great experience! The menu had just changed for the season and everything we ordered was wonderful. We had the calamari and asparagus appetizers, trout and shrimp and grits for meals. Our waiter was great, he was attentive and gave excellent recommendations. We will definitely be going back again.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe ambiance and food wereThe ambiance and food were outstanding. Very creative chef. Collin, our server did a fantastic job all evening and was very attentive to our needs. The only thing that was lacking is knowledge about the wine list. There is a fairly extensive wine list, but no one on the staff to answer your questions. The server wasn't very knowledgeable about the wines on the list and there was no sommelier to answer our questions, as a result, the wine we ordered was good, but not outstanding.
We will definitely return.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMeverything was perfect....weeverything was perfect....we had champagne waiting for us at the table...starter plate and entrees were prepared well and all had a great time4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe place is fantastic!!The place is fantastic!! The chef has added some selections for vegetarians.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMOut of the ball park, every time.GMichael's is my family's "go-to" restaurant when they come into town for a visit. Every positive review that I have ever read about this restaurant is accurate. Chef Tetzloff is, hands down, one of the best chefs I've had the opportunity to get to know and enjoy his food. We had an outstanding dinner there on 4/20/13 and are excited for the menu change to spring. We got to try the salad special and an appetizer special that will be on the spring menu and they were incredible. The salad with the fiddle head ferns was the most interestingly delicious salad I have ever had. Thank you, GMichael's, for yet another home run.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe pleasantly surprised withWe pleasantly surprised with our dining experience. Most of the reviews said it was good but we have Ben disappointed in the past with other restaurants. G Michaels exceeded our expectations. Our waiter, Collin, was a gem. We had a delightful evening!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMOur fourth visit was justOur fourth visit was just as good as the first three. Our server, Michael, was attentive without being obtrusive, and the food was first-rate. (From the 'winter' Small Plate/Soup menu) For diner 1: Low Country Crab Soup, followed by G. Michael's specialty Shrimp and Grits. For diner 2: Braised Beef and Farro Soup, then Oysters Bienville. All four dishes were excellent!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother fantastic mealThis was my second visit in a row. I was there the night before by myself and came back the next night with my husband. My husband had the trout which was AMAZING. The only part of the meal he didn't like was the greens which were a little sweet which may have been due to the sauce. I ordered swordfish which was really good but the portion size was very small (seemed to be 3 ounces), and I wished I had more when I finished it. David (from FL) was our waiter and he was very attentive. The atmosphere is nice and you can feel comfortable in business casual or dressing up. This will be a regular stop on my business trips to Columbus.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyable experience; roomEnjoyable experience; room temperature was a bit cold4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great dinner in theWe had a great dinner in the very nice sun room. Michael's for a double date with a couple that just moved to Columbus. I enjoy G. Michael's because to me it is a moderately priced foodie restaurant, with a menu long enough to accommodate all tastes. I recommend any of the steaks, lasagna, lobster thermidor, and most of all the lemon tart!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMA wonderful dining experience!A wonderful dining experience! The food and wine was outstanding, our waiter was great, very attentive I wish I could remember his name. Sat near a couple of larger partys so it was a little noisy but the food and service totally made up for it! Definitly one of if not the top restaurant in Columbus.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was phenomenal! We wereFood was phenomenal! We were here on a previous visit to Columbus and will continue to dine here when on subsequent visits. Our server, Kate?, made the experience even better. See you in October.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMSurprise in ColumbusMade reservations at G. Michael's based upon other Open Table reviews as we were travelling to the east coast. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the reviews were correct. Great food and service. Quaint exposed old brick interior. Wish it would have been warmer so that we could have dined on their patio. Relatively quiet and romantic. This is what we call a "back to" if and when we stay in Columbus, OH again.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMProbably one of the best mealsProbably one of the best meals I've ever had. Spectacular, well-thought-out dishes that appealed to all the senses. We will definitely be back!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous as AlwaysFabulous as always. By far our favorite restaurant in the Central Ohio area, perhaps even our favorite in Ohio! The food is always interesting and delicious. The service is friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. The only negative thing we could possibly say is that there is no parking lot, so you have to either do valet parking or park on the street- although we've never had trouble finding street parking!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMG Michaels always deliversG Michaels always delivers when it comes to amazing service and a quality dining experience. We ordered three small plates and a salad and it was too much for just the two of us. Love going to a restaurant that serves me something I don't make at home. Can't wait to go back.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best restaurantsOne of the best restaurants in town. Innovative Low Country food with a strong wine list. Good ambiance and service.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMTerrific Dine Originals Dinner!Had a terrific Dine Originals Week dinner. The menu offerings covered a range of tastes and all the dishes were intriguingly and beautifully presented and quite delicious.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreeted nicely by parkingGreeted nicely by parking valet. Welcomed warmly by the host. The waiter was friendly and most professional. Answered all our questions thoroughly and his descriptions of the entrees made my mouth water.
All of our salads, main courses and after dinner sweets were unbelievably delicious. I have never tasted duck prepared like that before and I have duck whenever I see it on a menu.
Could not have had a better dining experience. If I were in the market for a restaurant, this would be the place.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMMy friend and I went thereMy friend and I went there for DineOriginals week. The food we had was very good- we had three courses a piece but the standout were the brussel sprout first course. The waiter was charming, attentive, and gave us history of the restaurant without any prompting. The only problem came in the atmosphere- literally. At one point someone must have left something on the stove or in the oven for too long and the back room where we were dining filled with smoke, so much so it was visible. Both of our sinuses burned for a while, though the breeze that followed through shortly after was cold and fresh so I'm going to chock it up to a freak occurrence.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMI am in the "business" andI am in the "business" and do not get to be on this side of a dinner service very often. Therefore I tend to only dine at a few trusted establishments. This was my third visit and you are now on said list.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
