Diner Reviews
  • "G Foleys is a fantastic restaurant in Panama City. With the loss of Canopies a few years ago, we are excited to finally have something again that is at least comparable. The food is fantastic, and also have a wide selection of gluten-free options. The bar is very good as well; the cocktails from visit to visit can be inconsistent, as well as service due to training new staff. The outdoor deck is fantastic and has a great ambiance. Excellent, local acoustic music groups complete this outdoor dining experience. We are repeat locals and take our out of town friends and family there as often as we can and definitely recommend this fine restaurant based on food and atmosphere."

  • "Requested quiet table, was put by three large groups of very loud people. I'm glad the groups had nice evening, but they ruined mine. Couldn't even talk quietly."

  • "Although the food was amazing and I would highly recommend that restaurant based on that, the service that we received was poor. From standing at the hostess stand for several minutes without even getting a "hello" to the waitress who seemed to have little to no time for our table."

  • "I was in town on a quick business trip and G. Foley's was recommended by a friend. I can pay it forward and recommend this restaurant unequivocally, Drinks and aps were outstanding, service wonderful, steak entrees perfectly prepared and the best creme brulee I think I have ever had! This is an upscale, very well done restaurant far from the beach crowds and tourists."

  • "We went on a "wine down " Thursday which meant all bottles of wine were half price. So, not only did we enjoy a wonderful meal ( filet and twin lobster tails), but we had an excellent bottle of wine. Do not miss the appetizer of grilled shrimp on corn cakes, absolutely delicious."

  • "This restaurant came highly recommended for my birthday celebration. We were dissappointed with our meal. Our scallop appetizer, at a price of $15, had two small scallops. My grouper was over cooked, under seasoned, and had very little sauce and no crabmeat whatsoever. My husband had the sirloin and he said it was one of the toughest steaks he has ever had. Our biggest regret was that we didn't mention our dissatisfaction at the time of our meal. We would like to give G Foley's a second chance because we have heard great things about them. We don't mind spending $120 on dinner, but that is a lot of money to spend to be dissatisfied."

  • "G. Foley's opened for lunch less than three weeks ago and I have already eaten there three times...twice with my husband and once with a group for a Board meeting. Each time it has been excellent. The gris and grilled shrimp are soooooo good as are the salads. For the Board meeting (party of 10) they seated us in the bar area along with another group of about seven ladies. That way, we didn't bother other diners. Once the weather gets nice, the outdoor deck will be lovely."

  • "This restaurant was much less than expected. Service was very slow - and the waiter forgot our appetizer. As a result we got it **with** our meal without an apology. There were 4 of us dining and only 3 dinners came out with a message that the 4th had to be sent back to the kitchen "because of an error." 10 minutes later it finally arrived and was horribly over-cooked. We complained without receiving any real acknowledgement by the server. Even when he arrived back at the end of the meal to take away our plates, he saw that the 4th entree had barely been eaten - but no word from him still. On the positive side, the Snickers martini was excellent and the salmon dinner was very good."

  • "We have dined here as a couple, brought our kids to enjoy, brought the extended family to enjoy, and also dined here for Valentine's day two years in a row. Every time we have eaten here the food has been fantastic and the wait staff always friendly. I love the shrimp and grits and this past Valentine's day had the filet mignon which was cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. We also love the Lobster Bisque. The chocolate martini tastes great. Oh! My father- in-law loved the grouper! One of my favorite places to eat!!"

  • "Several months ago I ordered steak which turned out to be so tough it could not be cut with a steak knife or chewed. Another was brought out after talking with the server and manager and it was tender, delicious and cooked as ordered. This past Friday night, I ordered a steak that came with a one inch thick piece of gristle through the steak. Again, after talking with the server, a manager brought out another steak which was tender, delicious, cooked as ordered and gristle free. It seems that they have a "special reserve" of steaks that are served to "regulars" or folks who complain. A steak with a streak of gristle like that should have been obvious to a cook and rejected for serving. All patrons deserve the same quality of food."

  • "Food & service were very good. Very dark inside. I'm certain they were going for "romantic", but seriously I had to hold the menu right next to the single candle to make out the words. Also, while the food was quite good, it did not live up to the $130 ticket (for two - Valentines special). Take your lady to this place only for a special occasion. The service, however was top-notch. Our waitress did a great job dealing with my wife, who can be indecisive with a menu she isn't familiar with. She also got the bartender to mix something for my wife not normally on the wine list. Recommend for the occasional romantic evening."

  • "Made reservations one day ahead. Upon arrival we were greeted, checked in and immediately taken to our table. The table location was horrible, unstable and right next to the kitchen and in the way of servers. Server greeted and water glasses filled, but we waited nearly 8 minutes for her to return just to get our drink order, but upon order, our drinks nearly instantly appeared along with the lobster appetizer, which was delicious. Rye bread and butter was provided. I ordered the shrimp and grits and Caesar salad, which were both incredible but spicy, and he had the rib eye, which was awful, and a creamy soup which was amazing. Great place, just don't order the steak!!"

  • "We're residents of Panama City. Have some great friends we share birthdays and anniversaries with. Had talked about going to G. Foley's...hadn't until Valentine's Day. Food and service make it a stand out for us. So, it will definitely be "Foley's for the Future.""

  • "This was our first time trying G. Foleys. It was absolutely wonderful. It was a pre fixe menu which was extremely tasty. Can't wait to try other menu choices. Grouper was the best I ever had!"

  • "First time dining at G-Foleys. There was a limited menu for Valentine's Day and everything was paired nicely. We had the crab cake appetizer (enough for 2), lobster bisque (short on lobster and a tad too rich but good), Lobster Tails (server didn't know what type of tales when I quizzed her) and a sugar cookie dessert that was sandwiching homemade white chocolate cream and was great. The restaurant had a nice table for 2 for us within 5 minutes and 10 minutes before our reservation which was surprising as busy as they were. Also, bar was advertising a seasonal Sam Adams that they were out of and server had to ask us if it was ok to bring our martini in a rocks glass. Server was a little nervous and bus boys were good."

  • "We loved it! The service was great, and the food was incredibly delicious. Dessert was so special, they wished a Happy Anniversary written out in chocolate on the platter. This is definitely the place to go for a special occasion."

  • "Fabulous food and an imaginative chef who has created a fine dining experience for Panama City without having to cross the bridge to the beach restaurants. George is a magnificent host and the menu has something unique for all palates. Highly recommended."

  • "We have continuously talked about G. Foley's to our friends who normally stay on the other side of the bridge and go to Firefly. Unfortunately this night was not one of our best at G's. The Ahi Tuna appetizer was very thick slices, and the food was lukewarm. This is the first time we had been to G's and the owner not coming to the table. I am sure we will try it again, but we are letting that experience slowly fade away."

  • "We decided to make a reservation at G.Foley's in order to listen to Sharon Carroll sing. She was as fabulous as we thought she would be, and the food was a bonus! I had the steak and my husband had the salmon, both superb. Our server was attentive. A wonderful date night. Thank you!"

  • "Once again, we had a wonderful meal at G Foley's. I had the prime rib and my husband had (as always) the ribeye. Both were delicious. It turns out that Thursday is "Wine Down" day and that all bottles of wine on the menu were 1/2 price. We enjoyed an excellent bottle of Cabernet along with our meal and excellent service. Thank you, Addie."

  • "Six of us had the 2 for $40. The salmon was wonderful, steak perfect, and the shrimp and grits were spiced nicely. My only complaint is with the salad. As with most places it was waaaay over dressed. I will order my dressing on the side next time. The service was great, our server was knowledgeable, and the drinks were just right."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner at G Foley's for New Years. Everything we ate was delicious. Not sure about the regular pricing as this was a set menu with a set charge. The only thing we did find a little bothersome was that for $100 a couple you had to share the appetizer and dessert. We would have liked to each have our own choice for those things; instead we had to pay more to get one for each of us. My husband and I eat totally different things and sharing was not possible."

  • "This is a fantastic restaurant in Panama City. We had a reservation on New Year's Eve - we arrived and were seated right away. Matt was our waiter and he was friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. Our food was delicious and served promptly. The tables in the dining areas were spaced far enough apart as to make it a more private setting. We like to dine in the unique outside area when visiting PC in the warmer weather. I would highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "I haven't been everywhere, but G Foley's ambiance is second to none of the restaurants In Panama City where I have eaten. It is quiet, the lighting is subdued with electric candles on each table. The wine list was decent, but we chose the house Merlot which was fine. We began the meal with house salads - crisp lettuce, gape tomatoes, diced cucumber, feta cheese, candied pecans, raspberry vinaigrette dressing. For entrees, I had the jambalaya and my wife ordered the chicken foley. The jambalaya had 3 delicious grilled shrimp and a 1/4 bonelss chciken breast on a bed of sauces rice and sausage. The chicken foley was sauteed and glazed, with bacon, provolone and spinach served over fried potatos. Mine portion was small. Hers was huge."

  • "After feeling snubbed by several people who walked by and ignored us while we were waiting to check in, we ended up with a pleasant experience. I was a bit miffed at first and was not impressed by the staff. Not a good first impression! However, our waitress was very nice so by the time we got our food we were feeling better about it. Overall, it was a good experience and we would go back again, but something has to be done about the hostess station."

  • "While Foley's is usually consistently good, I ordered the pan seared scallop appetizer ($15). There were just a couple of scallops, but that was OK because they were tough and did not taste very good. The rest of my group enjoyed their meals, I just mad a poor, and relatively expensive, choice."
